"My mom has been a resident of StoryPoint Portage for 10 months now. It's a very pleasant environment. The staff is outstanding. They're just very friendly, caring caregivers. They go above and beyond. She has just an efficiency. The food is very good. My mom doesn't participate in any activities, but we use the beauty salon services. They have an excellent beautician. There is a very nice courtyard. It's enhanced living. The executive director there knows that we're real pleased with the facility. It's very positive and very pleasant. I just think in general, assisted living and caregiving is just way too expensive."

"I have been to Brookdale Portage twice to look at the place and I'm actually going back there with my son. It was a very nice place. I liked that they had larger bedrooms. The facility looked lovely. It was very nice, clean, and very neat. The staff has been there for many years. I was able to talk to some of them, who have been there for 17 and 19 years, and that tells a lot. The food was delicious. The chef sat at the table with us, gave us a beautiful salad with vegetables and fruits, and everything was cut and displayed beautifully."

I love the dining area where the residents get to sit together. There is an excellent variety of activities and food. We will be bringing dad in starting March 1."

"We had a very nice tour at Brookdale Battle Creek Memory Care. I liked the size of the rooms and that seemed to be really nice. The bathroom that goes with it is big enough that you can get a wheelchair in very easily, so that looks like it's a plus. I see that they have a salon to do the people's hair there, and that sounds kind of a plus for me too. I see that they've got a nice little spot in the backyard that's fenced in so that nothing can get in, and my mother won't end up wandering somewhere, and it seems to be very clean from what I've seen. The man that showed us through on tour was very helpful. I also talked to a lady to find out where we were supposed to meet and stuff, and she seemed like she was really nice, too. We didn't have a meal, but they told us that there are three meals scheduled each day, and they have a nutritionist for their whole great big corporation type thing, so they have very nutritious meals is what I understand. I like the fact that they had a TV room where the residents could gather together. There is also a sitting room up near the front. There is a piano up there, and they said sometimes people come in and play the piano for the residents so that they can be together. Or you could go back to your room and kind of have privacy if you wanted. Everything seemed to be very clean and nice, so I would say that they have a really good crew."

"The staff at NorthPointe Woods was wonderful. We met with two different people and they were very welcoming. They showed us the whole facility and their units were larger than any of the other facilities we toured. They also invited us to have dinner and we met several of the residents. They have a lot of green space. There's a gym, a game room, a post office, a health center, a salon, and all kinds of activities that you can sign up for to go out in the community. 20 dinners are included in the base rate. They have a cafe on site that's open from 9 until 3 so that you can go down and purchase food. Then they have a coffee and tea bar and hot chocolate and cappuccino that's open 24/7."

"Very welcoming from the moment you walk into the community. Everyone is very friendly. I have my uncle here and he loves it. He says staff are friendly and very accommodating to his needs. The food is really good. I have tried it myself. Rooms/apartments are really nice and it makes my u clue feel like he is in an independent community rather than AL. I would highly recommend."

"I'm in assisted living in Woodlawn Meadows. What I like about it is they provide activities for you throughout the day and that keeps us busy and keeps us from being lonely. I enjoy the exercise and I also enjoy puzzles with other people who live here. The staff has been very kind and loving towards us. I have not had any complaint with any of the staff members, and I enjoy the fact that I can go out with a family member and enjoy the day and come back. I continue to talk with the residents and they all seem to be very kind and loving also. I got a two-room apartment and a large closet and bathroom. I like the largeness of the apartment because I'm a quilter, and I'm still able to do that. I have my sewing machine here and I continue to sew. I have some quilts on the wall and I have residents that come by once in a while and compliment me on my quilts, which is a very satisfying thing. I'm a very plain eater and sometimes spices or herbs are added in the food, and that would be my only complaint."

"Medilodge of Westwood is very kind and did a lot of work with my mom's PT and OT. They have worked with her even on the weekends for therapy. They were very kind when she would have a setback and get sent back to the hospital, they would take her back again. That happened three times. They have card games, art projects, hymns, and broadcasts. My mom thought the food was good, too. It's just not as updated and quite as clean as the other facility they have in another area."
