If you are looking for a Hospice provider for your loved one, I would NOT recommend Hospice Plus. Make sure that the hospice provider you choose employs their own nurses and that they do not use contract "comfort care" nurses. The people from Hospice Plus came and told us how they were going to take the burden off of my sister and I, who had been caring for our mother at home. They would provide everything that was needed and everything would be taken care of. We didn't have to worry about the care our mom would get. The experience was a TOTAL nightmare. They use an agency for the "comfort care" nurses, who could care less about giving "comfort". The first "nurse" that arrived asked if we had any gloves. We told her no. She then said "I can't touch her without gloves" and sat on the couch for an hour until the chaplain came. She interrupted him while he was talking with us and asked him to go to the office to get some gloves. What "nurse" shows up to a job and does not have any gloves? The chaplain came back with the gloves and my sister was back with my mom and the "nurse" treated my mom like she didn't have any feelings. She was rough with her and obviously caused my mom pain. It was a couple of hours until shift change and we thought the next "nurse" had to be better. That was not the case. My mom passed away right when the relief "nurse" showed up. The relief "nurse" went back to clean my mom up. The family was in the living room. She came to the doorway and asked if we had towels that my mom had so much fluid that the "nurse" had had to clean my mom up 3 times. That's how much compassion these "comfort care nurses" had. She finally left and it took 2 hours for the Hospice Plus nurse to come declare my mom deceased. When the nurse left we had to clean up everything that she had left in the room. We were very thankful that they only cared for my mom for a few hours. I do not normally leave reviews, I just hope I can save another family the trauma that we went through. Also don't bother complaining to Hospice Plus because all you will get is platitudes and excuses.
