"We chose Whitefish at the Lakes for Mom, because it has more residents. It's a newer facility and my mom has her own washer-dryer. She really likes the food, too. The place is very neat and tidy. The staff is very helpful and has bent over backwards to assist. They have chair exercises, coffee in the mornings, singing, a walking club, and a beauty salon onsite. The cost is comparable to the area."

"I toured Golden Horizons of Crosslake. The director was outstanding. She knew everybody and they liked her, that's number one and so important. Also, the second thing is, that it's not huge. It was a smaller group. Some places have lots of people, and this place doesn't. They had things that I thought were important, such as having meetings where they could sit around a table and discuss something."

"I liked the staff very much. I thought the place was OK, but it's a little big for my mom and it's a little farther away for me, but I liked it. I saw more of a studio apartment. It didn't have a kitchen. Some of them had little refrigerators and microwaves, but some didn't. They were very thorough and very experienced. It looked like a good place."

"My Grandmother had slow progressing dementia for nearly the last decade of her life, and though she retained her personality and desire for independence she needed assistance with daily tasks and her medical needs were too complicated for her. She settled in here very well, the staff were kind and polite and respected her independence while still providing her top quality care. The quality of the nursing care available here was impressive, compared to other facilities I had visited this one was the most professional. I'm really impressed with the improvements they've been making recently. I really appreciated everyone who worked there. Almond house was also not as expensive as some of the other options I looked into, and it was in a very nice area, my Grandmama was really very happy here. She had been depressed before she moved to this facility, but her mood greatly improved with the care and interaction she received here. "

"I like Edgewood - Brainerd. The rooms in memory care were very small and you felt like it was a real lockdown. I think the staff members were good. It seemed to be pretty clean. And the carpets were clean. The receptionist was very friendly. The reception area was open. The residents were sitting in an area in the reception room that had a sofa and a TV, and they seemed to like it there because they gave it plenty of good reviews."

"I was very impressed with this facility. My great aunt was a very independent woman and she really enjoyed her space. She loved her apartment, and she said the nurses did not intrude on her personal space. The facility was clean and well kept. There was a grassy area with plants and it was in great condition, very pleasant to look at. All the employees were kind and cheerful. Even the food was of very high quality, the young children who visited with us said it was delicious, and they are very hard to please. This is a great community and my great aunt was upset to be moved from the facility to the hospital, and passed away soon after. "

"I toured Good Samaritan Society - Woodland. They have more rooms and more home setting. There was a refrigerator and a stove, and it had vinyl plank flooring. It was much more appealing. It was very clean and excellent. The staff was very good and very helpful. They have good activities for veterans. My father is a veteran. They have a group that gets together for veterans. I like the music selections and the fact that there are religious services. The clientele just seemed a lot more in line with my father and his capabilities. It was all on one level."

We dealt with one person primarily because we were on a tour, and she was very good. She explained everything in plenty of detail and was very friendly. And the building was very clean and up-to-date. The receptionist was very friendly, and the entry area looked very nice."

"Senior Class Care is fairly new, very clean, and attractive. The staff is very attentive and very kind, but I’m hearing some complaints about the food from my father. The apartments are average, and my parents have a single room with a bathroom. Dad says the staff people are treating them like royalty. "

"My sister is in assisted living at Edgewood Baxter. They have memory care, too. It's very friendly. It's like a family community with very good food and very caring people. They have transportation to Wal-Mart, they can order food from Cub and have it delivered, and they take them to their doctor appointments. They said that there was a van that would take them to other things like the bank, but now they're saying they don't do that. That was the only thing that we were kind of disappointed in because they told us they did and they don't, but they provide everything. It's a great place to be. She's very happy there. They have a lot going on every day. They have people come in and play music. On Fridays, they sometimes take them to different places. My sister's very fussy and she loves their food. They have a nice dining room. It's very big and very nice, and it overlooks a wooded area. The facility is very clean."
