"This facility is a beautiful facility, in an old Civil War-era mansion. There are ample ground. I visited there several times as a volunteer. The facilities are relatively clean but when I was there the smell was terrible. I know many people are sick and dying, and that's the purpose of such a home but it was different from the clean, antiseptic hospital smell I am used too. The staff is good but they appear to be overwhelmed. They are very, very busy. As a volunteer, you see the loneliness of many residents and the nurses have so much physical care to attend to, that emotional care is lacking. Many residents sit by the windows all day in wheelchairs and those are the lucky ones. I find the staff to be tense and curt many times. Its as if they don't want to deal with volunteers requests or questions. I think the facility is impressive from the outside and the lobby is tasteful and ornate but the actual physical rooms are no different than any hospital. "
