"My parents are residents of Whispering Pines Gracious Retirement Living. It's a very nice place, but it's not an assisted living community. You can shop for assisted living services through their affiliate in-home-care company, which is what I have been using. Our experience with them has been excellent, it's been a really well-managed community, the food is excellent and the people is super. Once a week they have an outing. They take the residents on their own shuttle bus out on different field trips, they take them out to local malls and to and fro doctors' appointments. They have a lot of activities in terms of crafts and they have an activities coordinator that sets up cooking classes, movies, crafts and all kinds of things for the residents. They also have a game room, library, computer room, a gym, and just about everything you could want. I have worked very closely with the staff and they have been very accommodating with everything that we've needed. They have a gourmet cook that does a super job, and there's a lot of variety. The staff has been excellent too, and the activities are a lot and well-planned. It's not really cheap to live there, and in the course of the time my parents have been there, they have raised the prices a good bit. The facilities are excellent, they keep the building clean and it's well-decorated inside. In fact when you walk in, it doesn't even look like a senior community, it looks like a fancy hotel."

"Glenaire was a beautiful facility with beautiful grounds and fountains. It was a lovely place and I could see why they would have a waiting list. We were shown the facility, the dining room and an example of the room that would be available. The room was well equipped and they went over the menu, too. "

"I spoke at length with the young woman at Preston Pointe that took me on the tour, and it’s a wonderful place for when I’m older. The residents all seemed to know each other, were busy doing something, and the facility is very lovely. The location is quite lovely because it’s not overly developed yet; it sits up on the crest, and there are lots of trees and greenery. The grounds are kept beautifully, and things were active. It wasn’t that people were just sitting in wheelchairs waiting to be moved by something or someone; these people were active, mature adults. I think there was somebody in the TV room, and if I remember correctly there were some people playing cards. They have activities room at the back of the theatre where they have movie nights with popcorn. I was surprised when I looked at a studio type apartment; it’s a small size but it was very airy and sunshiny. They have done a beautiful job with the windows so that all the rooms are naturally lit and it makes them feel very gracious and very inviting. I did see the dining room which was quite lovely, I read and saw the menu, and it sounded good. They’re conscientious of feeding healthy, delicious food. I saw lots of staff doing all kinds of jobs, talking to residents that were coming up to the desk to make reservations for some activity, and walking around just kind of overseeing residents and what they were doing out socially. The people that worked there are a delight. The woman who took me on the tour knew her business, and she loved what she does. She is there because she wants to be there, she wants to be working with this age group of people and she is helping them; you can’t ask for more than that when you’re getting help. If you’re getting help from somebody, you’re going to get the best help that there is, so I would say that part was exceptional. "

"My husband and I have lived in an estate home since it's opening in November 2013. This community of around 250 people is a vibrant and caring mix of younger and older people. Many of these well educated and well traveled people moved here from across the country to be closer to family. There is a very wide mix of interests and talents supported by our activities and wellness staff. Our healthcare facility will be expanding this year. "

"My sister-in-law's mother is at The Oaks at Whitaker Glen, and it is a very nice facility. It is very clean, operates well, and the staff is nice and helpful. They adhered very well to the COVID protocols, like not allowing anyone in unless they were caregivers. They have lectures, bus trips, movies, and an exercise facility. The food is excellent, too. She's very happy there."

"My mother-in-law is in Springmoor. It's a high-end place, and probably costs $6,000 to $7,000 a month. They have beautiful grounds, it's a life-care community, and if we could afford it, I'd probably go there. We saw her a couple of months ago, we were allowed to sit across the room. They're not allowing visits right now. They have a very good staff, they maintain this place beautifully, and it's an extremely well-run facility. The staff responds very quickly at any request you make. You get what you pay for. The food is good, not gourmet, but more than adequate. They have large grounds, beautiful walking paths, they maintain their trees, gardens, and bushes. It's a beautiful place to live."
