"This facility that my mother (age 87) stayed in during her rehab from a broken pelvis was wonderful from the moment she was wheeled in! Her stay was 28 days and they welcomed her with loving kindness from the get go. All benefits and patient responsibilities were very clear and they even assisted with ordering equipment needed during and after her release. Her meals were planned with a personal meeting with the dietician. They have a very caring staff and my mother felt safe there. "

"My family and I decided it was time to place my beloved father in a nursing home due to the fact that we could no longer care for him at home. This was the harderst decision we have ever had to make in our lives. However, we are very lucky to find such a caring, loving, and truly life saving facility as Destin Healthcare. The staff there strive to make a difference in everyone's life that they come into contact with. My father is very well taken care of. The staff are very open, honest and friendly. This is a very home-like environment. I am also friends with the family members of other residents of this faciliy and everone couldn't be happier with their decision to come to Destin Healthcare. This is why when I read the review saying that Destin Healthcare was so awful I was completely confused. I have never experienced anything like what was decribed. Sometimes we have trouble accepting the fact that Mom or Dad are ill, not understanding why things happen the way that they do and taking it out on others. My only thought for that family is that everything is okay with them and that they find the peace of mind that they need! As for my family and my father, we couldn't be happier. I would really just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at Destin Healthcare for taking such great care of my father. I truly believe in the staff there and the care that they provide for each and every one of their residents!"

"Overall the Chautauqua center is built well, and physically maintained well. It is clean on the inside and out, and has a very presentable appearance. The facility offers a courtyard and cafeteria, and a social lobby for residents. I however was very displeased with the service being provided, there were at times residents sitting in the hallway for hours in their wheelchair, doing nothing but drooling and moaning. It is not the facility itself but most definitely some of the workers present. Some of the caregivers I met were extremely polite and well mannered, however some chose to look at you with daggers, and ignore you entirely. My own grandmother was neglected a few times until we pulled her out of the facility. She was left in bed all day, and wasn't given a bath. It seems like some workers preferred to give them their pills for the day and leave them alone. Great facility with poor staffing, it needs better management. "

"Parthenon Healthcare Of Fort Walton is a very nice facility. It is very clean and one does not get the all too familiar "nursing home" smell when entering the facility. I always see the cleaning staff cleaning the halls and rooms when I'm there. The staff has always been very nice, helpful, and accommodating to us whenever we have questions. I've noticed that they are also very nice and attentive to the patients as well. The patients always look clean and look well cared for.On the downside, the patients often complain about the food. The food looks good, but they say it does not taste good. Patients that are well enough to go to the dining room, get a hot fresh meal. However, the bedridden patients often complain that the food is cold by the time it gets to them. I would highly recommend the company get better food carts and/or trays to keep the food hot, so everyone can enjoy a hot meal. "

"I have moved my dad into Silvercrest. The staff has been very helpful, friendly, and seem to genuinely care about their patients. They have a doctor that comes in. There is an exercise area and fun activities related to the time of the year, whether it is Super Bowl party, Valentine's, or whatever. They can get a haircut there, and they have a laundry facility. If he is hungry at 1:00 in the morning, they will give him snacks. It is good care. If there is anything I wish were slightly different, it would be that the rooms were a little larger so there could be two or three chairs. They are not too small, but there are two people in his room, so if you have several family members visiting at once, there isn't room for several people to sit. There are also rooms down the hall where you can go and sit. "
