"My mother-in-law is staying at Brookdale San Marcos South. They keep it very clean. Its not one of the most luxurious places youve ever seen, but the staff is friendly and helpful. They make it a point to know the residents and what their needs are. Everyone, from the director to the orderlies that provide direct care to the residents have been nothing but kind and helpful to us. The rooms are spacious, the main dining area is very spacious, very nice, and they have dinners there for family members. Its very welcoming, and whenever we visit her, they always ask if we want to stay for a meal free of charge. The food is not four-star dining, but its not bad either. They provide seemingly healthy options and not so healthy options, and the residents get to choose. They have different resident programs where they participate in outings, she holds a board member position and gets to make decisions about how to decorate for upcoming parties, get togethers, and what kind of movie nights to offer, and they have senior dances."

"My tour experience of Buda Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care was wonderful. It was very informative. We were able to tour the whole facility. It's small. They have a maximum of 66 residents and have lots of living room-type spaces for them. There's a library, an outdoor area, and a gardening area. It's home-like and very comfortable. The dining area looked very nice. They have a menu that is out. It has some standard things that are always there, and there's a main dish that changes. You can choose their main dish or you can choose from their standing menu. They had quite a good variety. I thought the units were quite nice and spacious. The staff who gave the tour was friendly and informative. I thought the place was fantastic. They had a PT room, too."

"My brother has moved into Village on the Park - Onion Creek. It's very well-kept and seems secure. It's very pretty, and outdoorsy. There's not a lot of other buildings around, it's very open. The room was empty, and that's what we're doing right now, trying to get furniture for it. The staff were all very welcoming, very helpful, and always available for questions. They play cards and have happy hour on Fridays at four. They have poker on Tuesdays. They have art classes, movie nights, and all kinds of things. The food is good for you, which means it doesn't taste really good. I think they have to watch the salt and things like that. I would say that's a good variety."

"SoCo Village was nice. I like it and I put $500 down. The staff said that it's OK, that if I decide I don't want it, I could get it back because I have a few days to make a decision. The facility was very clean and bright. The staff was very friendly. The lady that waited on me was very knowledgeable. She gave me the opportunity to ask questions, and she took me around the whole facility. I also like the location because it's more central Austin. I didn't try the food, but it smelled good. The dining room was gorgeous like they had a regal-like restaurant. They have chandeliers and everything; it was really pretty. It was smaller compared to some of the other ones, but it was very nice, and they had activities. They have outdoor activities. The residents could plant things if they wanted to, and it was very nice. Then there was a trail right outside the door that walked around, and they could walk around there, and it was nice. It was smaller than the other places, but it was newer. I like it. The staff seemed nice."

"Argent Court was very nice, it was larger than the other place I went to, but it was a bit older. The staff was very helpful, they had a big board for activities, we saw them brought out a group of people in a van, and they were dining in a restaurant. They had a salon, and a reading area."

"The Park at Beckett Meadows was great. They were nice. Again, it was assisted living only. My other concern was the parking lot came right through the buildings. They didn’t have any patios too. The food was very good. They had a great activity; nightly or once a week, they have a movie night. Everybody was great that I talked to. They had always someone that would meet me, carry me around, take me on the tour, and show me one of the apartments that was not occupied or even occupied if somebody was not there. "

"Alexis Pointe is a beautiful facility with the kindest and most caring staff. Each time I visit, I witness another activity full of happy residents and hear of another event they are planning to celebrate a milestone birthday or honor a veteran. They also offer support groups for caregivers which has been so helpful. It is such a relief to know my loved one is being taken care of with the love, joy and compassion that I have prayed for."

"We visited Rio Terra. The rooms were smaller. I didn't see any activities while I was there. However, the dining area was somewhat better than what's at the other place. They have nicer appointment and such. Overall, Rio Terra was on the same scale as the other place. It was clean and nicely appointed."

