My mother-in-law is a resident of Shoreland Health Care and Retirement Center. They have been very helpful for my mother-in-law. They have met her needs. As far as I know, they've done a good job. She hasn't received good physical therapy. The room is small. It's a lot smaller than when she was in a different facility a couple of years ago. They could improve, especially on the therapy that she's received. Also, there's no memory care facility. The staff, in general, I think they have been helpful and knowledgeable. The maintenance of the facility is good, I don't have any issues with that. I think I've seen a salon, and I know they have a physical therapy room. They really need a memory care facility.

First and for most the CNAs are wonderful! Only if the same could be said RNs! My aunt is currently a resident in the Whiteville facility and all I have to say is OMG! I feel sorry for the individuals that can’t speak for themselves! Example: the doctor increased my aunt’s fluid medication from40 mg to 80 mg. My aunt has a copy of the same orders the facility received today. The nurse has ignored her, refused to validate her concerns, refused to read her orders and or try and explain what’s going on!

So far, our experience with Shoreland Health Care & Retirement has been good. I have talked to their social worker, director of nursing, dietician, activities person, and nurses. Everybody has been very nice and very helpful. The place is fairly clean, and my dad seems to be getting good rehab. When you walk in, there's the centralized nursing center in the middle. Then it goes out to three wings where the rooms are. It's a single level facility with single and shared rooms. There's also an occupational therapy place in there.
