"We went to Wesley Park Centre independent living, but we're also quite satisfied that assisted living would work beautifully. It has the advantage of being across the street from the public library, a major grocery store, and a hospital. It's three stories and it's extremely attractive. The staff was friendly and informative. We've looked at two or three apartments and there were spaces, in particular very nice kitchens. They have a workout room. If you want meals instead of cooking your own, even as independent, meals are available. They have all the standard amenities. The dining area was fairly spacious. The tables were not crowded closely together. They're fairly well spaced out. It's attractive and comfortable. There were other areas also that we did not look at. If you were having a meeting with 12 or 15 people there were a couple of rooms available, and that sort of thing could be done over a meal included. Upkeep and maintenance were excellent."

"I got a lot of positive reviews from community members and that was a big reason why I chose Newton Village for Mom. I also visited the facility and liked their updated rooms and apartments. I liked their meal plans and also their activity schedules, and they already had some accolades as far as accrediting some good things about their facility. I don't have anything bad to say about them. I'm pretty pleased with their services, whether it is nursing services, meal services, or care services like ADLs. They're good at contacting my mom's long-term healthcare insurance company to be able to coordinate with them so that she can receive benefits from them to be able to pay for some of the cost. So, it was a pretty good experience all the way around. There are certain days when she doesn't like the food, but she's pleased with the food for the most part. They do balloon ball, bingo, and lots of crafts. She always has a crafts setting on a table, which she enjoys. They have some classes where they do different movements and exercises. She's usually not involved in that, but I know that they have that. Sometimes they have outdoor activities, like they do a horse cart ride in the summer. I'm pretty pleased with what activities she's able to do and it's not too busy and not too slow. The staff is great. They've always been cooperative, very kind, and customer friendly. They seem to have a good program going. I like that they have a chaplain on staff full time. So she does services and they have Bible study during the week, and then a couple of services on Sundays. They've always been kind, and caring. They always ask them how everything is going and always make sure where my mom's at. Compared to some of the other ones, the facility seemed like they were updated and very clean. They have a constant cleaning program. They come in and clean and I've never seen anything close to dilapidated or dirty, so I'm impressed. Everything's expensive, but it was cheaper than the other facility and cleaner than the other facility that I compared it to."

"This was home for my mother for 8 years! She enjoyed everything about Windsor Manor. The staff, the other residents, the activities, as well as the food. FUN is encouraged and makes for happy residents. My mother was 99 when she needed additional assistance, but there are several other residence as old, or older at Windsor. Residents thrive here! Thankful for assisted living facilities like Windsor Manor (Grinnell) "

"Mayflower Home was an excellent choice for my mother. I decided for this facility because of the way the staff interacted with the residents. They were welcoming to everyone including the family. My mother is in a shared room. Music is played for the residents since they cannot endure physical activities. I tried their food and it was yummy. The family can even request from the facility if they want to dine together with the residents. "

"Hearthstone, Pella was very clean. The staff was really good and engaging with the residents. They have what they call "The Cottages" and that's where my mother-in-law will stay. She will have a nice room there that is big enough to bring a few of her things from home. It's nice, organized, and the residents seemed happy. There's a very nice place that they can go outside and they have an area where they can do activities or just visit."

"My grandmother moved into Courtyard Estates at Hawthorne Crossing. She's been there for over a month now. The lady that I had spoken to was very helpful. It is like a family there. I go, and I eat supper with my grandmother every day. I get to know the people that my grandmother is getting to know, so that's kind of like one big, happy family. They've been very open. They're very clean. You don't smell anything at all. It's bright and happy. It's exactly what we needed for my grandmother. They have a salon, so they can get their hair done. They take them out on outings once a week. They go to lunch or a movie. They do what they can for the residents who want to do that. We didn't have a TV for my grandmother for probably 3 or 4 days, so one of the nurses would take her out into a room and turn the TV on so that she had at least a TV to watch when she wanted to watch it. They were accommodating to her until we got all of her furniture moved in. They just kind of go above and beyond. The food is pretty good. It's more home-cooked and not frozen. There are places that are cheaper, but those cheaper places are not as nice."

