I visited this facility

Magnolia Place at The Spires at Berry College was more standardized, or institutionalized. It didn't strike me as a homey place. It's very clean. They did games and they had a movie room and all this stuff but I didn't see anybody participating in anything, but it was also during lunch time. The dining area was like a small cafeteria.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is in Magnolia Place at The Spires at Berry College. What I like the most is that it is a big place, and it's clean. It is kind of a five-star place. It's a little expensive though. What I like the least is they don't do enough activities. They keep her meds straightened up, so she does get some assistance. She has a nice room, and she has enough closet space. It's a 1-bedroom, 1-bath, with a kitchen and den area. They have a beauty shop, a gym area, a swimming pool, a bar, and two restaurants. It is a gated place. You call and they open the gate for you. You have to sign in.

Provider Response

Hi John! Thank you so very much for taking time to write a review! We are thrilled that you your mom is having such a great experience and that you are pleased with her being a part of The Spires! We would love to chat and figure out how we can encourage your mom to get more involved in all of the activities that are offered here. Between all that is offered in assisted living and all the things she can choose to be a part of in independent living, we feel sure we can help with that! Julia would be a great person to discuss this with. You can reach out to her.

I visited this facility

The Spires at Berry College had everything you could think of. It was like a small city. Their assisted living was very nice. They had a swimming pool and they even do your nails. It was beautiful. When you walk into it, it's like walking into a mansion. They even have a concierge. They also have courtyards, walking places, homes, condos, and a large building that was about a mile long. You're not going to find any other assisted living that big, but they charge an astronomical amount of money for their entrance fee.

Provider Response

Hi Ed! We are so very thankful that you took time to come and visit with us and that you have such wonderful things to say about our community. I would love to speak with you regarding the entrance fee for assisted living, because I believe there is some confusion about the financial structure of the community. The good news is there isn't an entrance fee to move into assisted living! Could you give me a call at your convenience so we can discuss this further?

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The staff is caring and attentive to residents needs. My mother called them her friends. They took the time to listen to has stories and make her feel special. During her last days, she was never left alone. The rooms are comfortable and large enough to feel like a home.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My mom was a resident of Magnolia Place (Memory Care Facility) at The Spires for three months (Feb-April 2022). My sister and I toured the facility in October 2021 and were impressed with the presentation and tour and felt that the facility would take good care of her. Unfortunately, that did not turn out to be true. Their presentation presented all the things you want to hear but the staff did not fulfill many of these expectations. Although the facility is new and very upscale, the facility has many issues that need to be resolved. Areas in need of improvement include medical and personal care of the resident, lack of daily activities, cleaning of rooms, and communication between staff, management, and families. It’s not a very warm and caring environment. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Provider Response

Dear PlacetoAvoid, First, we want to thank you for taking the time to leave a review. All feedback is important to us as we strive to provide excellent care to our residents. We are sorry to hear that you, your mother, and your family had an experience that did not live up to our ongoing mission. Magnolia Place was built to be a warm, inviting, and engaging community for residents. Our staff strives to foster that feeling in everything they do. We would like the opportunity to understand your experience better and provide your feedback to our team. Please contact Nick Lancaster so we can further address your concerns.

I visited this facility

I visited The Spires just last month. It's new, it's beautifully decorated, it offers all the amenities you'd want, and the staff in there were great. It's just very expensive. We saw one room; it seemed nice and adequate. Nothing extraordinary, just a nice room. They have a pool, gym, and a salon. They also have a snack-bar kind of thing where you can buy snacks during the day if you want. They have a large dining room and a chef.
