The White Pine Advanced Memory Care of Blaine has two buildings, and they house men and women on different levels. My former wife is a resident there now, and there's no way that you would find a better place. I walk in, and they know me. I ask them a question, and I get an answer. They keep us informed as to what's going on. Her room has a bathroom, a small closet, and the capability of having cable TV, although she's so far gone that it wouldn't make any difference. There's probably even room for a double bed. It's not a big room, so I think this is not the place you'd want to start someone out because they'd resist. Other than that, it's kept well, and the aides are super fantastic. If I had any complaint at all, it would be that I have to ask for the key to the bathroom when I need to use it. She's eating pureed food. They blend it up, and it's always good. They really feed her properly. This is one of the reasons we ended up moving her here. They take care of her the best out of any of the three places she's been. The place is probably the least appealing to someone who's just had the beginning of Alzheimer's, but it has nice, great scenery. There is a patio, and there's a little creek that runs past the place. It's a beautiful location. The parking can be a little cramped, though. I have had to park out on the street a couple of times in the summer. They do have handicapped parking, but I don't have a handicapped sticker. If you have a handicap sticker, you're probably good, but without one, the spots fill up pretty regularly. They do a very good job with activities. Most of the time when I've been there, the activity has been something to do with music. The lady there was also doing some other stuff. Overall, she is getting such good care there.

White Pine Advanced Memory Care of Blaine is a much bigger facility. There was nothing wrong with it. The staff seemed engaged with the patients that I saw, and they were pleasant. The person who showed us around was very informative and very knowledgeable, and then we met the management people, and they were very informative. The common rooms were pleasant. The people were eating lunch when we were there. They had different levels of care on different floors and different dining areas for people with more severe dementia and those who were more able to socialize. They have hospice service too, which is kind of nice, so that you don't have to transfer. They were clean. They had little efficiencies or little apartments, sort of. It depended on which level of care you were looking at. It seems like a pleasant, homey atmosphere.
