"McCarthy Court was very nice and had a wide variety of rooms which was great. The staff was very helpful and nice, even the custodians who were walking around. The dining area was very spacious and clean. They had a shuttle to doctors' appointments and shopping. I saw some of the residents playing bingo and bridge when we were there. They didn't have a pool but they did have a salon. All of the residents seemed to love it there, and the staff was very nice. "

"Navion of New Bern was more like home. It was roomy and spacious. It was a home environment. The staff who gave the tour was friendly and kind. I also met the marketing director and another individual. I talked to both. The place was very clean."

"From the moment we walked in for a tour, through my Dad's stay in long term care, and during his passing, we were welcomed with open arms and treated like family. Dad's care team provided personalized care for his specific needs, and he became attached to the staff who cared for him, talked and laughed with him, and comforted him when he wasn't feeling well. The staff went above and beyond to help us ensure his needs and desires were met. Dad said the best things about staying at Brook Stone were the staff and the food! (The food is very good, family ate with him when visiting.) The day before he passed away, staff notified us immediately that they noticed a decline and we were able to be with him that day, through the night and the morning of his passing. His aides and nurses gave us respect and privacy but were there at every moment we needed something. When he passed, they cried with us and helped us manage the necessary, emotional tasks needed at the time with great respect and care. We were treated kindly and professionally by every staff member we met at Brook Stone. The staff truly act as a team, helping each other and assisting residents and family members as needed. The facility is older and maybe not as fancy as newer buildings, but the people who live and work there make it a lovely home and care center. We had a positive experience and encourage you to visit if looking for care for your loved one."

"My relative is in Truewood by Merrill, New Bern. She moved to their independent living. What stood out to me were the area, the living facility itself, and the staff. I haven't had any problems so far. I've only met them one time, but the staff members were pleasant. I sampled the food one time, and it was also okay. Her place wasn't finished when we went there, though. They still had a couple more things to do. They have all the activities the other places have, but I have not been to any of them."

"The Viridian was brand new, very posh, very modern, clean, with high ceilings, and very welcoming at the same time. They had a grand piano in the foyer, glass everywhere, that kind of place. Everybody I met was wonderful. The tour was excellent. They were very knowledgeable. They have a doctor on staff, which is nice for an assisted living place. They had a wonderful rec room. They had a media room where they had a gigantic TV for people to watch movies. They had the standard barber. The whole place was very slick. There's no carpet because the carpet is a trip hazard. It's just flat tile throughout. The rooms were quite large. They were very well set out. We did not eat lunch there, but we saw menus and the food looked really good based on the menu alone. There's a separate dining room for company, if you want to have a big Thanksgiving dinner, and you arrange it. There's a huge dining room table where your whole family can come. They do trips. They have an activities director, so something is going on all the time, all day, games and that sort of thing."

"We toured The Gardens of Trent. We toured the entire facility. It was very nice. It was clean. The staff was very nice and very helpful. I think the manager, her name was Kris, and she was very informative. She walked us around and answered all of our questions. I had a very good experience there. The dining area was nice. It was well laid out for COVID safety as well. Everything was spaced out and there were some TVs in there, and people sitting together, and it was nice. It was a little dreary. There was no carpeting on the floor, so it was very cold. They could use an upgrade with some decorations and some carpeting on the floor. The other thing that I wasn't happy about was that they didn't have the ability for the residents to have TVs in their room. There was no cable or internet going into the facility. I asked if I brought my mom there if I could bring a TV for her, and they said that was fine, but there's no cable coming into the building. I wasn't really happy about that. The rooms were clean. They were cold. But they said if you wanted to bring in carpeting and curtains and things like that, you could bring stuff in for the room. They showed us a single room and a double room, and they were both a nice size, they were big enough. They had their own bathroom and a closet. A lot of people bring in their own blankets and mattresses just so that the residents can be more comfortable, and that was nice to hear. Everything looked very clean. They had just taken down some decorations and they were getting ready to redecorate for springtime. The grounds seemed like they were very well-kept. Everything was clean, neat, and very orderly. The staff mentioned that there was a salon. The staff were all very nice and very friendly. Everybody who walked by spoke to us."

"My mom is doing rehab at PruittHealth - Neuse in New Bern. They're releasing her this coming Thursday. The facility is clean and the staff is very helpful, very kind, and answered any kind of questions we had. They're treating my mom well. She also loves the food there. What I like most is the people that worked with my mom because they showed her a lot of care and engaged her in a lot of conversations. That was good for her socially and health-wise. There was just one nurse that I felt was a little harsh but she was only there one time. Everybody else, the ones bringing the food and the CNAs, were outstanding. One concern we had was when they review her medication list, they took away certain medications that we have worked hard to get for her. It just kind of seemed like when she had a particular complaint and I was trying to get that medicine back on her list, they kind of gave her a hard time about it."

