"I toured Oak Park Place and everything was nice. I was impressed by their apartment. They did very good use of the rooms. Betty was very thorough and she was very nice when we toured. She's very good. They have an activity room and an outdoor patio."

"The facility seemed adequate. I was not overly impressed with the common or private areas for those living there, but it seemed to provide them with everything necessary. The staff was friendly and it was clean, but facilities like this can't get around the typical old person smell. Not necessarily a negative, and not really tangible, but there nonetheless. "

"Pine Brook Pointe was clean. The rooms were a little bit bigger than the other place. It wasn't the director who usually gives the tours, but she was great and pretty knowledgeable about the facility. It was nice looking. The size of the rooms is sufficient. There wasn't much going on. I didn't see any clients."

"My mom is in Oak Park Place Burlington. She is settled and happy. I'm very happy with them. It's clean, inviting, and safe. The people who work there are lovely and give my mom the attention that she deserves. The food looks good. They have a chef. The tuna casserole wasn't so great. It was dry, but my mom ate everything. She is nonverbal, so she can't give me any opinions. They're always doing activities. It is worth every penny. She was paying the same amount of money in a facility in Morris, Illinois and this is like tenfold better. I felt like she was very neglected at the other place and she was not kept clean and for the same amount of money or just slightly more, she's getting so much better care here at Oak Park Place Burlington."

"The staff at the Heathers Senior Homes of Ringwood were all very helpful. The only thing that stopped us from choosing them was the location of the room. We didn't feel it was conducive for what we were looking for. Everybody was in their room or something, so I didn't see people engaging in anything. I think they just had lunch, so they probably all went for their naps."

"My mom moved into Lincolnshire Place, and it's awesome. I couldn't even give it a higher comment. They're very good, and they're taking very good care of my mother. They keep all of the people active. They have activities throughout the day. The food is wonderful. They check in on my mom all the time, so she's very happy. My mom enjoys all the meals, plus they give snacks throughout the day. The bathroom is nice. My mom's room is big enough. We've got her a bed, a couple of chairs, her old dining room table, and a TV. We've brought some pictures in, so it's nice. We're having her birthday party there at the end of June, and they have a very nice room that opens up to the outside, so they can accommodate the family. The staff members are very friendly and accommodating. They come in and check my mom's temperature and blood pressure. They tell her when activities are going to start or if she wants to come down for a snack and chat. They'll come and get her. They check in on her to see if she needs her bed made or any help, like getting ready for breakfast. They have one CNA there who comes and sets her hair after it's washed. They have chair yoga, sing-alongs, and Bible studies on Mondays. They go outside. They have entertainment that comes in. There are two sides that house 20 people on each side, so it's not big, so they get attention. The residents can socialize. They have a pool table."

"I toured the Grand Victorian of Rockford. It's classy, and even though it's grand Victorian, it is still more modern. It doesn't make you feel like you're walking into a Victorian mansion. It is very welcoming and comforting. They've got all of the services. Everybody was pleasant. I love some of the rooms. It's all one room, but it has a half wall that you can split to have your bedroom on one side and a living room on the other, which impressed me and was wonderful. A gentleman took me on that tour, and we were standing and talking. One of the staff members introduced herself to me and said how wonderful the place is, even to work there. She seemed sincere. It didn't feel like a setup. Most rooms have a refrigerator and a microwave, but no stove or anything, even for assisted living. So, the person can still have snacks or do things in their room. They have the pull cords and everything, but they also track whether or not somebody is showing up for meals. They all have a button on them. The nice thing is that they are aware of their people and call people by their names."

"Sunset Ridge Jefferson was a very nice facility. I couldn't say enough things about it. It seemed like it would just be perfect for my parents and it's 5 minutes from where I live. We could hear happy voices from the residents and they were playing cards while we were there. The front room felt like a hotel lobby. It was just very, very nice, clean, and cozy. It was adjacent to a golf course so it's got a scenic view. It seemed very ideal. They had medical staff always on hand. One nurse would always be available. The very nice lady that gave us the tour lives nearby and said she, too, was always on site. They were all cordial and very friendly. They had a TV room with a dozen reclining chairs so that everybody would be able to sit and watch a movie without having to jostle for it. They seemed to have a very nice modern kitchen."

"My mother-in-law is in Morningstar Village's assisted living. The place is very clean, very welcoming, and very warm. Her room is very pleasant. She's in a 1-bedroom apartment, and we moved her own furniture and paintings there. The staff have all been very friendly, very informative, and very caring. For activities, they have bingo and things like that but she is not in a position to participate because she's bedridden. They also have a salon. I saw them all lining up to get their hair done. For food, you can request changes from what's on the menu. I believe they have alternatives. My mother-in-law's food is mostly delivered to her room because she's not mobile. They have brought her down to the dining area once or twice."

