Frankly, I don’t like much about Haven Skilled Rehabilitation, but I don’t have a choice. He has Parkinson’s and is not ambulatory. He couldn’t stay in the assisted living any longer. The staff is very good and caring, but it’s busy and big and don’t have as much help as they did in the assisted living. It’s clean. The dining room is just a one big room where they do sometimes do activities like bingo and crafts. They have church on Sundays and other activities.

If you have a choice at all, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. My dad was sent there on a temporary basis directly from the hospital. He had a couple of sandwiches and some nutrition shakes that went from the hospital to Haven Skilled. They left everything on the radiator rather than put anything in the refrigerator. The sandwiches spoiled sitting there for 5 hours. The call bells are a joke, it's just a light so you are HOPING someone sees it. Dad calls me on his cell to call the nurse and get her down the hall. Place smells of urine and resembles an old state-run facility where the elderly was warehoused waiting to die. It is just a terrible place and I would be horrified to have my dad be a full time resident. Thankfully, he is supposed to be there only a couple of weeks.
