My sister was in Parkview Health Care Facility for three weeks. They took good care of her. but the communication between staff seemed weak. For example, they would have her listed as having been scheduled to take a shower on a Monday, I went in on a Tuesday, and I could tell she smelled so bad she hadn't had a shower. When I asked at the desk, they were looking and they said, "Well, she was here, she was scheduled for a shower." I said yes, but did she get one? And then they found out that she had not, but they immediately took care of it. So that was a lack of communication, I think, more than any kind of neglect. Also, I wasn't happy that you're supposed to be tested for Covid every week, one time per week, and I was tested on day one and all I had to do was show my card. Nobody ever tested me again for three weeks. They had a 15-bed memory wing, they also do regular nursing, and then a combination of rehab which Medicare allowed for three weeks for my sister. She was in the memory wing.
I didn't see a lot of activities and I didn't see a lot of care taken with their clothing, getting to the right people, et cetera. It was clean and neat and organized, there weren't any problems with that. I just think they may be just understaffed. It might be due to COVID, because my mother spent time in that facility some years ago when she had hip surgery, and I remember it being a lot busier and a lot more staff. I'm pretty sure that's the issue there. I thought the facility was fine. It could have had more windows in the common areas. It was a little bit dark, but the rooms all had nice windows. I just thought it was low-quality care overall. The safety was good, the actual staff was good, but they were understaffed. I don't think that there was a lot of communication from one area to another, for example, physical therapy didn't speak much to the people who did the clean-up or did the activities or anything like that, there just wasn't any communication.