"The location of Prairie Vista Village is ideal for me because it's close to two of my sons and I like that the home has a patio, which I like having in my apartment. I like the idea that there are two meals a day included in the rent. The rent was affordable to me and there's a garage. The apartment that I will be in has two bedrooms with a full kitchen and laundry (a washer and dryer). The rooms are all quite spacious, larger than the rooms in the house that I'm living in now. There's lots of light in the rooms. The living room has large windows on two sides and the bedroom also has a large window and lots of closet space. The lady who gave the tour was very, very bright, and very intelligent, and she answered all of my questions exactly the way I wanted to satisfy my curiosity. She was very nice. They have an area where people can plant plants in the summertime if they get the urge to do some gardening. There is a small area for that and there's a walking path around the building."

"I just moved into Glenwood Place, and it's wonderful. Everybody has been very friendly and helpful. The cleanliness is superb."

"My mother moved to Copper Shores Village Assisted Living one month ago. We are very impressed with our experience.....and in Mom's words, "I could not have chosen a better place." We appreciate the warm welcome, cleanliness, attention to detail, and help from both the staff and the residents. Overall, they have made a huge change much easier for all of us!"

"Mill-Pond was nice, but Ankeny is not close to our doctors or family. The staff was very nice. We have a friend there, and she loves it. It was very clean. Everybody was helpful. Because of the virus, we couldn't see any of the rooms. The rooms you could see were not taken, but they were vacuumed, clean, and very nice. The dining area was OK. They had to do distancing. There were very few people there because of the virus, so they did a very good job. If people came down to eat, everybody was far away from each other."

"We moved my parents to Village Assisted Living two years ago and have been very pleased with the care they have received. The facility had only been opened for a short time when they moved there. Their apartment is beautiful and the staff is very caring! Apartments range from studios to 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartments w/small kitchens. Their meals in the dining room are all included in the price of the apartment and the meals are delicious. Family members eat fairly regularly there and the dining room is very much in a restaurant setting with menus that can be ordered from if you don't care for the daily special. The dining room is attached to a sunroom which looks out over a small patio and lawn area with flower beds, tomato plants, bird feeders and even a windmill along with patio furniture. There is also another smaller room at the end of the dining room with a kitchen that we have used for family gatherings. There are very comfortable, attractive patio chairs and gliders out front of the building that residents like to gather in and chat on nice days. The building itself looks more like a ski chalet than an assisted living facility. When you walk into the front door you are greeted with a beautiful staircase to the 2nd floor, an electric fireplace, a library complete with a computer with internet access and a grandfather's clock. The dining room is on the other side of the fireplace and the elevator is a few steps further. The entryway is beautifully decorated for the holidays. The building is connected by a walkway to the skilled nursing/nursing home where my father was able to visit my mother easily when she was recovering from the flu a little over a year ago. Sadly, my mother passed two weeks ago after a two month stay at Hospice. The staff have taken Dad under their wing and are keeping him busy with group activities to help him get acclimated into his new status of living alone. The staff took over my Dad's medications when Mom was moved to Hospice and are respectful when they come to give him meds by knocking and waiting to be bid entrance before entering the apartment. They talk and joke with him during their brief stay each time. My Dad has Alzheimer's but is still able to participate in exercise classes, attend every music program ever offered, as well as Bible studies, bingo and other outings that they make occasionally. We chose the Valley View Village community because of the different levels of care beginning with independent living cottages through the current assisted living community and then on to skilled nursing, nursing home and memory care also. We highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for an assisted living facility for their loved one! "

"We chose The Gardens at Luther Park for my husband because of the price, convenience, and location. It's beautiful, and I love it. The staff is great, and very helpful. The food looks good, though I haven't tried any. They have all kinds of outings, a recreational room, and card games. "

"Suites of Ankeny was very nice. The rooms were a good size. They have a cleaning service if you want them to come in. They have three meals a day. The lady watching the front desk took me around and she was very nice. It seemed like a very nice, calm place to me. The dining area looked wonderful. They have a lot of activities."
