"My husband's aunt moved into The Blossoms at Van Buren Rehab & Nursing Center. It's small, but I guess that's normal. It's clean. She has everything she needs. The food is great looking. She's happy with the food. There's a good patient ratio to the staff. They have a dining area where they do different events for the people who live there."

"My father had been in rehab at Methodist Nursing Home of Fort Smith before, and he was very happy there and happy with the facility. He came out of rehab. Actually he and my mother are both back in rehab there right now. I have seen it from the outside, and I have talked with people there. Very good. The move-in was very smooth. They're always happy to talk to me if I call to check on them, and they're always saying, "You can call as many times if you need to." As far as them calling me, maybe once a week. It's clean. The food is good. The people that work there are always happy, smiling and cheerful. The facility seems pretty nice. They have an enclosed courtyard at the back for the residents, and they have an outdoor covered patio. It seems pretty nice. As far as rehab, they keep the women separated from the men, and they're both in an individual room. My father is going to be in a nursing home bed, and my mother is going to be in an assisted living room in a dementia unit."

"We were able to do the last mass for dying people. It was one of the most amazing things to ever be a part of. The staff was very comforting and alert but not overbearing. From what I saw that day, many elderly people comfortably take there final steps in their life's journey. "

"Right now, Alma Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center is building a lot of new private rooms. It's not fancy, but it will be a lot better. It's very nice and clean. Absolutely no odor. It's a small town, so they know almost everybody and I knew them when I ran into the store. So, it's like taking care of grandma and a lot of people are coming here from Fort Smith and the different towns all around. They can give you a better service. They are excellent and everybody's like your granddaughter. There's an activity every day. They have a chart that they print out. They have church on Wednesday and Sunday, and they have different preachers come in. Then they have bingo almost every day in the morning and the afternoon. They have birthday parties at the end of every month. They also have a store where people donate stuff. You get your bingo money that you win, and you go in there and you shop and get quite a bit of stuff. At Christmas time, they have a little choir with bells. 150 children under 6th grade come in and we'd play for them and they sing. There are a lot of caroling groups that come in. We make decorations and every door is decorated for all the holidays, and they give everybody a T-shirt with Halloween and all on it. They are very active. They come around and tell you and ask you if you want to come. The food is very good."

"My husband moved into Ashton Place. I've been very happy. The facility is very well laid out and easy for them to get around and not get lost. The people are incredibly trained to work with those who are diminished in their thinking and in their ability to care for themselves. They are kind. They like to interact with humor and interest. There's enough staff. I've been very impressed. The facility is not huge and overwhelming. Their nurses are very astute. They are assigned specific patients, so they see the same people day after day. They are attentive. They get to know them and what they like. In fact, one of the nurses stopped my daughter in the hall and asked about her dad. That, to me, is extremely personal. They are really focused on the individual. They can get out of the hall in their wheelchairs. It's five sections with a center core, and they can go down to that center core. They can go out into a courtyard. It's all right there in one place. They are seen when they go out. They are watched. My husband likes the food. They have all kinds of activities. They play cards. The insurance policy that I have is that I do not pay over a certain level."

"I suppose what struck me most was the smell. What I mean by that is that most nursing homes we visited before my family decided on putting my grandmother in an assisted living center had a distinct mix of putrid smells: urine, feces and -I hate to say it, but I will- old people. River Valley Health and Rehabilitation, though it couldn't quite be absolved from being offensive to the olfactory system, was by far the cleaner smelling of the homes we visited. The staff seemed friendly, competent and eager to help and please. This was even while we would have family members drop in without a set schedule just to see if they were consistently taking care of our grandmother/mother (depending, of course, on the relationship of whoever visited.) The only reason I refrained from giving five stars was because though the facility was the cleaner of places we had been to and was obviously kept up with, it did seem a little run down and old. You can tell the maintenance and janitorial staff did their respective jobs well, but there's only so much you can do with an old building. "

"I went to Golden Years Retirement Village. The people were amazing. They seem to be good people. The lady that runs it was just outstanding. She was very helpful. She'd taken care of Dad when he would come down there, and she loved talking to him. You can bring your pet, so that's a good thing. You just gotta make sure that you're not disrespectful to other people with your pet. So that's just very dear because dad had a little dog and we were going to let him take his dog. Everything was amazing. The price range was very good, and this is in assisted living. The rooms are small. You just have to keep in mind that you're only probably going to get a bed and a recliner or maybe a dresser in the small rooms. If you could afford the bigger room, the bigger room would be nicer. But all in all, it was really good. The dining area was nice. They had a big, old, long table that everybody sat at or you could sit at individual tables. So we were up there when they were eating dinner. It seemed like every time I popped in when they were eating. They had good people there. They had games and bingo, puzzles and checkers, and all that good stuff. The laundry was included in the price, and cleaning the room was included in the price. It was nice on the outside and the inside, and it did not smell. There was not a smell or anything."

"My mom has lived at Greenhurst for approximately 8 years due to multiple Strokes. During this time she has been absolutely so well taken care of that she's gained weight and is as healthy as she can be for a 97 year old lady. Never one time when I've entered Greenhurst have I smelled anything related to a nursing home. It smells like home. I know Jonas and his staff take care of our loved ones more than any place they could be. I know this because I retired as an Adult Protective Service investigator and have gone into many homes and know the difficulty of keeping them clean and sanitary. Greenhurst nursing home does this. They have my five star rating."

"At first I was very skeptical, as I am for most assisted living facilities. With a decent reputation and suggestions from friends as well as employees of the facility I was crucial in making the choice to place my relative here. Initially I had a bit of trouble, but it was to be expected with the advanced case that he suffered from, so I was not thrown off. There was but one incident, a laundry dispute, which mostly took place between the staff and my then fiance. After the quarrel was settled I rarely had any issues with the facility. In the untimely passing of my relative, the staff and company as a whole were very supportive and respectful. I was very pleased with the way they handled not only his stay there, but the ordeal as a whole. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in need of the services. "

"My experience with Sequoyah Manor Nursing Home (SMNH) began in the year 2005. The first impression was this is an excellent facility with the absolute best staff available anywhere. The care provided to every resident far exceeds expectations from the aides to the nurses. Every single one is professional and personal and display love to everyone of the residents and their families. The kitchen staff serves hot delicious meals and the activities are enjoyed by all. I would not hesitate to have my loved one become a resident here where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. This is the resident's home and the staff realizes they are blessed to be employed at this facility."
