"The staff at the Barron Center were wonderful caring for my mother for many years. From Adult Day Care, to their Alzheimer's unit, to their skilled nursing facility, they were sensitive, kind and professional. They often went above and beyond and were wonderful with our whole family. It is such a difficult disease and they made it easier with their care of my mother. "

"I have been a nurse for 38 years, and found myself a post operative lumbar spinal fusion with a husband not well enough to care for me. I requested a rehabilitation center near my home in Portland. Seaside was the center closest. I was there twelve days, and the only thing I can find to complain about was the food. EVERY person involved in my care was OUTSTANDING! From the RN's to the cleaning staff... every single person, every single day, evening, and night. I was treated with respect, dignity and kindness by everyone I met. The nurses and CNA's are very dedicated, often working extra hours and shifts. In my experience, people don't have that kind of work ethic unless they love their jobs! I can't thank the people there enough for their excellence in my care. "

"St. Joseph manor is close by, and the staff is friendly. They have a basic room with a toilet. The dining room is large and set up like a restaurant. The facility needs an update. "

"I've been in Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco for a week now. I'd recommend it. It's well-appointed. It's modern. The staff is excellent, and the grounds are beautiful. There're a lot of staffers, they're very friendly, and I don't have to wait. Sometimes I have to order something different because I can't eat what they're serving. For breakfast, for example, they have a lot of eggs and I don't eat eggs. I'm getting physical therapy and occupational therapy."

"I went on a tour of this assisted living facility to see how the quality of life was for the residents. This is a fairly well kept facility that has friendly staff that treated the residents as if they were their own family members. Everything is done on a schedule such as meals and different entertainment events that the residents can choose to be a part of such as games. The rooms are kept clean and fresh smelling. The staff are very alert and assist the residents with their every possible need and they do not make the residents wait for a long amount of time before they receive assistance and they are not mean or rude to the residents. This facility is a facility I would consider placing one of my elderly family members in because I wouldn't have to worry about their personal well being. There are so many facilities that are not kept clean and are not so nice to the residents but I can happily say this is not one of those places. The exterior of the facility is well kept and seems inviting and friendly as well. "

"Why 4 stars - The facility is dated & yes, I was freaked upon entering. I've discovered nursing homes are large dorms for the elderly so why wouldn't someone young have anxiety upon entering this type of facility. Think about it-You have NO idea until you have to deal with it, what happens when you can no longer care for your parents.My mother was there for a little over a year and LOVED the cafe which serves up a menu for residents each afternoon and evening. The staff was an outstanding 10 stars - are they a little understaffed-yes; do they employ a few staff who could care less-yes but this is in EVERY facility. Having a loved one in any facility is difficult but trust me put your focus on the simple pleasures your parent may want. Respect, courtesy and great food! I was pleasantly surprised as was my mom. This review pertains to the long term care unit - I can't speak to the assited living area. "

"My father has been moved in to Foreside Harbor for a week now. We have another relative that has been there for two years, so we were very pleased that they had an opening as we are familiar there. The rooms and apartments are beautiful, spacious, and clean. I went over there for lunch today. I had seafood Alfredo, and it was very good. The dining room is beautiful. It’s right on the ocean and has a beautiful view. The people in the dining room are kind of like waiters and waitresses; they really attend to everybody’s needs. They also know the people’s dietary restriction. If somebody orders something that they are not supposed to have, then they’re on that as well. They have a lot of entertainment that comes in, people that do lectures, play games, and movies. They have a lady there with a van, and she does shopping, they have tours, and they have arts and crafts. I think the security and safety is excellent. The price sucks you out, but they are right in tune with everybody else. "

"If I wanted to put anyone in a facility that needs help with Alzheimer's disease I would admit them to Sedgewood Commons just like I have with my Husband. The staff have been wonderful and friendly and very helpful with my husband and with me. When I leave after visiting with him I have every confidence he is being well cared for. "

"My parents moved into Coastal Manor. It's small, it has the feeling of an old house rather than a nursing home. The people who live there are residents rather than patients, and there are many employees who have been there for multiple decades. Also, the owner, he's owned it for 37 years, and he's at the site every day because he lives on the property, so it's independently owned. They're kind, thoughtful, and responsive. I can't say enough about them. Maybe they could update any areas that are carpeted, or painted, or wallpapered, it would be good to see. They're a little dated, but that's OK."

"My husband is in rehab at Kennebunk Center for Health & Rehabilitation. Our experience so far is not good and I can't wait to get him out of there. They're not allowing visitors inside. He's been there for a little bit and we haven't gone in there to see him. They called me to tell me he's fallen three times, and they called me just to tell me how he's behaving when he's got dementia. The thing is, my insurance only covers a certain amount of time, and they're asking me to pay $10,000 a month to keep him there, which I haven't got. They tell me it's their policy. I don't know how to describe the person I've been in contact with over there, but she's nasty and threatening. She's telling me she's gonna send him home to me. I had an accident, and she wants me to care for him. I do not recommend them at all. They walk him around with a walker. There are certain people over there that are nice. The therapist is nice, and the admissions person, Daniel, is very nice. There's another person in charge of Social Services and she is not nice, not professional, not understanding, or just doesn't really care about the resident as she cares about money. I don't really owe them anything. My husband was supposed to leave there a couple of days ago. They're demanding a check for one week as soon as possible, and that's fine, I`m gonna pay them, but I don't like how I'm being treated. You're not getting value like you would in any other facility."

"I was able to visit Ledgewood Manor. I like that when you walk in, it doesn't smell. It's very nice and clean, everything's put away, the people are very nice and very friendly, and everything seems calm and collected. The rooms were adequate, they were clean, and seemed to have everything you would need. The food was good."

"The social worker is a little back-stabber. These people do not know how to get along well with people who have accents from different parts of the country. The facility itself was nice, I never smelled anything bad, but they definitely need to fire the kitchen manager. She refuses to do her job for the residents safety. "
