"All American Assisted Living at Kingston was very nice and very clean. They actually had an issue with flood damage, but even with that happening, the area was still well-maintained and cleaned up. They really tried to protect the integrity of their building. There were many activities and the residents seemed to be enjoying those activities when we were there. The rooms were good. They had a very nice menu and they are going to be able to accommodate any diet that a resident would have. My only caveat with the room was the fact that if you had two bedrooms with a shared living space, you would have a shared bathroom, which I wasn't thrilled about, and I knew my loved one would not be thrilled about that either."

"I toured The Woods at Merrimack. I love the apartments. I like the grounds. I also like the activities. The only concern I had was that 90% of the people are in their 80s and I'm only 62. It's very clean. They have a theater, arts and crafts, a library, and a game room. When I stepped inside the community, I felt very welcome."

"The rooms in Ashland Farm at North Andover were very nice. Everybody was very friendly. They talked to you and they're all smiling. They didn't hesitate to show us everything (even a room that was under reconstruction). The lady even peeked in there and let us see that room and how it was coming along. We also saw the dining room, the recreation area, and the common areas. It was a very pleasant visit. We got there just as lunch was beginning. I was there with my daughter and her two little kids and the residents were smiling and waving at the kids. It was very nice. The room we saw in the memory care was a smaller version of a hotel room. It has its own bath, bed, dresser, lamp, and a room for a chair. It was very nice, clean, and bright."

"My husband moved into Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation. I chose it because it has a good reputation. Right now, he's in a room by himself. But there is another bed there that's not occupied at the present time. The cleanliness of the place is excellent. They have activities, they show movies, they have people come in and they have sing-alongs. They play bingo. They have socials where everyone can gather. The food is excellent, probably better than he gets at home. There is room for improvement in the staff, and they seem to be shorthanded. The people that I get involved with are very, very helpful. But sometimes when my husband asks for something, there's a long period he has to wait before it's done."

"Atria Marland Place is in the same town that my dad grew up in. Its apartments are nice. The activities are good. It's as good as we can do. "

"I liked the openness of the Giving Tree Senior Living. It's got windows, it's not dreary, and not confined. There's sunshine coming in. I toured the memory care area and they were very friendly and very clear on what they were offering, and in answering my questions. The place is very clean too. They have a fenced-in courtyard where they can go out and sit, and we just fell in love with it. I didn't see the purpose of going to other places when I knew this was going to work for my husband. The room he will be having is not furnished, which is great, because he's going to have his own bed, his chair, TV, and all of that. I love the idea that it's coming from our house, not from anybody else. It's a great place."

"I went to visit The Arbors of Bedford and I like them a lot, except for the price. But I'm sure it's worth it, because it's a beautiful facility, it looks brand-new, and it's very nice. I only met with the administrator and she's excellent. They focus on memory care, so they're very tuned in to the people that they're serving. They had a beautiful courtyard that was enclosed, so the residents could wander around the courtyard but not be off the grounds. They have very nice common areas like a living room and dining area with a kitchen, and it's very nice."

"I have chosen here for respite care for mom. It's not a permanent move-in; she will be there for thirty days. It's a nice, small community, and it's a very clean building. I found that the people who work there are very easy to work with and accommodating. It was a very pleasant place. It's a nice-sized room, and it's certainly not small. It's nice, and it came with the furnishings that were needed: a bed, a chair, and a dresser. The only thing I would find fault with -- and it's not their fault -- is the way the building is arranged. The rooms don't have a private bathroom, but there are certainly many bathrooms available. In the summer, they have outside activities. They also do some bus trips. It seemed like a good level of activities for the type of people they were dealing with. I saw a couple of community rooms. I did not see anything that has to do with exercise, like a pool or anything. This is totally memory care, so I don't believe they had that, but they certainly had several gathering places. They had many books available, almost like a library. They had TVs and movies. They definitely had activities. There's a code that is published at the door. You have to push the code to get in and out, so it's not a locked facility, but if you do not push the code, an alarm goes off, so they are alerted if someone just tries to go out. It's a very pleasant place and in thirty years, I wouldn't mind being there myself."

"Evergreen Place has been excellent. It's very homey. The staff is very attentive to all the needs. It's been a perfect fit for my father. He has one of the larger rooms with a living room, a bedroom and a full bath. He could've had a single bedroom with just a bathroom. They have movies, arts and crafts, trips, men's luncheon, ladies' luncheon, they go to Wal-Mart and to The Dollar Store, they have entertainment, weekly barbecues in the summertime outside under a big tent. They will also take you to your doctors' appointments as long as they're in Manchester. They order and distribute all the medicine, and they do housekeeping and laundry. However, rooms at other places that cost the same amount of money have kitchens in them, and this one doesn't have a kitchen. They should just be a little bit less money because of that."

"I went to Aynsley Place. They showed me a one-bedroom, their cafeteria, and their community room. They had a piano in the lobby and somebody comes and plays and entertains the people. It's a very nice facility. They had a nursing home attached right next door. They do arts and crafts, and they take them on trips. It was clean and very well maintained. The director was very nice, and the residents seemed friendly. The whole place was nice."

"I toured The Pines of Newmarket. No issues there. It was just smaller. It just wasn't a good match for my mom. There was nothing wrong with the facility. The staff was amazing. The resident activity level was a little less engaged, and my mom is a little more social. It was a quieter venue. The rooms were clean. The tour was great. The people were friendly. Everything was good, it just wasn't the right personality match for my mom. Their dining facility is different in that it's kind of a multipurpose room. They use what the dining area is for visitors coming in and they use it for activities. Like everything is kind of dual-purpose because it's small. They only have like 20 residents, so it's a smaller setting. It was nice and clean, but it was just small. It was in a nice area with a lot of apartment complexes. It was a newer area. On the inside, I got a good tour of rooms that were clean and neat, and some examples of how they're furnished. The staff was amazing. The guy that does their admittance and stuff, was phenomenal on follow-up and tour and all of that. It just wasn't a match for my mom, but I didn't have anything unfavorable."

"Bedford Falls was very nice. It was close to where we live, just about a couple of miles away, and the guy that gave us the tour was very good. The apartment I saw just had a bedroom, a large bathroom, and a kitchenette. It looked comfortable and smaller than what my mother has now, but it was fine. The dining area was nice, friendly, and warm too. They have a place where they play bingo or something and I think they take them out shopping or to different places."

"I visited The Inn At Deerfield Inc and I thought it was great. My mom will be staying in their memory care unit on respite care next month. They showed me around and showed me pretty much where the common areas were. Most people were gathered in the dining room. They had two different living room sets with TVs. They had activities for the seniors, too. The person who assisted me was very pleasant and knowledgeable."
