The Care Center at Sunset Lake

Sullivan County Adult Care Center was multi-tiered and had an older type setting. The staff wasn't quite as attentive there as some of the other places. The patients seemed like they needed more attention and care than the other places that I saw. It was more like a nursing home than it was an assisted living place. I didn't like the way it smelled, but they're always very nice, treat you well, and are very informative. I didn't find that they were trying to hide anything. It just didn't seem like the level of care was where I was hoping it would be from what I saw, and the price was very high. The setting was nice overlooking the lake. It wasn't as clinical looking, but it was a nice place. The room was nice and clean, and like a dormitory with a shared common area and kitchenette with two bedrooms on each side of it.

When you first walk into the facility it appears to be a nice place to live. The security guard at the door greets you with a smile. The staff seem nice enough, it's clean, and odorless. There are residents in the TV room enjoying the television. The community room is filled with seniors playing bingo. The seniors who live there say hello as you walk through the halls of the residents rooms. Some of the staff members, however, are lacking in the quality of their work. One of the gentleman in the next room acquired a bedsore the size of a football. I will never forget this because there was just no excuse for that. If things got busy around there and my dad needed help they would get a bit nasty if I said something to them. After I payed a visit to the higher-ups things got much better. Overall it's a nice facility.
