At first, my husband and I were thrilled with this facility! A few weeks ago, mom became aggressive and had to go to the hospital to have her medications reviewed. Throughout her stay at the hospital, Overlook continually told us mom was welcomed back and everything would be fine. On the day she was supposed to be discharged, we were informed they had packed all her belongings and she was no longer a resident there. This came as quite a shock! My husband and I have no issue if the facility administrators had sat us down and said they felt her symptoms had progressed and we should look for another place while she is in the hospital. It's the WAY they kept assuring us that she was welcome back and then they just packed up her stuff and it was in the basement. We had to rush to find a suitable place as we did not want her moved around to confuse her more. It was very heartless and they did not take the patient into consideration at all. People with dementia have a hard time relocating and they taught us that. But they had no issue throwing her out on the street with not even one day's warning. I don't like that, and you shouldn't either. The staff are great. They are second to none and we are very appreciative to the care the nurses have given mom during her stay. Karen Mingain

One of the hardest decisions to ever make, is to place your parent in a nursing home. My husband's mom has dementia and it was getting harder to care for her every day. The staff at Overlook understand this disease, they are prepared for all the new struggles and have turned a very stressful situation into a pleasant one. Now we get to visit mom and ENJOY her company! They take extremely good care of her, she is always clean, she is talking more and has FRIENDS!! She actually smiles now when we come to visit. We hadn't see that smile in quite a while! What more could you want?
