"Somerby of Mobile was wonderful, but they're out of our price range. They also showed us their memory care facilities. It's absolutely excellent, exceptional, from what I could tell, and very kind. We could be in the middle of a conversation and if one of their residents walked by, they were gonna speak to them. They really seemed to care about their residents. The place was beautiful, clean, and very well prepared. They're doing very well at abiding by their restrictions that caused so much trouble for everyone really. They offered a free 2-person Thanksgiving meal whether you were living there or not, so I was able to pick my parents up a meal from there and take it to them, and that was just for inquiring with the place. That really impressed me. They were a little more expensive, but everything that we experienced was wonderful. The sweet lady there was very helpful and just really seemed to want to help us and make sure that my parents got in the right place. The staff was amazing. I've not been able to walk and I was in a wheelchair because of stress affecting my legs and my husband was pushing me around in a wheelchair and we came across these two lady workers there and they were absolutely precious. I really wish we could put my mother there, but we can't afford it. All of them were kind, outspoken, and genuine. I was just very impressed. I didn't get to meet a whole lot of the staff. They had a lot of activities. They offer a wide variety of amenities as well. They keep their residents busy and active to the best of their ability. They had puzzles, games, and board games. We haven't been able to experience those things just yet, but they seemed to have a lot to offer. The Thanksgiving meal given was delicious. They seemed to have a very highly rated menu that they get to choose from every single day, probably like being on a cruise ship. I don't have any negative experiences."

"Murray House is so caring and wonderful. The staff and residents make up a family. The staff truly cares and Murray House has more nurses than any other assisted living we looked at for my grandmother. My grandmother was there for 10 years and we never had any problems."

"Gordon Oaks was very clean. The people who gave me the tour were very kind and explanatory. I liked their dining room. The way it's open and very pleasant. They have private and semi-private rooms, and the residents are able to bring their own familiar things there. They have a salon and an exercise room."

"Knollwood Pointe was a small facility, but a lot of the residents were out in the halls. They were active, bright-eyed, and wanted to carry on conversations. Morale seemed high there with the residents and the staff. It's an excellent facility. I didn't see anything that needed improvement there. I was only there for 30 minutes or so but it was a very open, welcoming feeling facility."

"I had an in-person tour. It was a friendly environment. The residents seemed to be happy. The staff was nice and very helpful. There wasn't really anything I didn't like, except for the price. They have activities, beauty salons, and enough stuff to keep the residents active. The facility was very clean."

"This assisted living is not a very well managed place. I know a person who has lived there and I visited on a few locations. The first thing you notice pulling up is that the location is not a wonderful spot. It is in a field along a very windy road. The outside is not kept up very well and does not look very welcoming. The staff is anything but good. They act great to your face but when it comes to care they are lacking. They do not seemed to be managed very well and seem to complain alot about the assisted living. Most of the patients have demensia so some of them are not aware of their surrondings and so not alot of complaints come from them.I would suggest not to put a loved one in this place. If you do you should stop by atleast two time a week to check on them and make sure they are treated well and clean. Also I was tould by a staff member that sometimes the bills are not payed ontime and the power, water or other services are turned off. Also the industrial coffee maker was confiscated after failed payment. Which once agian shows the lack in managment and or ownership. Be careful and keep your eyes open. "

"Unfortunately, myself and my families experience with this facility was anything but good. We were lied to about the kind of care they can provide, both legally ( as they are an Alf facility) and medically. They accepted my Father who was in late stage alz/dem knowing FULL well how bad it was. They took 3.400.00 of my elderly Mothers, accepted without ANY doctor orders or other protocol that is mandated in Alabama. Kept him for 4 days of which not ONE was a full day or night, We were there for almost all of what little time he was there and the time we did leave him alone, he was medicated on Serequil so heavily, that he fell and was unconscious,it wasnt until my husband and I arrived 20 minutes later they even considered calling an ambulance. Our encounter with them did not stop there......however to sum it up in the end they had him 4 days total accepted him when they were not licensed to do so and refused to give us back any portion of the money. we are in t process of pursuing them legal;y. I URGE you to look elsewhere. If you look atthe current residents they are all like zombies because they are so heavily medicated "

"I liked Westminster Village. The physical therapist was on duty 8 hours a day, and there's a hairdresser right there in the building. The biggest thing that I liked about it was that they do not put anybody out. Once you lived there, it was like progressing. If you were physically or mentally disabled, they would move you to a different wing. They would give you constant care if you needed and your prices do not go out or down. Once you signed in on a certain amount of rent, that's it for the rest of your life. It was beautiful. It was surrounded with trees and flowerbeds that were well taken care of. It was really nice. The layout of the building was beautiful. I looked at the cottages and the rooms, and they were both very nice. Everybody was just wonderful. They were just very friendly. "

"I looked at Gardens of Daphne for my mom. They looked pretty good. It’s an older building with a salon, and the rooms are carpeted. They had a big-screen TV on which they watch movies, eat popcorn, and sit in comfortable couches out in the common areas. "

"We were very impressed with Baldwin House Assisted Living when we visited. We spoke to some of the residents and they were all very happy. They welcomed us with open arms. "

"The Huntingdon was a wonderful place. It didn't take us long to find out that there were no openings, so we didn't go too far into it. It's an old grand hotel that they made out, so everything was so nice and clean. The person we talked to was very good and very nice. They showed us the pool, their own garden, and there were people sitting, watching television. It's a very nice and beautiful place."

"The staff members at the Citronelle Convalescent Center were very professional. They made sure my friend had everything she needed. Once a nurse even asked if there was anything that she could get me. Because my friend was near the end of her battle, the nurses (and her doctor) allowed her to have chocolate milk and mini snickers bars, her favorite, almost every day. They also respected her wish for them not to hold the milk carton for her, so that she may retain her dignity. The only problem that I had was there was another elderly woman in my friend's room who constantly aggravated her. Frequently, the woman would stare at my friend and make noises to annoy her. The nurses suggested that I pull the curtain to block the other woman's view of my friend. However, this woman would still try to annoy my friend and interrupt my visits with her, perhaps out of jealousy. However, the facility and its staff are great overall. Also, the facility appeared spotless every time I visited. Unfortunately, I was out of town when my friend passed, but I take comfort in knowing that she was in really good hands. "
