What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?
MC staff receives monthly in-services and training from our MC Director. and we work closely with the Alzheimer's Association.
Describe the overall population of assisted living residents at Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead. What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?
We have a total of 28 private apartments in AL. Our residents love balloon volleyball, cornhole, trivia and word games. Average age approximately 85.
What programs or activities does Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead offer to enrich residents' well-being?
Scrabble, balloon volleyball, cornhole, crossword, brain games, chair excersize, meditation, walking group, snack and social hour, inspirational readings, church services.
What places are near Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead or within walking distance for assisted living residents to enjoy?
We are approximately 3 miles from shopping or the parks so we transport residents for these types of things. We do have beautiful grounds they can walk daily.
What transportation services does Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead offer to assisted living residents?
We have a SUV that we use for doctors, dentist, podiatrist etc. We have a larger bus that we use for group outings and off site activities.
What makes the chef or dining program at Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?
Our menu has numerous options for every meal. We do have a structured meal plan for AL residents, but if there is something on special for the day that a resident does not care for there are over 14 different options to choose from. Our menus are approved by a dietician.
What safety features or security measures does Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead offer to assisted living residents?
Every AL apartment has an emergency call bell next to the bed, toilet and shower. We also offer an in house pendant. You can have the pendant on a watch or a necklace. It is specific to each resident.
How does Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?
The lines of communication are always open here at Heritage between phone calls, emails, zoom, facetime etc. We are in constant contact with families keeping them up to date if anything changes for a resident.
What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead during daytime and nighttime hours?
We have 2 Care Aides on the floor from 7am-11pm with 1 aide on for overnight in our Assisted Living and 2 aides on the overnight in Memory Care
If Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?
In our Independent Living they are allowed cats or a small to medium sized dog . Assisted Living residents are only allowed cats and they must remain in their apartment.
What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?
Monthly in-services for all staff include Bloodborne pathogens, Alzheimer's care, customer service, sexual harassment, emergency preparedness, fire safety and evacuation, resident rights, meeting resident dining needs to name a few.

We have a total of 64 apartments in Independent Living. Ranging from a straight 1brm to 1brm/dining, 1brm/study, 1brm/den up to a 2brm/2bath. Independent residents love their morning exercise group, meditation, and BINGO. The average age is approximately 85.
What places are nearby for independent living residents to enjoy?
Our residents need transportation to go to any venues. They do enjoy the outside of the community where they can walk safely and enjoy the outdoors.
What are some recent off-site events that the community activity director at Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead has organized?
We have done trips to the casino, ice cream trips, museums, concerts in the park.

We have an SUV that we use for doctors, dentists etc. We have a larger bus that we use for off site activities and group outings.

We offer a restaurant style dinner every night. You have a full menu to order off from every day, along with the special that we prepare daily.
What common areas are available for independent living residents?
Living room with fireplace, numerous sitting areas throughout the building, 2 activity rooms, educational center, meditation room, onsite salon, full gym.
What safety features or security measures does Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead offer to independent living residents?
We are a secure building with main entrances locking at 8pm. The residents are provided fobs to enter after the doors are locked. We just want to know who is in our building after hours. We also offer an in house pendant that is specific to each resident. If they press the button we know who they are and where they are. There are also emergency pull stations located next to the shower in every apartment.

We are pet-friendly for dogs and cats. Residents are allowed pets that are small to medium size. We have plenty of areas on the grounds to walk your pet.

No
How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?
We have 2 aides on staff from 7am-11pm and overnights in AL 1 aide and Memory Care 2 aides. We have a Memory Care Coordinator, LPN and a Wellness Director,
What safety features or security measures does Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead provide to protect residents who wander?
We have alarmed doors in our memory care with a secured wander garden outside.
What programs or activities does Heritage at The Plains at Parish Homestead offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
We have a daily activity list posted throughout the community. We have activities for everyone the focus on the wellness of the residents all around. We do activities such as word games, trivia, Bingo, daily exercise, adult coloring. Memory Care focuses on activities geared towards their level of cognitive impairment which may be engaging in storytelling from the past, coloring, balloon volleyball, bingo.

Residents are providing cueing with meals, small meals offered, finger foods, special utensils or plates if needed.

Open communication is a high priority for us here at Heritage. We are constantly in contact with family members to keep them up to date on any changes in our residents.
