We ended up placing my dad in Marshall Manor West. The place is old, but the biggest selling point is the staff who is very experienced. Most of the nurses have been there for at least 10 years, and they are very, very good with the patients. The way they handle the Alzheimer’s patients is totally amazing. That’s what really sold us on the place. The community is older and it is not as pretty as of the newer ones, but I think the experience of the nurses makes it so much better. My dad seems to be doing really well there. It looks like they have different kinds of puzzles, games, and things to do. They only have 12 to 15 Alzheimer’s patients and do a lot as a group, like sit and watch TV together and work on puzzles and different games. They just seem to really keep them busy.
