"I went to look at Brookdale Echelon Lake. I liked that my sister would have her own room and a little bathroom. She will sit at a dining table and gets to choose what she wants to eat. It has a better atmosphere. She doesn't sit in her room all day. She can move around. It's on the first floor. They provide assistance. They have nurses. The staff members were all very nice. It seems like there is a pleasant and quiet atmosphere there. The facility was clean. It's set up on a lake, which is nice. You could go outside. It seemed to be organized. It's a secured building. You can't just walk in."

"We were very happy with All American at Washington Township. They were wonderful. The staff was amazing. We got to meet some of the residents, and they were very happy. It's a beautiful place, and I love that they have a rehab in there. We were very satisfied with it, and I'm going to check one more out just to clear that in my head and in my heart to make sure, but basically that's where we're going with. They've got semi-rooms, and one of my mother-in-law's siblings who is 91 said that it could be a good thing for her being in a semi-room. The location is great for us. The staff has been nothing but wonderful. Our first time with it, we did a virtual tour actually with Stephanie, then we contacted them a couple of weeks later and said we wanted to come in now if it was able, and we were able to come in with the COVID being lifted a little bit."

"Arden Courts was recommended to us, because they are able to handle my mom's care. So far, they're doing a good job with her. I like that they have two very nice courtyards that they can walk out in all the time. There's also a trail around the building. It's all fenced in and my mom really likes to be outside, so she's out there all the time, and I think that's very good for her. It calms her. Anyone that I met there was incredibly happy to be there. I looked at how long they've all been there and most of them have been there starting at 26 years, down to the shortest one at five years, but most of them have been there ten years or more, which shows a lot about the place. They do a lot of activities with them. They have actual cooking classes and gardening-type classes once a week. Then every day they have your typical bingo, arts and crafts, and that kind of stuff. My mom's always in the activities. They take them out on trips to different places that aren't too far away as well. The bedrooms are kind of small, but they don't want the residents to be hanging out in their bedroom. They want them to be interacting with others. So, it's laid out for certain purposes. The facilities are all nice and neat."

"My mom has been a resident for three years now, and I couldn’t be happier! First, the rooms are beautiful, clean, and very spacious. Maintenance does a wonderful job daily, of coming in and keeping the rooms clean, and waste bins emptied. The residents have access to a Beautiful lounge, movie theater, exercise area, TV area, art area, etc. Each room is beautifully decorated, and clean. Now I would like to talk about the staff. There’s always someone at the front desk as you walk in, who is always there to help you with any needs or questions you have. The aids are very dedicated to their job, and work very hard. I have seen them with patience, kindness, and caring, on a daily basis. ( and I am there frequently). The nurses go above and beyond, and are always quick to answer any question, or any need you have. Everyone there is very compassionate, caring, and professional! I would highly recommend this place to anyone, who is looking to put their parent, or a loved one in a place, to get the care, of being in their own home. I can’t say enough, to express the gratitude, and appreciation, I have for the staff, for treating my mother with dignity and respect, in her senior years"

"My husband is in the assisted living at Cardinal Village. He's in their respite care. As with all other facilities, the parking is the worst here, because a lot of their residents drive. There's not that much parking, but it's been working out fine for me as I've been visiting him this week. I go every other day, and I don't have a big issue with it. I don't have anything bad to say. He's comfortable there, and he likes his aides, which is a plus when you have somebody who has to take care of you. They're very nice people. He had slight complaints about the waitress not bringing him the correct item, but the manager there would correct it right away. He gets soup a lot, and he said it's really good. He's not a big eater, and there are a lot of things he doesn't like, but they offer a lot of different sandwiches, like luncheon meat or egg salad sandwiches, with every meal. If you don't like the hot meal, they have a lot of choices. He has a refrigerator for himself, so he has his own food, too. He could also take the food to his room and have it later, so he's pretty pleased with it. The place is clean, and it doesn't have a bad smell or anything, while some places don't have a very good smell. The building is 35 years old, so it's an older facility, and one would think it would be more musty, but it's not. It's well-maintained. He said their activity director has been in to see him several times. They have bingo and things like that, but he's not interested in them. They do have something different every day if we want to do them. We chose this place because it had everything that my husband wanted, and it was the least expensive. We only need him in there for 60 days, at most, but he needs a lot of care. Besides the cost of the apartment, we also have to add the cost of care, and he is at the highest care level. We got the lowest apartment rent, and we are very comfortable with the place."

