Independent Living Communities in Mount Pleasant, PA

"The aides are very nice and seem to really care about the patients. So far we're pretty happy with Paramount Assisted Living, but the beds are very uncomfortable according to my father. The place is clean and nice. People there say they like it, and it's a good place with good care. It's one of the better places I've seen. They have people come in and perform on the violin and piano and get a pretty good crowd. It's expensive."

"The apartments in Hempfield Towers were very nice. It was perfect for me because I am handicap and they allowed pets and I had a bird and a dog and it had a balcony. It has a homey environment. The maintenance people were very good, if you asked them to do something and they'll do it right away. "

"I’m pleased with Loyalhanna Senior Suites and Personal Care so far. It was a new facility that was kept very clean and well decorated. My mom has a studio apartment with a bathroom. She is happy with the food. When I went and spoke with the administrator and the director of nursing, I could see that the things that I asked to be done were being followed up on. They assuaged my concerns. "

"Connect55+ Penn Township is strictly an apartment. There are things that they do with residents, like arts and crafts, there is a library and things like that, but as far as the apartment, that's it. Their offer was not exactly what I was looking for. You do all the cleaning and cooking and whatever you want, but it was a very nice place. The gentleman that showed us around and the one that helps with the arts and crafts or entertainment were both very nice."

"Of the three places we visited, it is just Redstone Highlands at North Huntingdon that we were impressed with right now. It was a very informative tour. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the place. The staff could not show us a two-bedroom unit, which is what we would prefer, but we got to tour a one-bedroom unit. She took us on a complete tour, explained everything, and invited us to stay for lunch, which was very good. It was like eating in a restaurant. The only thing that was self-service was the salad bar, so we were quite impressed with that. The whole layout of the grounds sits on a former dairy farm, so it's very tranquil and peaceful. They have a lot of outside benches and firepits and things where you could just go outside and sit. It seems like there are a lot of activities going on, and we were very impressed with that, too. However, it's on the upper part of the expense. But you get what you pay for. And the staff members were very courteous and informative. My husband has Parkinson's, and so another thing that we were impressed with at the Redstone was that they have classes and exercises going on all the time for those patients. In our situation, that's a big requirement that we would have that added care for him."

"I like that once I will be in Redstone Highlands North Huntingdon, I don't have to move again, because you can step up to additional care if needed. They had very little turnover in staff and it has been very well maintained and very clean with nice amenities and location. You get some housekeeping every other week. There is laundry service in your apartment, or if you choose not to do that, there's a facility on each floor. There is a garage if you choose that extra. The apartment is nice, because it's a little less than two bedrooms, but it's more than one bedroom. It's a bedroom den with a bathroom and balcony. So, it's exactly what I was looking for."

"I chose Cloverleaf Communities because it was convenient for me to move in relatively quickly. The location was really good. The people here are very friendly. They offer amenities that I needed and it fits well within my budget. They do have a lot of activities like weekly bingo and they have monthly dinners out at restaurants. They do offer a meal at the community center for a small fee. They also have different clubs such as a book club, card club, sewing club, and other things. This is definitely just for independent living and they don’t offer any kind of assistance. "

"I visited Redstone Highlands at Murrysville. I liked everything about what I saw there, I thought the apartments were nice, and the amenities were very nice. And I liked it overall. I looked at the two bedrooms. The layout was very nice, and the size was very good. I liked it. The few staffers that I met were very nice and everyone was very friendly. The girl that took me around was very nice, and to all of the staff in the dining room. I saw the beauty shop and the gift shop and all that stuff. Everybody I came in contact with was wonderful. The food looked good. I saw some people eating, and what they had on their plates looked nice. The gift shop was nice because they have nice little things to buy, so you didn't have to run out. If you need toothpaste or something like that, they have a nicely stocked gift shop. The outdoor space was probably the least accommodating. They do have balconies on each of the higher levels, and the lower level, which I looked at, had a little porch off the living room, the sliding doors. But as far as the other stuff outside, they didn't have a whole lot."

"When I walked into Vida Springs Senior Living and Personal Care Home, I could smell that they were using some seasonings in their meals. My father is a healthy eater, so he would appreciate the fact that they make home-cooked meals right there. The person who gave me the tour was the cook. She was friendly. She tried to answer most of my questions, but on some things, she couldn't. She referred me to the administrator and gave me her contact information card. She introduced me to a health care worker that was there visiting one of the residents. The facility was clean, but it was definitely in need of updating. It's an older facility, and the furnishings are very sparse. I don't think they had the best beds and that sort of thing, but she said you could bring whatever other furnishings you wanted for the room."

"I like The Gardens of Lincoln Court, and I chose it for dad. It is also close to home although he is not real happy with the food. They have variety of activities; there’s bingo, movie nights, manicures and pedicures, and they’ve got a beauty shop. He is very happy there. "

"I visited Beatty Pointe Village. They had a lot of activities going on there. It was very nice. They had an independent type of living. The little apartments are very nice. I had lunch there. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and informative. I was very impressed with the whole facility with the living setup, the activities, and the personnel were all very helpful. The food was very tasty. It was very good food. It was impressive the way they presented it."

"I currently own my home here at the Village of Clover Ridge. It is 55 + community. The amenities they have are a clubhouse and it has a pool table in there. They have a dining hall in there where we do the different events that they hold there, a Bocce ball, a covered picnic area with two gas ranges out there and an exercise room with equipment in there. They do recycling. They have different exercise classes like yoga. They have a book club and a coffee club. They were having different lecture series that would come through that's happened in different times. The community is pretty active, lots of people are out walking around all the time. It's very safe, very quiet with lovely neighbors. It certainly is not a shi-shi community but it's very well-kept. I have no problems with anything really, they were extremely minor. It's a very nice community. Everybody takes care of their own yard. We've got some beautiful views up here depending on where you're located. They used to take people on trips once a month. They go on outing and got a bus service up here that takes people to go shopping."

"Arrowood was very nice and clean. The people seemed happy and showed me a couple of apartments. There were lots of activities depending on what you want to do. "

"You have to be 62 years old to live in The Avenue Apartments. The people are very warm, very caring, very personable and we look out for each other. The community space and the patio is very clean. There's a lot of community programs in the lobby. We have exercise on Mondays, and we have people come in to give presentations. "
