My mother-in-law moved into Grand South last September. The experience has been amazing. The staff takes care of her with kindness and compassion. The facility is always clean and the living spaces are beautiful. Marie participates in all of the activities. She enjoys them very much. They are always fun activities that help Marie keep her mental abilities up to par. I can’t say enough great things about Grand South. The staff are always helpful and kind. They are like family!

I had a loved one who lived in Grand South Senior Living for three weeks. His memory got better so I didn't see the reason for him to stay there. Besides the fact that they charge over $7,000 a night, who can afford that? and I do not think they have enough nurses. I do not think my loved one was checked on often enough. He seemed to never have water when I went up there. I think they were very understaffed and they were charging a lot of money. I'm not saying the nurses were mean or nasty or anything, they're just understaffed. He has fallen on the floor and I'm the one that found him on the floor. So, I don't think they're checking on him often enough. His room was one of the smallest ones they had. He just had enough room for a twin bed, a recliner, and a dresser with a TV on top of the dresser. The wheelchair was good in there, too, but that was about it. It was very small. The dining area was very nice, but you didn't get a choice of your food. There were times when they made stuff that he didn't like and if you didn't like it, then you just didn't eat. It looks like they have a pretty balanced diet though. They always seemed like a fruit or vegetable and they always had dessert. So I don't have any complaints about the food except one night they had shrimp and he doesn't like shrimp, therefore he didn't get anything else because they don't get a choice on anything. He didn't go to many of the activities and that was his choice, but they always had something at night going on where you could play bingo a couple of times. Sometimes he would go out, but he stayed in this room a lot. It's a beautiful building. They keep up with all the areas that the general public sees.

I had a physical tour of Grand South Senior Living. After visiting nursing homes with assisted living in the area and then seeing that place, it was the Taj Mahal of assisted living places. It's like going into a nice hotel. It doesn't have any odors. It's pricier obviously than some of your local assisted living places. It is not that much more, but it is costlier. Comparing it, it is unreal. It is just an absolutely beautiful place. Of course, it's new. They've only been open for six months. It's privately owned; it's not part of a conglomeration. It's just nice. The person who showed me around was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. You couldn't ask for anything better. They have a secured courtyard for the memory care people.

My mom has already moved into Grand South Senior Living. This facility has only been opened for about 30 days. They got new people, the facilities are new, and everybody is trying to find their place. She has been there for about a month now. She had a very smooth transition. They were very helpful. Any questions we had about things, they are very prompt in answering. If something's not just right, like the air conditioner vent was blowing on her bed, they had that adjusted the same day. I would say since they're not fully staffed that they're doing a really good job of making sure everything is right. My mom's room is very nice. It has neutral colors. The bedroom and the living area are carpeted. She has a large bathroom, a little kitchenette, a little refrigerator, a microwave, some cabinets, and two separate closets. She's got like a double window, so if she wants to look outside, the courtyard is out behind her room, and so she can see the pretty courtyard. It's so new, there's not been anything wrong. They hung her TV for us, so we didn't have to bring anybody in to try to hang that for us. They did that the day she moved in. We just really didn't have any problems with it being a neat facility as far as maintenance or anything. They have a very nice dining area, and they have a great chef. He came on board about a week or so after they started moving people in. My mom has been very happy with the food. She was not happy with the food where she was before, but she has been happy here with this food. They have a game room, and you can play dominos, cards, any kind of board games, and puzzles. They have a chapel, and they have a worship service on Sunday morning. They have celebrated a couple of things and they decorated like for football games on Saturday. They had some popcorn in the little cafe. They're down there and get you some popcorn if you want to watch football. They have a salon that opened this week, and they have a cafe where you can go and get your coffee. If you just want a cup of coffee in the afternoon, they have little snacks up there and fruits that you can go and get in between your meals if you want them. They also do some painting, and they do some crafts. She has done a couple of little things like that.
