Assisted Living Communities in Pella, IA

"I visited my mom frequently while living in her spacious apartment in the Assisted Living section at Independence Village. The friendly, professional and caring staff always have time to insure the residents get all the care they need. When walking in the hall I could hear the residents socializing, enjoying playing bingo or attending a program. There are many activities and enjoyable day trips provided. The residents can partake in whatever interests them. I know my mom loves living there and I have peace of mind knowing she is well taken care of. "

"The staff at Fair Haven are very kind and friendly. I've gone to other nursing homes to visit other relatives where the staff seemed a little creepy. The staff at Fair Haven are easy to talk to, it doesn't feel weird at all. The staff there do their job very nicely, and quickly. It's important that the staff stay on schedule, and these guys do. The rooms are very nice, they have a bathroom, bedroom, and living room. Which all are very roomy and inviting to visitors. The rooms have chords coming from the ceiling. With that attribute added to the rooms, if there is a complication then the person living in the home can pull the chord. When the cord is pulled it signals that the person living in the room needs assistance. It's really only for emergencies though. Not only are they very good and comfortable for living, they are also very affordable. Some assisted living homes and nursing home can get very pricey. Fair Haven is still pricey just like all other assisted living places, but it's at a little better of a price. In my opinion this is a very good home to look further into. "

"I thought that the overall experience was pretty good. One thing that I noticed was that everybody that I talked to that lived there was still very happy and full of life. I think that is a reflection on the staff that works there and cares for the elderly that live there. "

"My mom had a stroke, and after a nightmare at a nursing home in another town (5 complaints with the state, 4 were founded!), I was able to get her moved to Park Centre for skilled care. The difference in care was night and day. When we realized she would never be going home, they were able to move her to LTC in the nursing home side, and she didn't have to leave. She is as content as can be. The staff have become like family, her care is excellent, communication regarding her has been . As her guardian and conservator, I am the one in contact regarding her care. My grandpa moved here when the building was new, back in the 80s. They are always doing updates, and it is nothing like the nightmare of an old nursing home. We consider ourselves blessed she is there. "

"I got a lot of positive reviews from community members and that was a big reason why I chose Newton Village for Mom. I also visited the facility and liked their updated rooms and apartments. I liked their meal plans and also their activity schedules, and they already had some accolades as far as accrediting some good things about their facility. I don't have anything bad to say about them. I'm pretty pleased with their services, whether it is nursing services, meal services, or care services like ADLs. They're good at contacting my mom's long-term healthcare insurance company to be able to coordinate with them so that she can receive benefits from them to be able to pay for some of the cost. So, it was a pretty good experience all the way around. There are certain days when she doesn't like the food, but she's pleased with the food for the most part. They do balloon ball, bingo, and lots of crafts. She always has a crafts setting on a table, which she enjoys. They have some classes where they do different movements and exercises. She's usually not involved in that, but I know that they have that. Sometimes they have outdoor activities, like they do a horse cart ride in the summer. I'm pretty pleased with what activities she's able to do and it's not too busy and not too slow. The staff is great. They've always been cooperative, very kind, and customer friendly. They seem to have a good program going. I like that they have a chaplain on staff full time. So she does services and they have Bible study during the week, and then a couple of services on Sundays. They've always been kind, and caring. They always ask them how everything is going and always make sure where my mom's at. Compared to some of the other ones, the facility seemed like they were updated and very clean. They have a constant cleaning program. They come in and clean and I've never seen anything close to dilapidated or dirty, so I'm impressed. Everything's expensive, but it was cheaper than the other facility and cleaner than the other facility that I compared it to."

"My father has been a resident at Windsor Manor almost 8 years and he is very happy there. The staff is excellent and take care of Dad as if he was their father. All of them are very caring and loving to their residents. I highly recommend Windsor Manor! "
