"Marjorie's Home is a house versus a facility, so you walk in and you kind of feel like you've walked in to Grandma's house. It's not new nor fancy, and it doesn't have any bells and whistles. It is just Grandma's house, and it even smells like Grandma's house, but it doesn't smell like a nursing home. It is a small facility with 6 bedrooms, so there are only 6 clients who can live there. The 2 nurses who worked the day shift are very knowledgeable, made me feel very comfortable, and when I asked questions like "Would my mom be able to bake cookies if she wanted?" they were like "Of course she could!" If she wants to garden, she can go garden, and they would prefer her not wandering down the street by herself, but she won't be locked in a ward. She would have more one-on-one time. I feel like the ladies here would interact with my mom so we could be more present longer. "

"My mother was in Regent Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare for rehab, after leaving the hospital. It's top of the line, but it's expensive. The staff was very good. It's a very nice, and well laid-out facility. It's spotless, it's one of the cleanest places I've seen. She seemed to like the food. It was a very nice room. It was a large room, she had a private room. It's got a nice TV in there, the whole bed. It was real. They've got some therapy-type exercise equipment that people can use to kind of help build back muscles and stuff like that. They cater to the upper echelon. So it is fairly expensive."

"This place has a wonderful, caring staff. Our Mother lived the last few years there. She had healthy meals and a great group of care-givers. "

"We’re going to move to Larksfield at the end of next month. They give you a wonderful tour when you go out; you just have to make a reservation. Right now, they don’t have a lot of rooms in the medium price range. It takes approximately 90 days before you can move in because they go in and repaint, put new carpet in, and do anything else that needs to be done before you move in. They have a gym and a swimming pool and, if I should ever need physical therapy, they have a complete physical therapy department. It has everything we were looking for. It really is a nice facility and ideal for somebody who is looking for something a little more upscale. They have vans and weekly trips to the grocery store or the drugstore or wherever you might need to go. You can sign up for the van, and they take you wherever you need to go. We’re just really looking forward to moving in. They also have a lovely dining room and a little bistro where you can go in and have soups and salads and things like that if you don’t want a full meal. They also have a little grocery store for picking up little things, like bread. "

"Ascension Via Christi Rehabilitation Hospital was extremely clean, probably the cleanest place I've ever been. They changed the beds every day. I didn't have one nurse that wasn't friendly. Every one of them were good and friendly, and I barely pressed the button. They were there and were very good about helping me with anything I needed. The rehab place was crazy amazing. It's huge and it's got this OT room that's like a city, and people can practice going to Walmart and to a restaurant, and it looks just like the real places. They have food on the shelves like Walmart would set it up. It's so cool. They had a car that you could practice getting in and out of. They had all kinds of computer stuff you could work on in there. There's so much different stuff in their main room that I had never seen before that I worked on. They kept moving, and they only have 40 beds there, but they were busy. They also had outpatient rehab. Every one of the therapists helped me. They helped me with everything. They were so good. Different doctors came in every single day. The rooms were bigger than the other places, and very nice. I get out of the bed and they would have it changed. They were so good at that, and making sure I had showers, and helped me with that. The food was way better. It had more fruits and vegetables that you could pick from every day. It just seemed like it was a way better menu. I want to tell people to go over there and check their menu out. They had fresh fruit they could get every day. They had like five or six different vegetables you could get, different potatoes, things like that."

"My father was a recent patient at ManorCare. The staff was wonderful, and very caring. The facility was clean, and welcoming. The administrative staff went out of their way to make sure my family was comfortable while visiting. The food was good as well, and there was always activities going on. I would highly recommend ManorCare to anyone looking for either rehab as a short stay, or for long term care. It is close to shopping and restaurants, and easy access to the highway. "

"Best thing about this facility is that it is small and in a country setting. If you are a local and need this level of care, it is here for you. This is especially important to family members that want to be able to visit regularly. The nursing home is a part of the larger owned Lakepoint family of nursing and long term care providers. I would say this is a decent, solid choice, but nothing remarkable comes to mind. "

"Rooms are small. Very often understaffed. No teamwork among staff, which results often in residents being overlooked or neglected. Very high staff turnover. Some staff have very poor attitudes. Management more interested in lining pockets by filling beds than providing quality care. Food terrible. Menu limited and quality poor. Residents offered no outings other than doctor appointments. "

"My friend moved into Life Care Center of Wichita. It has been about 6 weeks and I like it. The staff seemed to be very friendly, and doing their jobs. It's clean, and I know they're short staffed and busy. I had Thanksgiving dinner with them and it was good."

