When my mom could no longer stay with him, Sterling House offered a respite care service to my mom. The people at Sterling House have been a Godsend to me and my family. I think this is the first time in a long time my mom is actually enjoying herself. "

"It was a very positive tour experience. The people there were very warm and friendly. The staff looked like they were doing an excellent job of interacting with the residents. It is strictly memory care, so there aren't people that don't have memory issues interacting with people who have dementia. It seemed to be a better fit for my sister. There are only 20 rooms. They have three available right now, so it is a small community. It just seems very pleasant and it's residential. It's not in a busy part of town. We left there yesterday with a very positive feeling. The rooms were relatively small. They only have a half bath attached, but they have two rooms in which residents can shower and they help with that, which is good. The room itself is about 15x15. It has a decent-sized closet. They can provide furniture or you can provide your own, and I think we're going to provide furniture. It has a nice view. There are birdfeeders right outside her window, which she will love. The staff was excellent. We did not see a menu, but they have a kitchen there. They prepare all the meals there, from fresh food not shipped in things. We were there shortly after lunch, so people had already eaten. They have several rooms, large rooms that are set up almost like living rooms. One has a fireplace in it and actually an organ in it. Another room has a number of tables set up. They've got some puzzles that people are working on. There were people just sitting and visiting and doing some work with colored pencils. They had a lot of nice activities available that people could participate in if they chose to. They don't force anybody to do anything, but we're hoping that she will adapt and be a little more sociable when she's there. The dining area was small, but there were only 20 residents, so there are maybe four or five tables set up. They will serve meals in the room if that's what the resident wants. They don't force people to gather, which is good. I was impressed with the facility when we toured it, but I don't know what our experience will be like once we actually have her moved in. The staff during the tour was very, very nice. She's not there all the time. They have three facilities in the area and she spends time at each of them. They're going to be doing some remodeling, but they need some updating and things like that. They're working on it. They said they have new furniture ordered for the lounge area, and they're trying to replace the floors in various rooms."

"Ellen's Home of Germantown was very nice. They were very friendly. They were accommodating. We discussed different issues and personal belongings, and they were very accommodating and tried to help solve how we could accommodate different things. Overall, they were just willing to help in any way, shape, or form. They were nicely laid out. Everything was clean. I didn't see anything in disrepair. Everything looked quite nice."

"My father lives in Frontida of Germantown. They seem to be very caring, very patient, and very good. My father's room is just fine. The public areas are very nice. The dining room is well set up for the people in the facility. They do bingo, and other games and get them in the common area to do exercises. The grounds are very nice and well kept up, too."

"We are choosing Ellen's Home of Germantown South for my husband because it seemed like a good fit for him. It was more sparsely populated and there was more room for him since people weren't right on top of each other. The place was very neat and the rooms were nice-sized. They had a bird aviary there, which was very interesting. It just looked like things were under control. No locks on the door, which was something different but necessary for some. The staff was very helpful and informative. Overall, it was a very good tour experience. It just felt right."

"We talked about independent living at StoryPoint Mequon, and then we also spoke about their personal care, how they have different ways that they can match the needs of the residents to what their services are. We discussed the memory care because my mom may be needing more care than what I was in there for the first time. The building was phenomenal. I got to meet the executive director. She shared with me how they interact with the residents. All the residents have her personal phone number. They meet with all the heads of the departments once a month, how things are going, what's good, and what's bad. She gave me a great tour of the facility. I got to see residents interacting with one another. She showed the outdoor feature. There was like a screened-in patio area, a little barbecue area, a flower garden area, and a firepit area. I was very pleased with it. We saw the dining area. Upkeep of the place was excellent. It's very well kept and very well organized."

"I toured The Arboretum Senior Living. The facility looked very nice, but that was just one of the things. It was neat and clean. The dining room was nice. They had also offered that if you wanted room service, they could bring your meal to the room, and the bedrooms were generous in size. The staff was very informative and friendly, and provided me with all the information that I needed to take along. They had an exercise area and a gathering area. Then, their activity schedule, I was provided with different things that they offer there."
