What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?
All memory care staff are certified in a person-centered training called CARES. Staff is re-certified every two years. In addition, they receive monthly education focused on dementia specific topics, including but not limited to dementia related behaviors, the dementia disease process, personal care for residents with dementia, and how to engage a resident with dementia in meaningful activity.

Maidencreek Place has residents who range from 72-104 years old. We have higher functioning residents to residents who need full care and are on hospice. We have an Activities calendar filled with musical entertainment, games, exercise classes, church services, trips, manicures, happy hour and bingo, etc.
What programs or activities does Maidencreek Place offer to enrich residents' well-being?
We incorporate the mind, body and spirit in all our activities that we plan. We also meet to discuss what each new resident enjoys.

We are conveniently located close to shopping, doctors offices and hospitals.

Maidencreek Place offers free transportation to physician appointments.
What makes the chef or dining program at Maidencreek Place exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?
Maidencreek Place basically offers all day dining. Our breakfast is made-to-order like going to any diner/restaurant. Lunch and Dinner are set menus but we offer various soups, salads, sandwiches, grilled chicken, baked fish, hamburger, hot dog, breakfast anytime, etc. so no one should ever go hungry. We try to make everything homemade and from scratch.
What safety features or security measures does Maidencreek Place offer to assisted living residents?
We have 2 hour safety checks even through the night. Also, residents wear a necklace pendant to push whenever they need anything.
How does Maidencreek Place keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?
Maidencreek Place contacts families/POA whenever there is a medical issue and schedules quarterly care conferences. Also, our Executive Director sends periodic emails to constantly keep the families up-to-date.
What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at Maidencreek Place during daytime and nighttime hours?
Because we offer 6 levels of care and staff according to those levels, are staff-to-resident ratio changes. But, we can say that we always staff well above required by the state.
If Maidencreek Place accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?
Maidencreek Place is pet friendly and we have outdoor space that is fenced in.
What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?
We have several required monthly trainings and everyone is required to be there.
How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?
We staff according to resident need. Each resident is assessed by our nursing team to determine their individual care plan, including how many staff it takes to safely assist a resident with care, prompting and cueing needed from staff, behaviors, medications, assistive devices, etc. We base our staffing on the level of care needed within our building.
What safety features or security measures does Maidencreek Place provide to protect residents who wander?
Maidencreek Place has a Wander Guard system that alerts staff when they are near an exit including alarms on doors.
What programs or activities does Maidencreek Place offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
Our memory care programming follows an approach called My Day. Research shows that stimulating different parts of the brain during certain times of the day is most beneficial for the resident with dementia. We incorporate the concepts of mind, body, and spirit into our programming to ensure that all resident needs are being met. We think it is important to engage the resident as a whole person and utilize creative expressions such as art and music, cognitive stimulation, social gatherings, and spiritual activities. We utilize person-centered care to engage residents in reminiscing, including personalized stations and kits that focus on resident occupation, hobbies, and interests. Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Upon move in a resident receives initial assessment by the community nurse with follow up assessments at 30 days and 90 days. Thereafter an assessment is completed every 90 days or if there are any significant changes.
What techniques does Maidencreek Place use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?
Our staff are trained in assisting our memory care residents with prompting and cueing while still encouraging residents to be as independent as possible during mealtime. Meals are served in courses on specialized dinnerware designed purposefully for residents with cognitive impairment. We create modified menus for our memory care neighborhoods to promote a successful dining experience.
How does Maidencreek Place keep residents' families informed about their loved ones' health?
We prioritize communication between staff and family regarding resident’s overall health. We utilize a family call program in which a community leader checks in with families about their loved one and any community updates.