"So far, New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care-Bastrop has been good. Like most facilities, there's never enough help, but the people they have working there are very kind and very attentive to my husband's needs. He feels that it's his home and so he's pretty comfortable there. The rooms are very nice. They're roomy. He's got a queen sized bed, a recliner/lift chair, a nightstand, a little table by his chair, a large entertainment center with TV, then another recliner, a dresser, and another little table. They have windows and a bathroom. It has a shower and a seat in it and a cabinet for their supplies and stuff. My husband says the food is good. They have snacks and stuff that are always available. They also have someone that comes in and does sing alongs and special things for holidays."

"My father is moving back into Brookdale Westlake Hills. It is very clean, very nice, the room has just been redone with new floors, it's freshly painted, and it's a good size. They've been very good at coordinating my dad's medical care, his trips to the hospital, and transitioning him to hospice. He was there for assisted living. The staff has been very helpful, very compassionate, and they're very confident. It's one room with its own bathroom, and it's private. They have book clubs, a dining room, there's a good menu, and I think they do music outside."

"I had family members that were at Romberg House Assisted Living. I like that it's in my husband's hometown. It was clean and I liked it very much. The staff are very good. They're warm, friendly, and helpful. The food is very good. They have activities, but I wasn't around for any of them. We just went to visit a relative and left. I was just there visiting. I didn't take a tour of the whole place."

"Our parents lived in a big house out in the country, and had been using home caregivers for 12-hour daytime care. Their declining health and their isolation, prompted us to seek out a different, better care situation for them, where they could continue to be together. We visited 5 assisted living communities that also had memory care units, and Ledgestone Assisted Living Community definitely surpassed them all!!! We were wowed when we first walked in the door by their beautiful open dining room, common living areas, and fully stocked bistro. We were further impressed when touring their spacious one bedroom apartments (perfect for our parents), their activity room and hair salon. We loved the calendar full of fun, varied activities, and learning about the availability of an in-house nurse practitioner and lab. We brought our mom to lunch and a tour. Although she said it was all very nice, she and our dad did NOT want to leave their home. However, with the amazing assistance of Marcia Lang, the Community Relationships Director, in a week’s time we had our parents moved in with their own familiar furniture surrounding them. After just two days of the delicious meals, and the lovely, conscientious caregivers and med techs, both our parents told us they loved their apartment and would be just fine there. My sister and I left that evening with happy tears and a huge sense of relief, knowing our parents were happy and well cared for. We are so grateful to the genuinely caring, competent staff at Ledgestone for helping them create a new home and a loving extended family. "

"I think Belmont Village West Lake Hills is the top one that I like. They have everything for a person that has Alzheimer's, like things that stimulate the mind and structure everyday. It keeps residents busy. The facilities are excellent and top quality. Everything is neat and clean. They have nurses on staff at all times and doctors who come in two or three times a week. They have a restaurant inside the place. The person gets to choose off the menu of quality food that is cooked by chef. It is really awesome and expensive but you get what you pay for. It is the most expensive one, but the quality of care is there. If you have the money, you don't have to worry about anything. It is the best. The staff is awesome and call you by name. What they have on the menu is awesome. I can tell the food is good."

"Mum has been a resident at Bois D'Arc for over four years and it has worked out really well for us. Bois D'Arc offers many services but I will only comment on a couple. I trust the way they administer Mum's medicines; considering her health issues, this is important to me. In terms of social interactions there are a lot of things going on - such as: regular trips out for things like shopping and haircuts; special outings like the local playhouse or parades; birthday celebrations; family events (good food); regular weekly activities like bingo, music; prayer services; and people will come in to speak on subjects of interest. I am sure there are more. Mum really likes it when she receives a visit from one of the outside groups that come in just looking to boost the elderly community. The staff is super nice and caring; it makes me feel good knowing Mum is receiving assistance every day with many things large and small. Bois D'Arc definitely gets my highest recommendation."
