Recently, my husband passed away from lung cancer. He received in home hospice care. The nurse, social worker, home health aide were wonderful. They answered all of our questions, concerns and fears. They were always only a phone call away. We lived 70 miles from the main facility, but at the end they were there every day.

Our situation... loved one placed in nursing home under hospice care (Midland). First visit with hospice--young nurse told us we probably had "hours rather than days". Well, that nurse was wrong. No big deal, but seemed to be talking from lack of experience. When our loved one worsened, home health care worker came and did nice job assisting with comfort, cleaning, etc. Other hospice staff visitors gave varying impressions. Two of them smelled of smoke--not pleasant. Two of them seemed to want to tell us about their stories--"why they got involved with hospice". WE DIDN'T CARE!!! Final days were great... those persons who came to assist with making sure there was enough morphine given and other considerations... and even taking care of the body afterwards.
