Can't say enough good things about this place. My Dad is currently staying here. They take such good care and are always looking out for him. He says the food is fantastic! Very friendly staff that keep the residents busy with all kinds of activities they can participate in. Clean, safe facility. Thank you to all the staff. Brandon Zubrod

About The Kensington – Hastings in Hastings, Nebraska
Constructed in 1914, The Clarke Hotel was the premier destination for social and political events in the Hastings area for many years. Fully renovated in 1987, The Clarke was transformed into The Kensington and earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places. The Kensington is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Hastings -- just a stroll away from shopping, banks, and everybody's favorite cookie shop. Original tiled floors, marble pillars and polished brass rails on the open staircase and upper mezzanine surround the comfortable living room with elegance. The adjoining game room walls feature ceramic brick and life-size Italian murals painted in 1916. Ornate plaster work graces the walls and vaulted ceiling of the beautiful dining room. A cozy family room the ideal place for visitors of all ages to gather, and the private dining room accommodates family lunches, club meetings and more. New families meet each other at a special dinner, where they're introduced to Heart to Heart interactive program. Family Traditions events are planned throughout the year, such as the annual summer picnic and Christmas supper. These and other family services provide fellowship and support, as well as special occasions for loved ones to enjoy good times together. My mother was there for many years but current administration is very uncaring and unprofessional. There are some staff there that are very good, it’s the administration that is the problem in my experience. Issues? Where do I start? The lack of nurse presence, meds not given, med errors, falling with no call button because it had been taken from her, another fall with a pennant that did not work, infection that was ongoing for nearly a year, lack of supervision with weight loss all led to her being put on hospice. Then they kicked her out for being beyond their level of care. So cruel. In my opinion, I wouldn’t put your loved one there! I did move her out, she gained weight, got rid of the infection, and got off of hospice.

My mom is currently residing on The Kensington memory care floor. They seem to do a real good job of keeping them busy and doing things. The structure of the place is good. They keep them clean and well-groomed, so I think they do a pretty good job of everything. The food seemed to be good and they seemed to be attentive to their needs. They seem to be very good and very helpful with everything, and make everyone feel comfortable.

My spouse has been on the memory unit for the past 4+ years. Her initial room tended to be too hot or too cold . However, her present room has been stable in temperature control. Staff have been caring, polite & compassionate. Dietary content has significantly improved over the 4 years. The present activities director is a jewel. One outstanding need is for a new, larger elevator.

My sister was at The Kensington for two weeks. It used to be one of Hasting's finest hotels at one time, and it was refurbished into an assisted living facility. It's absolutely gorgeous. The staff is wonderful. They couldn't do enough to help her get used to the facility, even introducing her to other ladies and groups. They were wonderful and did a lot to help. They have rooms for Medicaid as well as private pay. She had a very big, nice room, with a separate bathroom, and big windows. They had a very nice dining room. They had Bingo, crafts, "caring hands," and they had a bus that would take them around places. They had lots of activities.

The Kensington was a nice assisted-living center where my grandfather currently lives. We chose this place for his new home as it is close to our family and as a chile he stayed there back when it was a hotel. Overall our experience the past few years has been quite positive, the staff and the facilities are very welcoming and it is a place I would recommend for anyone to visit. The small town of Hastings is very accommodating and the daily shuttle service to attractions around town certainly helps.

The staff was caring and helpful and acted like the wanted to be there. The residents were spirited and enjoyed the many actives that they had planned each day there was something different going on. If you wanted to do a lot you could if not then you were able to do that too its there choice. The building was very nice, it once was The Clarke Hotel so it has some history to it and it shows. The family room and lobby are the two places i liked the most the mural on the wall is a work of art and the marble in the lobby is amazing. I really enjoyed my stay there is guest rooms so you can visit without invading the residents space. I would really recommend this assisted living to any one because of the care that is provided there. I have visited other assisted living locations and they done feel like a home like The Kensington does they feel like a business.
