"This facility treated my great-grandfather with the upmost respect. The staff was very friendly and treated all of us like family. They even had a cat that would wonder the floor, or building I should say. It was just a stray cat and when asked about it they said that the residents really enjoyed it so they didn't want to put it out. "

"My brother is at Burke Health & Rehabilitation Center. The care seems good. They seemed to be attentive. The food is OK. The OT and PT are very good. They seem to be adequately staffed, which is something that's kind of unusual in the rehab facilities that we've been in in the past. I can generally find somebody and they come in pretty quickly. It seems to be older, but it's clean."

"I would give Fairfax Nursing Home a high rating and that would be my first choice for my mother. I just noticed everyone seemed happier there at the time of my visit. They had a little breakfast room that had nice and comfortable furniture. Their rooms seemed to be spacious. We spoke to the person who gave us the tour and she was very good. What I like best about this place was that it did not smell. "

"My friend is in Dulles Health & Rehab Center. The place is very, very clean. This is probably the cleanest one that I've been to. The people are very nice. It's very easy to get around the space. I've only been there once, but my first impression was it's very a nice place. The staff members are very attentive. My friend wanted to walk to his room, and one of the girls noticed that it was still a long walk, so she came with a wheelchair, which he appreciated. He arrived just after dinner, so they made sure they grabbed him dinner so he could have something to eat as well. They were just very attentive and right there, as soon as you walked in, you were greeted by a nice gentleman right up front. I saw a rehab room, it was very spacious, and it had a lot of rehab equipment in it. The building itself is very nice. They have wide open spaces which I find to be nice. It is in a nice setting. The back window opens right in the back, so you can see the trees and the little park area, so it's nice."

"Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia is like the gold standard. My aunt was there for 10 days, possibly two weeks at most. It's an amazing facility. It was very clean. The one caseworker I had a year ago was not great. I requested the change, and so I had a different one, and she's amazing. They did a great job with therapy. They monitored her carefully when she got a UTI. They had actual doctors. I got to talk to doctors while she was there. She had a large room. They accommodated her palate when she wasn't gaining enough weight. They worked with her and a nutritionist to find things that she would enjoy eating. They even gave her a protein ice cream just to make sure that she was getting what she needed. They were very organized and very detailed. We had copies of everything that she did. She knew when they were going to come and pick her up, so she could be ready. They take such good care of the patients there. With the exception of that one case manager, everybody was amazing and super helpful. They even trained us, the family, on how to safely help her from a chair into a car or from the wheelchair to the bed. They educated us. They even gave me a book on chemical brain injuries, so I could understand what she was going through. It really is like a magical place. The therapy room was massive, and everything was clean. It never smelled. They had a dining area, but they did not have activities and stuff because it was only for shorter stays."

"I have very high regard for The Virginian. My wife stayed in their skilled nursing facility for about 50 days. The service was good and the meals were terrific. They fed my wife along with the other residents of the skilled nursing facility the same menu as the residents who were fed on independent living and assisted living areas of the facility. The staff was outstanding. They published a calendar of activities and brought them to my wife's attention, but there was no interest. The pricing seemed to be not that bad compared to other senior facilities. I would rank them very highly on the cost side. Given the pricing information on what it would cost, it seemed competitively pretty good. A woman by the name of Lorna, who manages one of the wings of the skilled nursing facility, went out of her way on the day of my wife's discharge from the hospital. This lady kept her office open till about 7:15 in the evening to ensure that my wife could be fully checked in. But that was just one of many, many five-star things that the skilled nursing facility did for my wife while she was there."

"I had reservations about even visiting this facility based upon the horrible reviews on the web, however, I was EXTREMELY surprised upon my visit and interaction with the staff while there. This center is obviously under a new manager and she is dedicated to the 'betterment' of the care for each patient there. My loved one is there for rehab and the therapy is great. She doesn't much care a lot for the food but the manager assured me she would make sure her preferences were honored. All in all, I think this facility has been given a bad rap based upon a bad past history. I would recommend this center to anyone. By the way, it does NOT smell at all and the patients appear happy. "

"I was visiting somebody that lived in a senior living community. Everybody was very happy, very cordial, and very welcoming. Food was good. We were just visiting a friend. I went there off of Fairfax County Parkway. My friend had her own apartment. The staff was great. The residents were great."

"Greenspring Village had more things happening than the other place. Also, I felt like the people who were living there seemed to be more independent. They had younger, more varied age groups. We met my mom's friend, and then she took us on a tour, and we had lunch with her. The food was excellent. My mom's friend's apartment was good-sized. Her kitchen was larger than the kitchen my mom has in her townhouse. It was nice. I liked that a lot."

"My mother goes to Leewood for respite. I have nothing but good things to say about them! They take care of my mom, she loves being with them. She's always happy to see everyone and her friends! She participates in activities, she eats very well there and she has fun! My mother is a stroke patient, she is unable to speak many words as well as use her right arm. They are always assisting her and making her comfortable! Amy- the director, always goes beyond the call of duty. She runs a wonderful place, and it shows by the caring nature of her staff! When my mother is in their care, I literally have nothing to worry about! They are our second family, and I am truly blessed to have them in our lives. "

"My mother was a resident at Iliff Nursing Home for 61/2 years. I am so thankful that she was well taken care of. The staff became her family away from home. They made her feel special. It is true that sometimes the response from the nurses/nurses aids weren't as prompt as we would like it. However we have to remember that they have a very though job taking care of all their patients that are all incapacitated. The staff is adequate and caring. They have lots of activities that my mother used to enjoy . She had the best medical care and I was kept well informed. After a two day stay in the hospital we were told that she needed to go into Hospice care . We decided to take her back to Iliff so that she could be among her own surroundings. She passed away peacefully 11 days later. On my many visits I interacted with some residents and I got positive feedback. I have visited people in other nursing homes and I will say that Iliff is in the top of my list. "

"When I was researching short term rehab for my Uncle I was hesitant due to being from Eqypt and being Muslim we typically care for our elders ourselves. Despite this, I had to place my Uncle since I was going to England for a business trip. The facility was the only one I looked at that actually cared about my uncle, made sure I was notified of his progress and got his strength back! Many facilities dont have private rooms , more importantly rehab 7 days a week, for this I choose GOLDEN LIVING. If you want your loved one taken care of choose this facility, I live in north Alexandria but drive a bit of a distance to make sure my uncle gets the best quality care. "

"My mother is in Oak Springs of Warrenton. I picked them because they have an Alzheimer's unit that has full care. This place takes beautiful care of her. They have medicines to make her stop crying. They bend over backwards to get her back to where she is actually smiling, and I love it. I love that place. It is very pretty. They have a garden with tomato plants for each different unit. They have rehabilitation, a full long-term nursing care, and full long-term nursing care for people with Alzheimer's and dementia. The floors are clean. The food comes in on a serving cart that they bring to the table. It is not pre-plated; they plate it right there while they are waiting, and nobody gets cold food. It is absolutely wonderful, and the set-up is unbelievable. They have activities like music, movies, and karaoke. A guy comes in and sings. They play something called jingo. They have 3 or 4 different churches that come in on Sunday mornings. Every other week, they have a black gospel choir that comes in about 2:30 in the afternoon. I witness it when I come in there, and my mother loves it. They just think of just about everything. "
