"We like Hunt Community very much, and we've been there twice. I'm not sure we can afford it, it was quite expensive. It seems like a very high-end, top of the line establishment. I don't think you could step outside anywhere. There were a few places with a balcony maybe, but we didn't really see those. The room we saw was very impressive, but it was more confined than the other place we toured. They could improve on having access to the outside, though I know that's not totally possible in a lot of places. The staff members were very friendly; we spent a couple of hours there. It was a guided tour with several other people. They gave us lunch, which was excellent. I think they had two restaurants and a library, which most places do. They provide transport to the pool in another place."

"I was very impressed with The Huntington and I liked it very much. It was bright with pastel colors, homey and friendly. It was not dark and dingy. I saw people were enjoying themselves. They were out and moving about. It seemed like the independent people were laughing and having a good time. The nursing and the assisted living sections were very nice. "

"We liked Edgewood. I liked the size of the room, the people, the setting, and the price. The food was very good. "

"We toured Riverwoods Manchester a few times, and the people were very friendly. It was a really nice-sized facility. There were a good number of activities. One of the things we liked about it is that the independent living was connected to the assisted living, memory care, and the full nursing care. If one of my parents had to go to another level of care, the other one could visit all the time or they could move together. They had a nice variety of units with different sizes and prices. They have a full gym, classes like tap dancing, chair yoga, chair Taichi, lectures, and movies. They did not have a swimming pool though (which was something that I was interested in), but they had all of those other things. They also have some nice communal spaces where they set out a continental breakfast and free coffee every morning to encourage people to come out and socialize. They had some nice outdoor patio spaces, and they looked nice."

"I only visited Carleton-Willard for about half an hour in July 2012, but I got a very positive impression at the time I was there. My step-grandmother is currently living in Carleton-Willard's assisted living facility, after transitioning there from their independent living apartments. I appreciate that she is able to transition towards receiving more care as her age increases and her Alzheimer's gets worse, all within the same facility. The facility seemed very clean and well-lit, and all of the staff were friendly and engaging. Her rooms were a nice size and looked very comfortable, and the staff ensured that the grounds were pristine - including her personal patio. There were dozens of activities to choose from each day - we saw signs for movies, croquet, jigsaw puzzles, billiards, etc. They held daily events and had a great library including recent titles. There were respectful, small memorials to residents who had recently passed, and great welcome signs for new residents. The facility seemed incredibly well maintained and truly geared towards the residents' best interests including not only comfort but also day-to-day enjoyment. "

"I needed to have a home for my father when he was released from the hospital due to loss of mobility and physical mass. The advisor we spoke to about the home was terrific. She gave me the necessary information I needed to start the procedures of having him accepted, including contact and form information I would of never known on how to obtain. Who would know what you need to do until a situation like this arrives in your life. The facilities were proper to what he needed. Rehabilitation daily, other residents who seemed energetic and wanting to keep active mentally and physically. Obviously there are a few exceptions to the rules as with all the other homes we visited. There seemed to be reasonable amount of nursing staff to help and not keep him waiting. The food they have though was nothing much to talk about, but the other places we visited were not much either. His room was sufficient I feel for what he needed. He had a great view out his window of a gazebo. There was plenty of room for a somewhat living space for him in there. I mean it has to be tough going from your home to a room in a strange atmosphere. But I feel comfortable having him there and he seemed to be somewhat understanding and felt comfortable as well to be there. Prices though seemed high. I believe it was 250 a per day but his insurance was covering 100% for the first month then we paid $140 per day thereafter. Thankfully he was only in the home for 2 months. But overall he was able to come home so to me I'm happy to have had a place for him to recover. "