"My mom has been in this nursing home for quite a while. And as many of you know, the nursing home was formerly St. Mary's Catholic home which was bought by new ownership. It is now St. Mary's Center. I have to say that I go into the facility every week to visit my mother. I am happy and impressed by the cleanliness and the professionalism of the staff. I am able to compare and see how good they really are because of my experiences with other facilities.. The nursing care is good, and the therapy department was my moms favorite place to be. She loved the staff. Lately they have been doing many renovations that are making the facility look even more inviting. I take my hat off to the new ownership for doing this and making it feel more like home. The one thing I do miss from the past is the nuns that were in the facility. They still have some but not as many as before. I just always thought they were a wonderful calming factor. Overall, St. Mary's is a great place to receive care for your loved one. "

"I liked Summit Place very much. It was a smaller community, but it's not going to be the one for us. It has no gym and nowhere for my husband to continue his therapy. They would have outside therapists come in, but they wouldn't have anybody in-house. It had mini-fridges, which would have been plenty for him. They're giving you three meals downstairs, and Lisa was wonderful. We looked at menus. It had the little square breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the week that you can pick. There were two choices of breakfast, two choices of lunch, and two choices of dinner. They offered soup every lunch. He liked soup for lunch, so that was a plus for him. It's a very nice facility. It's not as elegant as the other facility, but it was a very homey place and had nice, wide hallways. They didn't have a giant dining room. They had a smaller room for other things, such as game time and dining. I think they had 40, not even 39 rooms, maybe. A lot of the people there, one of them was 103 years old, and a lot of people there have been there for a very long time. Their children even end up going there."

"Juniper Village is a beautiful place. It has a gym and has everything we need. The only thing I did not like about it was that there was no parking. My husband is in a wheelchair, and I had to park in like a strip mall that's in front of their building and push him to the building because there is no parking at all. It's very tight on the parking, and that's the only downside. They had all the amenities we needed. Their meals are like a restaurant. You can pick off a menu. It's like a big dining room. It's like going to a diner, and you order from a menu, and somebody comes to you. It's not a bunch of squares with two choices. We were there later in the afternoon. I think they're open from 11:00 to 2:00 for lunch, and I think they open again from 4:00 to 7:00 for dinner. They said that I could eat there with him, say if I wanted to come for lunch, which would be added to our bill at the end of the month. For him, it included three meals a day and snacks, but if he had guests come in they could still eat and sit at the table, order, and it would just be added to our bill. So, that's convenient. It is three stories high. It was very clean. All the staff that we passed in the hallways were very friendly."

"A friend of mine is a resident of Brookdale Evesham, so I go there every other week. We also toured the assisted living for my brother-in-law. It's very clean and they do lots of various things. Every day they have all kinds of activities. They interact so that the residents aren't alone in their rooms. Even if they're non-cognitive, they want them to be at least out in the public area so that they can see other people, and it's not like they're in senior jail. The staff members have been very nice when I go up at the front. The various different ones at the front desk don't know my name, but when they see my face, we say our hellos. They don't want guests coming into the dining room when the residents are in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. If the residents are having some family members over, they have a separate little side room that they let them go and sit in if they want privacy. There's only so much seating, and they can have it for maybe two hours. My brother-in-law is still doing his own things, like his pills and showers, but they have people there who would come to help if he needs it. They also said that if you need more care and go from independent to assisted, you don't have to be moved to another wing or to another floor. You could still be in that room, and they would have it set up so that they would come to you, which is also very nice."

"Symphony Square was beautiful, it was a lovely place. The director was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. She showed us the rooms and the dining area. The dining area was beautiful, they had silverware and glass and not plastics. They take care of the residents and it's actually a more intimate community which is very nice. They were all lovely people. They have karaoke nights, arts and crafts, they paint together, and there were a lot of cognitive therapy that they do that are fun stuff. They also take the residents on outings. We saw them doing karaoke when we showed up, and everyone looked happy participating. It was also a combination of assisted living and memory care, so everyone got to participate in it."

"I visited the independent living community of Marlton Gardens Gracious Retirement Living, and they were great. They're brand new, well-done, the rooms are large, the laundry facility is close by, and the elevators are on two or three sides of the building. I like the activities, and the people were very nice. Overall, it's very nice, with lots of outdoor spaces to sit and relax in. You could park at the nearest entrance to your building, near where your room is, which I thought was nice. They're also very clean. The staff members were very nice, very warm, welcoming, and informative. They're very good. They offered me a cake to take home. I didn't take part in it, but they also offered me lunch and welcomed me back on Sunday to a brunch they're having."

"My wife and I will be moving into Chestnut Ridge. It's beautiful, and it's less rent for more stuff. They have all kinds of programs there. The facility is in tree-lined suburban Chester, it's very quiet, with no loud music, no race, and nothing down the street. It's not far from the mall and within reach of financial institutions and food supermarkets, and they have a bakery. All week long, every day they have a program for senior citizens. They give you a copy of what will be going on every day, seven days a week. They have activities, a bistro, and parking for anyone that has a vehicle. They have art classes, and drawing and coloring contests. They have programs for people that don't have cars where they can get paratransit to take them shopping, and to doctors. They have brain enhancement to help your memory. It's just totally beautiful, and I see why it's a hidden gem in Chester. We will have an apartment; the design and floor plans are beautiful."
