"We toured Kruse Village. I liked the site and the setting that it was in. The landscape was very nice. The cottages were spaced out in a wooded area. It was much roomier than some places. There was nothing to find fault with it. The prices were a little high for us; but as things go, they were very moderate. The staff that gave the tour was very informed, very helpful, and had a lot of answers I liked. The facility was nice. There were big closets, and it's kept up well. The one thing is that the location is not very good. It's too far from our doctors, but there's a hospital in town."

"My mother has been in the Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for less than a week now. I've had no problems with them. I've taken a COVID test so I could go and visit her and she was also tested before she moved in there from East Texas. She is in the isolation wing right now and she's not liking it, but she understands. The staff seemed very nice, friendly, and very helpful. Anything that I've asked, they are able to provide answers. My mom is not eating well and she has to have soft food, but they have been offering her other things to make sure she doesn't get sick. The place is clean, but when I got into my mother's room, they hadn't changed her bed and she has incontinence problems. I understand why they don't have so many people in that wing, but it only takes one person to do it. Once she gets moved to a room, hopefully they'll have more help and they'll be able to take better care of changing her bed."

"I would like to acknowledge that this nursing facility eve though short on staff during the covid 19 took really good care of my mother during her two week stay after having broke her hip. Rooms were clean, staff was amazing and took the time needed to take care of my mother which was highly appreciated. Therapist is the best and very motivating . My mother loved the food . I would like to add each time we came to check in on our mother and visit with her I personally took notes. I liked that the residents were either outside in the front soaking up some sunshine, or outside int he back enjoying fresh air, I noted residents were clean, well fed, lot of interaction with other residents / staff, the facility itself was clean, no bad odors at all. Staff is very friendly . Maintenance men were right there to fix any issues that came up . Over all I was very impressed. "

"The Langford at College Station was really nice. The staff who gave the tour was good. She was really nice and gave us a lot of information. But she held us up until the end, and she said there's a $42,000 buy-in. Nevertheless, they had just about everything. They had a place to eat, a library, a common room, a place for different things like a gym, and then they had another room that was almost like a theater. It was really nice and very nicely decorated."

"I can not say enough about Accel. This is one of the nicest, cleanest, felt like home rehabilitation centers I’ve ever seen. The staff is so helpful, welcoming and supportive. I do not have any complaints about this place they took good care of my father and always made me feel like he was well taken care of and treated with respect and dignity. The rooms have their own bathrooms, the food was healthy and prepared according to my dad’s diet. The nurses were knowledgeable and always willing to go the extra mile. The medication aides, medical records clerk, front desk, the entire staff was just a blessing to me and my family. Keep up the good work Accel employed they all deserve a raise for being exceptional. "I went to this facility to visit one of my family members. The first thing I must say is the staff members were really nice and helpful. The building was was a little older but it was very clean. I went to my family member room the room was a bit small, but I was happy that it was clean. While visiting I had to use her restroom and the restroom was really old with a really low bath tub. She told me that she didn't take a bath in tub; she went to the shower room to take baths. Therefore, I felt much better. The staff members did come by on many occasions to see if we needed anything, which I thought was great. I just wasn't really impressed with the structure of the building and it wasn't updated. I did walk her to dinning area, which was small and clean. I wasn't really impressed because the area was old and you can see how old the building was. After all, I think it's alright place to live if you don't mind it not being very new. I can say my family member has been happy there and she has lived there for a while. "

Many seniors and their families use some form of financial assistance to help them pay for nursing care. The main options available are Medicare, Medicaid and veterans benefits. These programs can be complicated, especially when it comes to benefit terms. Below, we give a brief overview of how these programs may be used towards paying for skilled nursing care.
If these options aren't available to you, check if your loved one has long-term care insurance or contact your Area Agency on Aging to ask about local financial assistance programs for seniors.
There are several other care options to consider that may better suit a senior's needs or budget. For individuals who want to age in place at home, in-home care and home health care are suitable options. Home health care, which includes light medical services similar to nursing care, is roughly $140 less expensive than a nursing home, while in-home care is about $280 less. Assisted living offers less specialized care than a nursing home, so costs are lower, averaging $3,998 per month.
