I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Avoid this facility. My mom’s final year there was miserable. I was trying to relocate her but could not find an available bed anywhere else. Especially since she got scabies there, that made it even harder to find another facility to take her. The list of injustices done to her is long, includes the scabies outbreak they took too long to diagnose and disclose, mean assistants who were nice when we were there but nasty when we weren’t, one assistant dropping and breaking her teeth and never replacing them (she was on the “dentist list” forever and never saw a dentist). No encouragement to socialize, wheeled to a table every day to eat lunch with patients who didn’t speak English even though we requested a change. When she eventually needed a hoist to get her out of bed they just assumed leave her in bed for every “meal”. There was, over several years, a couple of very nice caring nurses. One even set up a FaceTime during Covid on her own personal phone so I could see my mom. But the mean assistants outnumbered nice nurses BY FAR.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was a patient at Wedgemere on June 13,2022. She was sent there from Morton Hospital to be weaned off oxygen, so she could return to her assisted living at The Arbors in Taunton. I visited multiple times that week. Always difficult to find a nurse or anyone at all. By Friday when I went in I found my mother very agitated and struggling to breathe. She also had taken her nasal oxygen out of her nose. I finally found a nurse to check on her who said she didn’t know anything about my mom because it was the first time she’d had her for a patient and hadn’t read or been told anything about my mother’s condition. She took one look at her and she thought it best to call the ambulance. My mom passed away at Morton 3 days later. She had been suffering to breathe like that for how many hours? There was no way she could call for help. She had been put near the nurses station so they’d be close to monitor her, yet never in the times I was there was there ever a nurse or anyone to be found without searching the halls and rooms, And then I’d be lucky to find one with all those patients. Another thing that haunts me is every time I was there, there was a woman yelling, crying, begging out for help. I was told there was nothing they could do for her, so they would simply close her door and let her continue. Wedgemere in my opinion should be shut down for the safety and well being of patient care. I was told my mother would receive pt and speech therapy, but that never happened. I never saw any therapy for the patients. They were either in bed or some would be by the small entrance in wheelchairs cramped together asking how to get out. I still have deep guilt for ever letting my mom go to that place. Even the Brewster Ambulance Paramedics were horrified that the nurse in charge knew nothing about my mothers care. It’s deplorable and inexcusable. I wouldn’t even give one star, but I needed to, to voice my concerns to other’s, so maybe they don’t go thru the horror of Wedgemere. And again that poor woman yelling nonstop for help that they simply ignore. Others go ignored in silence. Bonnie Petruchik

I have called this Nursing home several times over the past year to check on a patient. there is never anyone to answer the phone, no voicemail, no answering machine turned on. I have called several times, @ different times and days. NO WEDGEMERE EMPLOYEE ever picks up the phone. TO this day I have never spoken to any staff member at Wedgemere. Letters and emails go unanswered. What does it take to get a response form this place?

I visited this facility

I have a family member here. This place is very depressing. No security. Anyone can walk in. Other homes you have to sign in and out. There is no energy here at all. I walk in and residences are mostly wheelchair bound hanging around the front hallway, cramped. My family member has a very dirty wheelchsir, dirty clothes and his hearing aid was missing. Never can get answers on what is going on. Terrible. Other nursing homes in the area so much better. The POA in the family just doesn't care. I'd move this family out as soon as possible if I could.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My sister-in-law is at Golden Livingcenter for a rehab. It is in a good location. Environment seems okay. She has a comfortable room. However, I don't like this center at all. My problem with them is that I can't get information on how sister-in-law is doing. They have no updates on her.
