They mean well but seem to over-promise and under deliver. The head of the agency is spread too thin. We contracted with this agency two months ago and each time I’ve needed to communicate vital information to the head of the company, it takes a minimum of two phone calls over a period of days for her to get back to us, and then she misremembers important information re: our situation. The loved one I care for suffers from Alzheimer’s but doesn’t know it. My loved one has canceled the caregiver on several occasions despite us having a contract with the agency for a set number of hours a week. A cognitively impaired individual should not be calling the shots. Each time I speak with the head of the agency, she makes promises that she has yet to deliver on. I feel gaslit and frustrated.

First, make sure that my mother was involved in all decision-making and second, that my two brothers, sister and I resolve any differences now so that we can alleviate any rivalries over decisions about her care or her estate. We now hold family conference calls on a regular basis and my mother knows that we are all looking out for her best interests.
