My good friend and neighbor moved into College View about 4 years ago after her husband had passed away. Though she was alright at home she ultimately knew that moving was in her best interest. Her apartment was spacious, she had a microwave and full size refrigerator which was great for the wine! The personal shopper service was a great bonus although she still managed to go shopping every week. Before covid, trips were offered and she always had a ride to her doctors appointments, which helped make the decision to sell her vehicle easier. A few of us would come to the monthly entertainment and card events. She was a great cook and truly missed being able to cook her pies and fried chicken but despite that she was happy with the food. I think her favorite thing about living at College View was the people, she talked about them like they were family. After knowing her for 50+ years, it warmed my heart that she loved so many of the employees. She met several new friends while living there and was reacquainted with classmates. After her passing this past fall I find myself grateful she was able to live at College View those last years and I know her daughter feels the same.

My good friend and neighbor moved to College View after losing her husband. She did well living in her own home but knew she would enjoy having people around. The care staff were so very nice and friendly and always made us fill welcomed. When she first moved in she was very active going on trips to Omaha and Grand Island and weekly she would go to Wal-Mart to buy her own supplies which she expressed gave her a feeling of freedom. Covid put a halt on all of that but she told us in several conversations that she had fun doing other types of activities. The apartment was perfect, and it was decorated with all her treasures, she really liked how spacious the bathroom was and loved the whirlpool bath. Food was always a pleasure and she was an excellent cook, so I was surprised that she did not complain about the food. She did say she missed her homemade pies and ribs but again I think that is to be expected. She became pretty close to a few of the ladies that she otherwise would have never met and ran across classmates she had not seen in years. Before her passing this fall she seemed to be happy. I will forever miss my dear friend and feel that The Heritage in Hastings made her last years some of her best.

The facility was nice enough. It was very clean and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the staff could also be very slow in responding to questions and requests. It was a hard time for my grandmother. Most people didn't want to be there or were too mentally handicapped to notice anything. There was some construction going on but overall the staff was friendly and helpful.
