"Willow Creek Gracious Retirement Living feels like home. I think my friend likes it because of the affordability, which is the most important thing. The staff members are very helpful. The residents are friendly. The place is clean. The room size is just enough. It's a little bit big for my friend, but she just has a studio. The bathrooms are nice and big, maybe enough room for a wheelchair or a walker. My friend says she's overwhelmed by the food because you can even order something that's not on the menu. She only eats a little bit; she couldn't even finish it, and there is always more. They have a lot of activities. Every time I went there, they had a game or whatever. They have movie time, music, and entertainment. I don't know if she can participate in all of those, but they always have activities. I think it's worth the money. I don't know how others compare, but the only thing is she has to get her own Wi-Fi in her room because she is using a ClearCaption telephone, and there's no Wi-Fi included, so she needs to get that privately."

"The residents of The Chamberlin were fantastic. One of them showed me around after the tour. She was very nice and talked about herself and stuff. It was just nice that she wanted me to do that. She didn't know I was coming or anything like that. She was going somewhere else. She said, "Are you thinking about coming here?" She asked questions about my grandma. I liked that they have an indoor pool. They have this beautiful terrace that overlooks the water. They have a lot of activities. I saw them playing charades when I came. They were very accommodating. When I walked in, I buzzed in, and they asked me who I was. When I said my name and the point of contact that I had in my phone, someone came down, got me, brought me up, and showed me around."

"I really love Harmony at Harbour View. The amenities, the accommodations, and the staff were first class. The only thing I didn't like was the pricing. They had a dining facility, a bar, a weight room, a library, and a barber shop. The apartment was like a home. It had everything you needed, including a complete kitchen, a walk-in closet, a large bedroom, and a large living room."

"I would give them a 5 because of the amenities, as far as the different recreational programs and the services like housekeeping. The staff was very knowledgeable and very pleasant to speak to. The staff showed me a one-bedroom. My sister has a walker, and she has difficulty standing up on her own. The bedroom was geared towards the handicapped person. It was very accessible. They give classes and exercise in the morning. They have a full recreational calendar. They have a library. They go on bus trips and transportation if you want to go shopping. The area was nice, clean and neat in the morning. It looks like a very new community."

"My brother-in-law lived in the independent living part of First Colonial Inn for a couple of months before he went downhill. He has dementia, and he transferred to the assisted living part. They had a new assisted living apartment. It was delightful, and I would have loved to live there myself. They take good care of the people, and they’ve got good facilities. They’ve got a bus, they take people on excursions, shopping trips, and they take them to museums and doctor’s appointments. The staff is very nice and cordial. They’ve got a nurse on staff who evaluates the people and sees what they need, but they weren’t really equipped to handle my brother-in-law. "

"I decided to go to Silver Hill at Great Neck. The rent seems reasonable. They said they're renovating every apartment and mine is one of them that they're in the process of renovating, and it looks and nice. The manager was awesome. She was very professional but extremely nice. I couldn't say anything negative. There's a refrigerator, a microwave, and a stove oven. There's a nice-sized closet. I'm hoping that will be enough to get everything in there. It seemed like a good choice. Also, there are two sets of washers and dryers on each floor, which I thought was pretty cool. The manager was great. She was very kind. I felt very comfortable even though I was nervous. But it was a good experience. It seemed very clean."

"I toured Atlantic Shores. It's a welcoming experience. I thought the facilities were very well kept. The people that I met seemed very happy and engaged. They were very friendly. It's a very warm place. In the apartment, there's no furniture included. You supply your own furniture, but it's very up-to-date and clean. It looked brand new. The bedroom was carpeted. The dining area was a restaurant type. They have three restaurants, and you choose from a menu. The food was excellent. They prepare your meals for you. You don't just eat what you serve. You select from a menu."

"This is a fabulous faith-based community with a wonderful foundation that helps people come in (if they qualify and can't afford it) and keep the residents here with 5-star healthcare, even if they run out of money at no fault of their own. Everyone is busy and happy. We moved here from out of state and it took us a long time to find it but it was the best decision ever -- and what a gift to our kids who will never have to take us in or put us someplace where we don't want to be. We are ecstatic about living here!!!