"The people at Croatan Village were really nice and very caring. The facility was about average, but I think it's the people that made it. They were very interested in their clients' well-being. They had all sorts of activities lined up. They're great to talk to. The staff member during the tour was very outgoing, very knowledgeable, a real people person, and seemed to know everybody that walked by in the hallway and what was going on in their lives. We went and talked to one of the residents that was in the assisted living, and she's a very nice lady, showed us around, and toured her room. We went and looked at the activity center and we looked out on the courtyard with the garden where they're growing vegetables and flowers for their group. I would definitely recommend it. The people were really caring there. The lady that runs it has been doing that for 32 years, and she's very knowledgeable."

"My sister moved to Bayview Nursing & Rehab Center. I got to meet the social services director, the admissions director, and one of the administrative nurses. They kept her very active. The cost is reasonable. The staff is very professional and they have genuine care. They don't treat the residents like just any number. They do take a genuine interest in each one, which I appreciate. They do have activities, which I like. I was there to see my sister and she was in the activity room. Everybody is participating. She's in physical therapy and has other activities. Some of their furniture is older, but it's functional. They have two patients in one room, semi-private rather than private, but it's clean."

"I have been looking for a place for my mother. I had the privilege of working with Ms. Arnold. She is a very friendly, knowledgable, and warm person. She took the time to show me around the building and even suggested to look around at other buildings before making my decision. She answered all of my questions and put my mind at ease about the decision I was having to make. The staff was friendly and while taking a tour of the building it was obvious that Ms. Arnold was not just trying to move in someone new, but that she and all the staff I met cared about the people living there. I was invited to come by any time and talk with her staff or seniors and was even invited to their upcoming prom. My husband and I decided to ride by on their "prom night" to see if it was all that I was told it would be. It was. It was beautifully decorated and it made me feel reassured to place my mom at this building. The staff was dressed in their prom attire and was dancing and taking pictures with the folks that lived there. I am so glad to have seen this for myself. I highly recommend Carebridge to anyone and please make sure to ask for Ms. Arnold. You will feel like you are part of the family right away. "

"Liberty Commons is great. It’s a smaller facility, and it’s very clean. The staff is really happy. There’s a lot of personalized care. They pay a lot of attention to my mother-in-law, and they seem to do a good job. We have family that lives there, and they go to see her everyday. "

"Premier Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is where my mother wanted to go. The staff seemed friendly, cheerful and helpful. It's clean and well-maintained. When the fire alarm in the bathroom is going off, maintenance came and took care of it, took it down, and put a new one in. The food could be better because I'm not sure if my mom likes the food so much. The hospital and shopping are right across the street. "

"Lighthouse Village is an older place. They don't have bathrooms in the rooms. They have community-type bathrooms and showers. The residents are super friendly. As soon as I went in the front door, they had the staff saying hi to me. They have activities. It is an OK community and the price is extremely reasonable. Lighthouse Village doesn't have as much as far as amenities but it is just so friendly. To me, that would make up for some of the other things. It doesn't have a lot of extra things but it is extremely friendly that it makes you want to be there. It is assisted living and all-inclusive. The dining area is more of a cafeteria style. Some of the rooms are two people to a room, but you can get a room to yourself. A lot of the residents were in the central room watching TV together. Well, because of the price and how friendly it was, it is one of my top three choices."

"Words of expressions can not begin to tell you how grateful and thankful I am with the service and love that you've shown to Mozell and I during his stay at Carolina Rivers. The CNA's, nurses and the therapy team were all on target. I sat there from 8 to 7 daily. I saw the workers diligently while working with loving and sincere care. I will recommend anyone who is seeking a nursing home for there love ones to seek out carolina rivers. Again I am truly thankful and grateful for all that you do."

"We chose The Cottages of Swansboro for my sister because of the location, the price, and what was included in the price because it's a flat fee. They don't charge extra if medications are required. Everything is included in the flat rate. It's very nice and very affordable. It's a home setting, so each person has their own room. There are six people in each cottage and everybody has their own dining room and living room within the cottage. Everyone comes to the table and has a meal as a family. Each cottage has one house mother to six residents. They have three or four shifts throughout the day, but they're always assigned to the same cottage. They have a staff that goes through all the cottages to give out medicines. The food is fabulous and homecooked. Each cottage has their own laundry facility. I love all the people there. It feels like family. The director is fabulous. We are happy with it so far. They have an online beauty shop and an activities director, do art, play games like Jeopardy, and have a little bus that takes them to different places. They have therapy dogs and gospel groups that come in."
