"We visited the independent living community. The facility itself was great, and the apartment that we were looking at actually had a nice balcony, which would have been nice. For activities, they combined independent living with assisted living. They're a very beautiful place to go to, but just a little further away from all of our kids when I want to see them, so we decided to go somewhere else. They have a one-on-one exercise area and underground parking. They're also newer, and the staff members were always very lovely."

"The people at Fair Haven community are very nice. Fair Haven West is the independent living part, while Fair Haven East is the assisted living part. Both places are very well-kept. I think everything is very well done. "

"Pella Manor was pretty good, and we really liked it. It was a little bit older, but it was really nice. The rooms have a big balcony where you can sit out and look out the green space. It's in an older part of town, so there's lots of trees. The negative is that it's a shared laundry, and she my mother-in-law would have to take her clothes down the hall to a shared laundry room, and she didn't really like that about it. "

"My aunt is in Windsor Manor, and she is doing well. They are helpful. It happens to be the only place that met her criteria. She was looking for a short-term place where she could recuperate, give her more strength, and have some physical therapy. The room was freshly painted and looks nice. It is probably smaller than what she likes, but she gets what she pays for, and she gets a good value. "

"My relative is a resident of The Village. It's very clean. He's very well kept, and he has very good care. He's always clean and looks clean. They get him up and around, and he likes the food a lot. I really do like it a lot. We were just thinking maybe if we could find something cheaper, but considering they have the nursing home right there also, we just kind of decided that might be best. I have tried the food and it is good. He doesn't participate in activities because that's just him, but they do have them. I can't say a lot, but I know they've asked him. He likes to go out, watch TV, sit and visit, and stuff."

"My dad has been at Park Centre for barely a month, but everything I would look at now, I would say it is very high quality and very satisfactory. The staff is fantastic. They’re absolutely the best. My dad’s particular unit has a good size bedroom along with a nice living room area. It is well lit. He has two beautiful windows -- one in his bedroom and one in his living room. There are only eight units on that particular floor, and it really has a community feel for all residents on that floor. It is beautiful. There is a common room down the hall, and all the residents are invited to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the same time. They have the ability to specialize diets -- for example a low-salt diet -- so it is wonderful. They’re very good. My dad has physical therapy on a daily basis to encourage mobility. There is a lot of socialization. They have coffee and movies. He has access to the entire parts of the facility, which includes independent living. The assisted living option is the right one for my dad, but should he need more, there is also a skilled care available in the same facility. Literally, he never has to leave Park Centre. He has gone from independent living to assisted living, and if he ever needs it, skilled care on the same facility. "

"I got a lot of positive reviews from community members and that was a big reason why I chose Newton Village for Mom. I also visited the facility and liked their updated rooms and apartments. I liked their meal plans and also their activity schedules, and they already had some accolades as far as accrediting some good things about their facility. I don't have anything bad to say about them. I'm pretty pleased with their services, whether it is nursing services, meal services, or care services like ADLs. They're good at contacting my mom's long-term healthcare insurance company to be able to coordinate with them so that she can receive benefits from them to be able to pay for some of the cost. So, it was a pretty good experience all the way around. There are certain days when she doesn't like the food, but she's pleased with the food for the most part. They do balloon ball, bingo, and lots of crafts. She always has a crafts setting on a table, which she enjoys. They have some classes where they do different movements and exercises. She's usually not involved in that, but I know that they have that. Sometimes they have outdoor activities, like they do a horse cart ride in the summer. I'm pretty pleased with what activities she's able to do and it's not too busy and not too slow. The staff is great. They've always been cooperative, very kind, and customer friendly. They seem to have a good program going. I like that they have a chaplain on staff full time. So she does services and they have Bible study during the week, and then a couple of services on Sundays. They've always been kind, and caring. They always ask them how everything is going and always make sure where my mom's at. Compared to some of the other ones, the facility seemed like they were updated and very clean. They have a constant cleaning program. They come in and clean and I've never seen anything close to dilapidated or dirty, so I'm impressed. Everything's expensive, but it was cheaper than the other facility and cleaner than the other facility that I compared it to."

"It was my second choice for my sister, we just couldn't get a room there right now. It was a very nice place, and they had a nice courtyard. The staffs who gave the tour were very pleasant and informative. I haven't eaten there, but they had a good menu for their food, and if you don't like what they're having, you can order something else for yourself. They had activities inside that you could also do, and they also take field trips. The facility was very clean, and it was fairly close to restaurants and hospitals."

"The location of Prairie Vista Village is ideal for me because it's close to two of my sons and I like that the home has a patio, which I like having in my apartment. I like the idea that there are two meals a day included in the rent. The rent was affordable to me and there's a garage. The apartment that I will be in has two bedrooms with a full kitchen and laundry (a washer and dryer). The rooms are all quite spacious, larger than the rooms in the house that I'm living in now. There's lots of light in the rooms. The living room has large windows on two sides and the bedroom also has a large window and lots of closet space. The lady who gave the tour was very, very bright, and very intelligent, and she answered all of my questions exactly the way I wanted to satisfy my curiosity. She was very nice. They have an area where people can plant plants in the summertime if they get the urge to do some gardening. There is a small area for that and there's a walking path around the building."

"The Shores at Pleasant Hill assisted living facility was one of the places we saw while looking in the region for our great aunt. The exterior was designed like a hotel or resort, with nicely appointed and beautifully landscaped greenery overlooking nearby Copper Creek Lake. Some of the seniors maintain the garden. The lobby was clean and fresh with very nice staff to greet us. We first saw the fitness center which had well maintained equipment and ample rooms. They also had daily classes and the residents could safely navigate the lovely patio grounds with adequate supervision as necessary. Their library was impressive, with many good books and games. They also offer Internet access. They also have a convenient salon, Internet cafe and work spaces for various hobbies and crafts. The meal menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. The dining room was quite nice, with plenty of space. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious. Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, as well as whenever residents request them. The living spaces were generous, with several different floor plans to choose from and the safety of the residents is assured at all times. The residents are taken to many interesting events in the region -- to take advantage of the many cultural activities. The many planned outings feature everything from book readings and discussions to the arts, and visits to local museums, galleries, film and theater. This is a full service senior community with a very attentive staff -- and we could see how anyone would really enjoy living in this environment. "
