"I lived 400 miles from the facility but my brother and sister live local and had full responsibility for the care of our Dad. This was the 3rd place our Dad was at and, after several years, it proved to be the best hands down! The only hard part for me was trying to get through to my Dad on the phone. In the end when he could no longer hold the phone, and I did get through, a care giver was kind enough to hold it to his ear while we talked. The staff were constantly busy keeping to the schedule and I never saw a frown on any face."

"This is a wonderful campus with independent living in one or two bedroom apartments. This community is faith based and my parents have really enjoyed settling in to this place and it felt like home to them immediately. They travelled to Florida recently but could not wait to get back "home". They enjoy the food and the fellowship with other residents and are proud of their apartment and allow it to be showed to prospective clients at any time. My siblings and I have piece of mind that our parents are safe and are well cared for. There are other services on this campus including assisted living and skilled care if their needs change. I would highly recommend Victorian Village!. "

"Marian Village seems like a very good value; a lot is included. This one is run by the Franciscan Community. It's got everything we wanted for mom, especially the washer and dryer in the unit. She doesn't have to walk down the hall, and find out that the washers and dryers are busy and go back to her room. It was a good selling point there. Everything was nice and clean. All the meals were included. She's happy about having a bank onsite, a beauty shop, and a beauty salon there. The elevators and everything are more conveniently placed, and it is easier to move around than some other places. Everything was pretty straightforward. I toured the place first, and then my sister and I took my mom another time to check everything over again. They had a unit that would just be perfect for her. It was a 1-bedroom with a small bedroom/den so you could use it as a small bedroom or as a den. It was perfect. The unit she'll be moving into is close to the elevators, which is great for her. We found that some of the other places charge more the closer you were to the elevators. It was nice that they didn't charge more just because you were closer to the elevators. They have nice safety features and everything. It was important for her to be at a community where there was a church or a chapel. She's going into an independent living apartment, but there is always an ala carte menu. Just in case she likes a little help, maybe with dressing every day or showers every day. You can order that separately. Once we find that she need more services than we realized, she gets the first choice of moving into the wing where it's assisted living rather than someone who's just coming from the outside. She would already be a resident there, so she would get first choice. So overall, it would work perfectly for us. She gets all the safety measures, and she would be wearing a bracelet. If something happened, she could push the button. They would come running to help her. There's also some kind of monitor in the middle of the apartment, so if there was no movement after a while they would check on her. We saw the residents there, and everyone was friendly. I talked to many residents there on my visits asking them how they liked it, and they all loved it in every way. So that's really nice. We feel really comfortable about that. Their facility sits back farther from Route 7. They own a lot of land, so they could still expand even more. They have the option of building more as they need. My husband and I decided that if the day comes, we would love to live there. They have a cottage. They have garden homes for couples or people who still want to manage their own home with their car and garage. You could live in an apartment where you don't ever have to walk outside. They told us that if we would like to sit in the dining room and eat at some point with our mom, we could call and set a time so that they could have us come in there."

"The rooms at Victory Centre of South Chicago were very nice, clean, and had a nice view. The heat was ample. They had a ping-pong table, a pool table, games, television, and stretching exercises. The food was ample and scheduled, but you can always have soup or something else, and that was readily available for eight to 10 hours. The staff was excellent in explaining everything."

"Franciscan Village was fine, but they didn’t really seem like they were all on top of trying to get a hole of somebody to get the information, so that was a little difficult. But I think they help us as much as they could. It’s very clean, very bright, and lots of activities going on. That was difficulty a good choice. My aunt said she didn’t like the food, but there were a couple of choices every day. The staff was very patient and caring. "

"Bickford of Bourbonnais was very nice. There’s a garden area where the residents could take a little section to plant things like tomatoes and flowers. The rooms were clean, and the staff was nice. "

"Autumn Green Midway Village was a beautiful community, the residents looked well cared for, the rooms were beautiful, and the person giving the tour was awesome. "

"I walked through Cantata Adult Life Services' nursing home facility. I found the people there to be very nice to deal with. The place seemed to be very good. It seemed to me to be well kept and very attractive. "

"My sister and myself decided to move our mother in to a assisted living home, after she had suffered a fall which was quite scary since she lived alone after our fathers passing two years ago. Both of us living in the Chicago area we wanted a facility in between both us, so we could visit on the weekends. We looked around a few places and then we found Timbers of Shorewood. My sister and I visited the first time together to check it out. The staff was very informative, helpful, and caring for the residents. The logging was nice and seemd right for a elderly person. A week later we then visited with our mother who was against the whole idea to begin with began to feel comfortable at Shorewoods. She met some of the nurses and staff and really seemed to be comfortable, which was my sister and mines main concern. We moved her in 3 weeks later, and this was about two years ago. Overall Timbers of Shorewood is a great place for our mother I feel very grateful to the staff at Shorewoods. "

"I'm staying at American House. It's assisted living and independent living. They have Bingo, cards, crafts, outings, and book club. The staff is very nice and so is my apartment. They did a lot of remodeling. The thing that I like a lot about it is that they have a washer and dryer in every unit, and they have underground parking that is lighted and heated. It's also pretty reasonable in cost."

"I visited and it's very nice, very clean, and very modern. The staff was very attentive to the people there. The whole tour including the exercise room, game room, and the dance rooms were nice. The rooms were apartment like."

"I am moving into Maple Brook. I like the community because it is a senior citizen area. It's nice and clean there. They're very, very good. They're pleasant and easy to deal with. Their dining area is nice. They have a full kitchen, a seating area, and a pool table to play games. I like the appearance and the quietness of the place."

"Village Woods is set on a beautiful property overlooking Balmoral Woods Golf Course. Eating meals in the main dining room is an extra treat as you feel like you are staying at a resort. Mom is on an assisted living floor and she enjoys her private room. The aides and nurse come in quickly when mom rings for one, and being a fall risk, that is very comforting to know that she has that support. She loves the special entertainment and treats that happen often. She also loves the Catholic Mass once a month (pre COVID19) and looks forward to getting back to that as well as the “beauty shop” once allowed again. She also loves “working out on the gym” with Bailey. We have noticed improvement in her stability when standing, and that can primarily be attributed to her fitness program. With COVID restrictions, it is a bit isolating for Mom and her fellow residents but we understand that it remains COVID FREE and we attribute that to the professionalism of the leadership and staff. I would recommend anyone interested in an independent living or assisted living facility to consider Village Woods."

"We had been to Waterford Estates. We just went on a general tour. It was quite neat, clean, and classy, without the classy price to it. One group of residents was actually baking a cake, and then they were going to make something from this cake. It seemed like they have activities there for anybody and everybody. If you didn't like this activity, maybe you'll like the next one. The rooms were very nice. They were separated, but yet close enough that you could get to them even with the wheelchair. The walls were not the usual beige, and that just struck me. I really liked it there."
