"I went to Cypress at Junipers Senior Apartments. I thought it was awesome. It's new, it's clean, and the surrounding areas are nice. The people that were there that we talked to were nice. It was great. They're brand new. The apartment is pristine and clean. It was a good size. It was very nice. A friend of mine is moving there from Hawaii, so I'm considering getting a place there."

"Belmont Village is very nice. The people that work there are extremely caring and helpful. They have a lot of activities. They have a bus or a van that takes them out on trips. The surroundings are very nice. They have a nice warm pool. They have different size rooms. The room that my sister is actually living in is a one-bedroom den. She had a TV room or a living room, another room for her bedroom, and a bathroom. We decided on Belmont because she enjoys her visit there, and they are so nice to her. She says, "Well, this is my home." "

"We toured Belmont Village La Jolla. They were nice. It's too expensive and too much of a commute for my brother. They had activities. The food was great. They had a courtyard. They had views. They had all kinds of interactions with the residents. They had outings for the residents. They were just wonderful. The rooms were big and spacious, and the studios were wonderful."

"The amenities were fantastic. All of the staff were extremely freindly. I was impressed at caring and thoughtfulness of the staff. The food services that are offered were very top notched. The location is just perfect. I had a hard time finding a good place in San Diego that I would feel comfortable with and trust that my family member would be safe and comfortable. I am scared about losing my loved one but at least I have found a place that will offer a secure environment. "

"My mother liked the Patrician, it’s small, and it’s beautiful, but it’s pretty expensive. They have full apartments for people, you can hire people in, and they have lots of activities. "

"I really liked them. The caretakers have done a really good job. My mother wears a pendant that has a push button. When she clicks it all the nurses and the staff members get an alert and they're there within two to three minutes. It gives me peace of mind that she's being well taken care of when I can't be there. She's in a studio, and it's like a dorm where everyone's within the same building. They're not separate structures, there's no outside entrance, and they have one- and two-bedroom options. They do scenic drives to the beach, she plays bingo, they have cards, speakers come in, there's exercise classes, a movie theater, beauty salon, library, computers, and a garden."

"Laguna Estates Senior Living was too expensive. It was completely out of our budget. The person that gave us the tour was very nice. We got along great with him, but the facility is really close to the freeway, so there's a lot of freeway noise. The building was all great. We got to see one room and it was really old, dark, dingy, and near the freeway. We actually went to a place that was cheaper, but it was still way out of my mom's price range."

"I visited. They gave me a lot of information. They were very nice. I didn't try any of the food, but I did see it and it looked good. The rooms were decent. There was no smell. They were clean. I saw a salon, swimming lessons, an art studio, a place where they held bingo and stuff, and a game room."

"Redwood Terrace is an older facility, but it's not a problem. They have expert care there. The people there who take you around are very friendly, and experienced in running a facility like that. They have a vast staff that really looks out for the people's medical requirements, and they seem to be very good. The lunch that we had there was very good, and presentable. They have a pretty extensive library, a gift shop, and an exercise room. "

"My mother has moved into Las Villas Del Norte. We toured the facility with my brother and sister-in-law, and we were very happy with the attention that we received from the gentleman. We thought it was the best fit for my mother because of the secure facility, the activities, the on-site doctor, and its location being close to family members. It's not top of the line, but for the price point, we're very happy with the care and the attention they give my mother. Her room is very big and accommodating enough for her needs. The community center is big and spacious, and all the residents seem to be very happy. The food smells good. I have been there on various occasions and even asked my mother, and she says she is very happy with the food. She likes it. It sounds like the activities are aligned with the residents. When I was there visiting, they had a gentleman playing the piano for them. It was very soothing, and they were all happy and clapping. So those things make me feel good that my mom is in the right spot."

"We chose Oakmont of Escondido Hills for mom and proximity was the biggest thing. They were about five minutes from my house. The second thing was the level of care. She only needs a very small amount of care because she's young and she's showing signs of dementia. They offer senior living (where it's just unassisted care) with access to the cafeteria and other facilities up to memory care and kind of everything in between. As she gets worse, they'll increase the level of care until she gets to the point where she qualifies for memory care and they'll move her to that section of the building. There are quite a few residents there, so she'll have an opportunity to engage with and interact with a bunch of different people instead of just a small amount at a smaller facility. Because she's so young and because she's still capable, we wanted a place where there's a lot of residents, somewhere close by, somewhere that had a progressive level of care that would increase as she needs it, and then also with the ability for her to be removed and visit us as needed or desired. Those are kind of our basic things and this place met all those things, plus proximity, which makes it very easy for all of us to go visit her. They have really good reviews and they have a nice facility. Nobody's perfect, but they did a good job. There's plenty of people there, and they were all very welcoming and supportive. There's a lot of amenities there. They had barber service, they had a dentist and doctors that show up, and they have a theater. They've got a bunch of staff there that are supporting all that, so it seemed like it was sufficient. The ratio of people was good. They do one large thing every month, like a big luau or party or some kind of event for the whole compound at the senior living as well as the assisted living. They've got multiple activities daily. They've got field trips, people coming in for history lessons and different presentations, they've got bingo and game card nights, a movie theater, a gym, and a pool. It's a lot of money, but it seems to be similar to what other parts of the country are. I feel like they offer quite a bit as compared to some of the other facilities that are a little bit smaller that are charging similar amounts."

"We chose Chateau La Jolla, and everything we've encountered so far has been great. The staff was polite and courteous, and seems to meet my father's needs. He will be in independent living and we like that he doesn't have to move to another unit or another building, and he could have a nurse or even hospice come in if he needs it. And that's one of the selling point that made us decide on it. They have a world-class chef that caters to the clients' needs as far as any food, dietary restrictions, and things like that. Also, if you have a favorite food, they're very flexible, and open in trying to meet what you or your family members want. It's a smaller and more intimate community. They have a happy hour on Thursday nights and a champagne brunch on Sundays. They have this little red button in the different rooms that you can push if you fall. You think they'd make it a big red honking thing so you wouldn't miss it, especially for elderly clients. But it's small and if you fall and can't get over to it, so that's a little concerning."