"My brother-in-law moved to Bickford of Rockford. We've been impressed by how they have initiated, like, physical therapy, speech, and cognitive therapy. They have assessed him and provided different programming that meets his needs. The staff was attentive, accommodating, and cooperative. They've been great. My husband goes and has meals with his brother every day. My husband doesn't eat the full meal, but he likes the dessert or different little things so he can eat with him, and it's very good. The facility is very clean. It smells fresh. Just the other day when we visited, they had dog training that came in. There were different dogs that came in, so it was kind of a fun entertainment program. It is worth the money. The cost of being there seems to be less than the facilities that my other friends and relatives have. I have not price-checked them at all, but just talking with friends the value seems to be reasonable."

"We toured Trustwell Living at Cherryvale Place's assisted living for my mother-in-law. The place is very lovely and could be an excellent option. It's very pleasant. They had a lovely outdoor area for the residents. It was all on one floor too, which was nice. The person who took us around was very knowledgeable and very helpful. They had a big activities calendar, so I think they offer them but I just haven't looked at that because it does not apply to us as my mother-in-law is not mobile."

"The structure at RidgeStone Village was like a big square and the apartments went around the open area in the middle and so my mom felt it was too confusing to try to get around there, but the facility is very nice. The staff are very nice and helpful. They have activities going on every day and the staff checks on the residents to see if they want to play games. "

"The staff seemed to be very helpful and also very caring and kind. They paid a lot of attention to my cared one, always making sure that she was as comfortable as they could possibly make her. They were very outgoing and knew how to interact with her even though she is very difficult to understand due to multiple strokes and other health concerns. The facility seemed to be a bit older, but it was evident that the staff kept it clean and the age of the building did not seem to be a problem. I appreciated a patio area with tables and chairs that allowed my family to spend time with my aunt out of doors, since I believe that this is part of what helps keep someone who is in such a home happy. There is also a nice indoor visiting area where residents who have mobility and are able to can watch TV and perform other activities/socialize together.Overall, I was very satisfied with the quality of care and the condition of the facilities. "I just liked it. It was small and very homey. Rosewood is the most home-like facility I was at. The staff was good. I've seen the dining room. It's just like a home dining room. The facility is actually a house. They only have 8 beds in the entire facility. It is very small and very quaint. I would recommend this place to others. "

"Sherwood Lodge was my mother-in-law's home for just over three months. It exceeded every single expectation my husband and I had. The facility itself is warm and welcoming, quiet and charming. It is located in a lovely residential area in Williams Bay, WI, surrounded by trees and it is a short walk to Geneva Lake. The staff is unbelievable in terms of their dedication and the loving, personal attention they provided to mom, who was extremely unhappy to be leaving her 5000 sf home on five acres. Mom quickly became extremely fond of each and every person who worked there, particularly Charles, who checked in on her quite often just to brighten her day. Mom weighed 70 pounds when she first arrived at Sherwood Lodge and by the time she moved to ND to be closer to her sister, she weighed 78 pounds because she was obviously THRIVING in her new home. Mom raved about the food Chef David prepared. The kindness that the Activities Director, Michelle, and also Kim, the Director of Sherwood Lodge, showed to my mother-in-law and to my husband and I will never be forgotten. Sherwood Lodge went out of their way to connect mom with people they thought she might form friendships with--and indeed she did! She regularly ate dinner with two wonderful ladies whose company she enjoyed greatly. Mom loved to play the organ alongside another friend she made. Sherwood Lodge also allowed mom to bring her ailing dog to her apartment with her and when her dog had to be put down, which was incredibly traumatic for my mom, she came home to a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a card signed by all the staff with messages of love and support, which meant the world to her. Mom's apartment itself was fabulous! She had a first-floor, corner apartment with 850 sf of living space and tons of windows. She particularly loved having a washer and dryer in her apartment. She enjoyed two bedrooms with closets, a full kitchen with all appliances, a spacious living room, and an enormous bathroom with plenty of storage and a large walk-in shower which included a built-in seat and handheld showerhead for her safe use. Although mom didn't participate in most of the activities offered because of lack of interest, the community had an activities center, a movie theater, a chapel, and regular outings for the residents to go shopping with transportation provided. Mom DID love the beauty salon! Sherwood Lodge was beautifully decorated for every holiday which I'm certain the residents enjoyed. There is a lovely two-way fireplace that greets you as soon as you walk through the doors. It is flanked by a seating area on the opposite side where residents would often gather to enjoy one another's company. There's also a small table in that area that's always filled with fresh-baked goodies and coffee for the residents and visitors to enjoy. I simply cannot stress enough that despite all the wonderful amenities, the cleanliness, and the quiet location, the PEOPLE are what make Sherwood Lodge so outstanding. Now that mom has relocated to another facility in ND, all she does is lament that she never should have left Sherwood Lodge. She misses her friends and the staff greatly. Thank you for leaving my mother-in-law with such fond memories and for making an extremely difficult transition in her life a positive one. God bless you all. Cyndi Fowler "
