I visited this facility

We visited Judy's Place Assisted Living. After we did the contract and the paperwork we were able to do a virtual tour initially, and then my sister went in yesterday evening to tour the actual room where my grandmother will be. They had the chair lift and all that stuff to get up and down the steps. The people that were in there smelled really good. When you walk in through the door it's nice and bright. My grandmother was like, "Oh, I like it here!" There were people that lived in the neighborhood and the residents in the community when she went in, and there was the lady that lived next door. She's not in assisted living, but she went out her room, and she said him, and they were all older women, and they were really happy. A bunch of men were outside though. It was really cool. It was a COVID requirement that we had to have a shield, they had to have their gloves on, and two masks, the N95 mask and the regular mask. When my sister got there they gave her a care pack on the porch before they went into the facility. They could not touch anything, and they could only go into the main area, and only one person could do the room. It was my sister and my grandmother who walked together. It was my grandmother who went to see the room, but when they got to the door they gave them a care pack, so they had to put their N95 mask on and their own mask on top of that. Then they gave them their shield to put on their face, and they had to wear gloves, and then they went into the main corridor. There is a walkway area to do all that stuff, and then they go into the main area. In the main level, normally the kitchen area is where they would come down to eat, but because of COVID everybody has been wanting to stay in their area. They can come down, but they don't come down a lot. In their rooms they have a bed, computer station, and a sitting area. Their food is delivered to their rooms because of COVID, but if they want to come down in the common area they are welcome to come down, but they would have to make sure their COVID test was negative and they to let them know they are coming out of their room for a while. They can go wherever they want to go and then come back upstairs. During the time that we were there we were able to visit the kitchen area and everything on the first floor area, like common areas. But when you go upstairs, only one person is allowed to see the room, and that was my grandmother, so she went up with the lady to visit the room and then I told them to take a picture, so I gave them my phone and they did a picture. But we already saw the room that she will be assigned to on the virtual tour. The room was like they showed. It was really nice. I was concerned about them letting people in during Covid time. The lady said they have to have a negative Covid test before they can be admitted. When they get the negative test, they can come in the next day or on that same day. We met three people. One was the transportation person. She transports them back and forth to the doctors' appointments and things like that. When my grandmother got in the car, they sanitized the car, they sprayed down the seats, the seatbelts, the steering wheel and the doorknobs inside and out. They opened the door with her gloves on and they close the door for her. They got her inside the building. The second person was the person who works in the kitchen. She had her mask and shield on, she got gloves on, and she had music going, she had music on, like jazz music, like Damien Escobar type music. My grandmother loves music and dancing and that she was like "I can be in kitchen with her." And then there was the lady which I guess was the director. They were real good and awesome. They were very polite, helpful, and really cool. The layout was bright, warm, and comfy. It felt like home. It felt like the warm feeling that you get when you walk into your grandmother's house where you could smell the apple pie cooking on Thanksgiving. It was like that. It was warm. Some of the chairs in the room should be recliners. In my grandmother's room she would want to have a recliner so we're going to get her a recliner. The chairs don't recline back but they recline forward. If they need assistance standing up, they could just touch the button and the chair would lift forward, like standing them up a little bit. But it does not lean back, so if she don't want to get in her bed, cause sometimes she can't lay down flat, because it's hard for her to breath when she need to bill up.
