My brother-in-law has been at the Kosciusko home for close to a year. The people that work there are wonderful. Many of them are Veterans and have a high level of respect for the Veterans that are living there. The interaction with the residents is everything we have hoped for, and we have the highest level of admiration for them. They have been a blessing in our lives.

They invade your life with constant paperwork and demands. Just recently they increased the cost for those paying a whooping $310.00 a month. Anyone with 70% status does not have to pay, those with less are paying for them.

I am staying here at The Mississippi State Veterans Home right now. It's an excellent place. I get three meals a day and I have a TV all the time. I enjoy myself and I get a bath once a week. I have a telephone and that's it. I can't think of anything else that I need. The staff is nice. The food has a very good variety. They do have recreation and a barber. They usually have two people in a room, and they always have service. It's very nice. They have Christmas and Thanksgiving. They also have a beer day.

My father was a resident here. His care was good until he tested positive for covid19,on May 7,2020.Daddy was put on a narcotic cough med,and he was asleep all the time.He fell trying to get to restroom.Nobody to help him..Daddy's care went downhill from then. His cell home was our lifeline to him,but he w as out of it all the time.Daddy does on June 8,2020 ,complications from covi d 19 ,lung cancer, and mental anguish! He could hardly ever get a nurse or aide to answer his call button.Daddy would cal my sister crying ..he was in pain, blind in one eye. .staff didn't even know this..I don't think they cared.Only went on his room to give med and take vitals.Daddy was neglected here and anyone who would like to dispute this..I've got a lot more...Don't trust these ppl with your loved one..My daddy had more time..because he caught the virus there..I can only see my sweet daddy at a cemetar y now..Things are shady at this place...😠😠ðŸ˜

My father has been in the VA home here for a few years. The staff there have been nothing but lovely and so helpful. When I talk with them they seem to all genuinely care for all the patients. My father now has Covid 19 and they are taking such good care of him and are always so willing to give me updates. I work in the healthcare field and have seen many bad nursing homes but this one has been a pleasant surprise. Thank you to all the nurses and staff that are taking care of my dad. Lovey is one nurse there that always has such great knowledge and care for my dad - among many others.

I know its not easy caring for elderly people and I have the upmost respect for those who do, and do it well. However, it is sad to see those who disrespects the patients and even their vistors. The veterans are men and women who have sacrificed their life for the freedom of the very ones who may mistreat them while in their care! I believe this home needs a good leader that will set forth a job description for each person caring for each resident. This way you would all know your duties and the residents would have the treatment they deserve!

These people are understaffed & have let my grandfather fall 2 times. If you are putting your family here avoid D wing! Shelia is the most rude person there. For someone who is supposed to be a nurse she needs to look up the definition of her career & have respect for patients & their family. To yell at them simply because you need her assistance to get HER patient to the restroom is unacceptable & for her superior to simply say you have to either love her or hate is even worse! Then they suggest my grandfather move to a different wing instead of correcting their staff is mind blowing! This place has become a joke!!! Will be reporting to both of their superiors!!!

My personal experience with my friend at MS State Veterans Home in Kosciusko MS was a positive one. My friend suffers from Alzheimer's disease and is in the late stages of the disease. Every time I went to visit him, he was generally well groomed and seemed to be content. The facility is well kept and has enough staff on hand to care for the needs of the number of patient residents. The staff always called on special occasions to notify family and friends of particular events that were being planned for the residents. Also, if he needed something in particular the staff would call and let the family know which items to bring on the next visit. In general, the staff was very proactive for the welfare of my friend, and I really appreciate their efforts in that regard. I would definitely recommend the MS State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi to anyone who has a loved one that they want in good care.
