My mom fell and broke her hip and upon discharge from rehabilitation, doctor ordered physical therapy at home. UT Home Care was assigned per doctor recommendation. A nurse came to admit mom, I believe 3 days later, apparently the nurse told us that “they don’t have enough nurses to cover patients”. I am not even sure why the therapist did not do admission because we waited 10 more days until the first therapist saw mom despite several calls from me. If they are this understaffed they should be required to tell patients so we can get a different agency. Very unorganized since, never the same nurse or therapist. We will never use UT Home Care, which we found out later is not even associated with UT Medical Center, they are owned by an investment group that purchased right to the UT name and logo.

The final one that we used was the one connected with the University of Tennessee Hospital. The care was very good. The nurse was always on time or called if she was delayed by traffic or weather conditions. She did come out on a Saturday when she was not scheduled to come out when I called concerned about my mom. That very much impressed me and she agreed with me that mom did need to go in a hospital that day and so we got her in the hospital. They very much knew what they were doing. They were very gentle and the nurses were very, very thorough in trying to determine how she was doing because toward the end, mom really didn't talk a whole lot so they were having to depend on me to describe things and then they would try to double check by getting mom to talk and either agree or not agree so they took the extra time.
