"If you love your “loved one” and want to have them in the finest place for the cost, avoid Knollwood at all costs. Their boutique rooms have not been updated since the 1980’s and there is no hope of your loved one being saved should an emergency arise. They are understaffed and while not listed as a “memory care facility,” they do have patients who fall in that category. The food is awful, they overmedicate and under attend their “residents.” I have seen patients in jail who received better care and attention. The average time for a diaper change is 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. When choosing a place for your family, or anyone you esteem, avoid Knollwood because it is a nightmare not a dream."

"This has to be one of the cleanest nursing facilities I've ever visited. Upon entering the building there is no odors, and the staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. "

"My sister is at Allen Memorial Home. She has a private room. She does not have a bathroom, but she does have a place to wash your hands and a lavatory. She has a closet for her clothes. She's got a chest for her clothes. She has a TV. The room is very clean. In fact, the facility is very clean. It's an older facility. I don't know how old it is, but it's probably one of the oldest. It is very clean. The staff is very good and very concerned. My sister was difficult to begin with, because she was not on the right medication. However, if I had to go somewhere, I would go to Allen Memorial Home. In fact, my husband's two sisters were at Allen Memorial Home, and back then, it was just as good as it is now. They take very good care of their patients. They have activities. They have a beauty shop that my sister can go to on Mondays. I just really like it. They have a dining area, but my sister has food in her room. The food is good though. She is very satisfied with it. The staff that I met was great. I don't know what it costs because my sister is on Medicare and Medicaid."

"The nurses that I met while visiting this facility were nice while in my presence. I personally believe however that they contributed to my fathers death. Before my Father had been in this facility he was in another facility located in Daphne, AL for a month or two with no problems. Within two to three days of being moved to Eight Mile Nursing and Rehabilitation my fathers condition deteriorated extremely fast. He went from being awake and conscious to sleeping all day long and not being able to wake up even when any of my family would come to see him. I was very disturbed by this behavior since my father never slept this much before moving to this facility. After a few days my father was moved to the hospital and remained there for a few weeks until he was able to come home even though his condition was still not that of before he went to the nursing home. A few weeks later my father passed away. I believe that eight mile nursing and rehabilitation sedated him so they didn't have to deal with him and because he was asleep all the time they neglected to try and keep him hydrated which worsened his condition and eventually contributed to his death. "

"My mom, 94 years old, has been a resident of Gulf Coast Health and Rehabilitation for about 3 years. The facility is always clean and well managed. Every concern we have had has been addressed immediately with respect and compassion. The quarterly care meetings (either in person or over the phone) we have with the staff are always informative, organized and very beneficial. The entire staff has always been polite, helpful, friendly, and courteous to us and goes above and beyond to meet mom's needs. Mom is well taken care of and happy which means we're happy. I have no problem recommending this facility."

"I toured Westminster Village - Spanish Fort. The residents looked very involved and very happy. They have lots of programs going out and lots of things for the people to do. It's very clean and very pretty. And all the employees are super nice. Everyone knows your name. The main reason that I like it is that as you get older and need more care, you can advance up to the assisted living and then to the nursing level. It is all contained. I haven't lived there yet, but from what I saw, read, and looked into, I'm very impressed with it, and I've looked at several places in this area. I have tried their food, and it's delicious. I feel like it's a better deal than any place else I've looked at. I feel like it offers a lot, too. It has a gym, a swimming pool, and a woodworking shop. They have gardening, dancing, and sewing classes. There are lots of groups as well."

"Easternshore rehab is convenient to my home, it was available so I got a room for my mom and it's very, very nice. I am very pleased with the staff. They have church, games, TV and people who come in every now and then to entertain the residents. My mom is very happy with the food there. I would recommend this place to others. "

"It was a pleasant place with a warm and bright feel to it. The staff seemed very friendly and caring toward their patients and the patients were noticably appreciative of it. The food seemed good, not too bland but easy to handle for the patients so there was little problem. The rooms were inviting and everyone there liked to have company and be entertained which they often were. I was thankful to know that not all retirement facilities were as bad as they were made out to be and there are great ones out there just like Mercy Medical. "

"My mother in Montrose Bay, which is in our community. It is fine, and everything is good. They have something going on every day. The food looks good. It is a good, nice place that has everything they need. "