"I have three adult Wards residing at this facility. It may not be the best facility in the city, but there is always plenty of staff, they take the patients out on excursions all the time, whenever I call they are very helpful, very organized and seem to know the needs of each patient. In my experience, it has appeared to be clean and orderly, my Wards are happy there. I have been there several times and each time, I am greeted by staff members who appear to enjoy their jobs. They are a Medicaid-accepting facility, which is good because many folks just don't have the money to afford a more upscale facility. I have one Ward there for whom they have bent over backwards to assist in his rehabilitation (alcoholism). The staff goes above and beyond what they need to do. They have an outdoor area which is well-supervised and a security system so that those who shouldn't go out, don't. They take in a varied clientele - mostly mental health issue patients. Again, my Wards have made friends and don't call and ask to be moved to another facility. They are happy there and that's all that counts. "

"Would definitely not be my first choice if options are available. This nursing home is located at corner of Oliver and 13th St. in Northeast Wichita. This is an older campus and looks more like an institutional facility. Very little in the way of ambiance. The rooms have a cold feel to them and the grounds are pretty much cement and driveway. Traffic is busy in this area as the university is nearby and these two streets are main arteriesin the city . However, it is easy to get here. Social service department is very active and helpful for those needing to tap into Medicaid or other support services. Food is pretty good. Be sure to check the public survery. "

"This facility was spacious and had a very friendly environment. However, the building itself was quite old, although the staff did their best to make it look nice with lovely decorations. The staff themselves were very efficient. They seemed to attend to those in need very quickly, even when staffing was short on a few different occasions. My grandmother seemed to love the food and activities provided by the faculty. She even made friends with a few others and some of the staff members were nice enough to take them out to dinner a few times, on their own time, and paying with their own money. I gave the facility a rating of four out of five because the staff couldn't be better, but the shape of the facility itself could definitely improve. Regardless of how I feel about the shape of the building, my grandmother loved it and seemed very pleased with her decision to live there. Altogether, she lived there for four years before passing away. "

"My wife is in Derby Health & Rehab. They're an excellent facility. It is relatively new and it is a community-type thing. They have assisted living and independent living, and they even have a dialysis center on campus. There are four buildings that are all connected for rehab and long-term care and their facilities are very nice. Their rooms are a pretty good size. There's plenty of room to have four or five chairs in there. Last Monday was my wife's birthday and they have a conference room and we had 26 people there. They allowed us to bring in the cake and the whole thing. She had a great birthday here. The staff is all very friendly. They work very hard to make your life comfortable while you're here. Everybody has cranky moments, but for the most part, they are willing participants and take care of your needs. I was here for 33 days this year after I had a DKA and they did everything they could to help me out. Their therapists are excellent. They will do everything they can to gently drive you to get better. I had to learn how to walk and how to be a one-legged man for a while. I went home with the confidence that I could take care of myself without any problem. They take care of my wife. We've been looking for a place now for a week and have not succeeded in finding a place to get out of here. Just because we were supposed to have left a week ago doesn't mean that they aren't still taking care of my wife in an excellent fashion. It's a great place to be. They don't have any openings for long-term care right now. In the meantime, we're here waiting to find someplace and they're still taking care of her. They're not doing any physical therapy right now. They've got an excellent staff. I have not met anyone on staff who wasn't a real helper for the patients. I had eaten their meals. They could stand to improve there a little bit. They serve good food, but sometimes not. Some of their combinations are at least not to my palate. You get an ample amount of food. You can get service in your room or at the common table. It is very expensive though. This place is probably comparable to most facilities that have skilled nursing. They have activities every day. They have bingo at least three times a week. They play dominoes and cards, and they have little ice cream socials and a lot of different activities. No matter who you are, you can probably find something that is to your interest. They make sure that you have an opportunity to be involved in activities."

"It was close to my home, and the rooms at the memory and assisted living were fancy, nice and roomy, with a bed, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. They had a big dining room, and they built the floors to look like a house so when you walked in, the rooms were in a so-called house, but it was a façade of a house when you walked in the door. The people were also great in explaining things to us."
