Orange County Office on Aging

The Orange County Office on Aging offers social and financial support services for elderly residents of the county. These include the Dignity at Home Fall Prevention Program, which provides fall injury prevention counseling and assessments of in-home safety. In some cases, the office also helps cover home modifications for older adults. Other services include counseling for county, state and federal senior resources. 

Institute on Aging, Friendship Line California

The Institute on Aging’s Friendship Line California service offers a communications support service for older residents throughout the state, including Orange County. Seniors can call the Friendship Line at any time to receive crisis intervention and human contact support during moments of isolation. This is a nonemergency line for psychological support that helps isolated elderly individuals and is free to use.

Senior Mobility Program

The Senior Mobility Program of the Orange County Transportation Authority offers senior residents of the county transportation services to destinations that aren’t included among the usual public transport routes. Meals on Wheels of Orange County manages several services. Its most fundamental program involves the delivery of nutritious, regularly scheduled meals to homebound elders throughout the county. The organization also offers adult day services, volunteer visitor sessions and care coordination counseling for seniors. 

County Council on Aging Southern California

The Council on Aging Southern California is headquartered in Orange County and offers a broad range of support and counseling services for seniors in the region. Most notably, there is HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program), which offers customized counseling services and group seminars to seniors on accessing their Medicare benefits. The Council also offers its Financial Abuse Specialist Team (FAST) program, which educates elders on avoiding fraud and financial abuse from con artists, family members and caregivers. Other services of the Council on Aging include a long-term care ombudsman and a friendly visitor program staffed by volunteer companions.
