"I would not recommend Cranberry Park West Bloomfield for memory care. I took a picture of the food they served my husband for dinner one night, and it was a cup-sized chili, a small croissant with such a thin layer of either chicken salad or tuna salad on it that you couldn't even see it without lifting the bread, and a juice. The facility was clean. The first thing they tell you is they will keep your loved ones safe, but they did not do that. I was just so upset that my husband spent six days in the hospital until I could find another place to put him, and when we got that done, he only lived about nine days and died, and I blame it all on the fall. Another resident shoved him, went into the wall, hit his head, and then fell to the floor on his hands and knees. I had seen him that day, and he was functioning as good as he always has. He walked, he talked, he ate, and he could express his opinions. After that fall, I went to the hospital and saw him in an emergency room. I could not understand him because all he was talking about was gibberish. There was no program in trying to help his memory. I went in one day, and he was sitting all by himself in the dining room. On another day, he was in the dining room looking out the window. Nobody else was with him. If I had to do it over again, he would never have been placed there. The staff was OK. They were friendly, but they didn't give him much help. All they did was babysit. They didn't keep him safe. He was a big eater, and he would eat anything, but when I saw what they were giving him for dinner, that's all he had. As far as personalities go, the staff was very friendly, but they certainly did not do a good job with memory care. They were not trained for it. The only thing I ever saw them do was play balloon volleyball. They had puzzles set up and Legos and stuff like that, but nobody was ever there to help them. I saw one lady who was working on a jigsaw puzzle by herself. I think with the balloon volleyball, it was just my husband, and when I came in, I joined in, but the rest was all staff."

"My wife is in here. It's a nice place, the people seem very capable and nice, it's fairly close to my house, and the memory care unit will allow me, as a caretaker, to visit her every day. The staff all seem very caring and kind people as much as they're taking care of other people, not their own loved ones. They seem more capable than other places. The food is good too. The facility is nice and new, maybe like 3 years old. It came out as number 1 on my list. They have people that come in, 4 or 5 times a week, and play music and the residents have crafts for them to do."

"My mom moved to Golden Grace by Majestic Residences. They've been very caring. They're also very good at helping with the transition because we just moved there. The food was very good. There was no smell. Everything was clean and dusted. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. It's not a large facility, but for a group home, it's laid our very well."

"My dad is in assisted living at Provision Living at West Bloomfield. It's great. They take good care of him. The staff is great. The food is great. They have really good activities. They have a gym for PT. The facility is nice, and he is well cared for. The food is really good. The chef makes the food. It's a good variety. You can either eat at the restaurant or in your room. Bigger portions would be our suggestion, though."

"The memory care at American House Freedom Place Rochester is a totally separate building. It was like its own entity, so I liked that aspect of it. It would be perfect for someone who is going for memory care only. Everything about that place was great. They had a crafts room, and they had an exercise bike in the hallway. There was not a whole lot there because it's all memory care, but it's good for that purpose. The layout of the rooms was nice. The staff was super informative, nice, and thorough."

"My mom moved into StoryPoint Farmington Hills a year and a half ago. It was built not that many years ago, so the rooms are well laid out and modern. Everything is well kept up and has been recently updated. Her walk-in shower is better than any shower in my house! The meals are constantly changing with continual input from residents. There are snacks available 24/7. StoryPoint hosts frequent parties, holidays, and celebrations which offer different and elevated food options in addition to lots of fun activities. The rest of the residents here have all been kind and welcoming. There are plenty of different activities each day to choose from to keep anyone interested. Truly, the best thing about this place is the staff. They are all so very friendly and everyone is helpful. All members of the staff greet you and introduces themselves. From the gentleman who cleans her room, to the extremely welcoming front desk, to the office staff, and to every medical professional on staff. Everyone I have talked to seem to really like their jobs and working at StoryPoint. Everyone will offer to help you directly with whatever you need or find the person who can help you if they can’t. We are really glad that we made the choice to have mom live here. She is really enjoying her new home."

"We toured Sunrise of Bloomfield Hills. The building was a little rundown. The clients I think we're a little bit further along, so it's kind of a depressing feel to us. I think the amenities were less than what we saw in the other place. But on the flip side of that, the staff was extremely helpful. The staff that I met were outstanding, and they were answering all the questions, they were very friendly and very good. There are a couple of places where you could tell the floor had been damaged and scraped in, a couple of spots on the wall where the wallpaper was peeling off, and it just looked like it needed a little maintenance."

"I went to Grace Senior Living Rochester Hills. It's smaller than most. It only has 20 people in memory care, and I think 65 people, maybe in assisted living. So a total of 85 so I think they're all about the care more than about the amenities of the building. Some of them I've been to have beautiful buildings, but I don't think they're getting as good care. I like the staff a lot. They were very helpful. The nurse came to our home to interview my husband ahead of time. I've never had that happen before. So, they could custom-make a program right to his needs. So that impressed me. And it's small. It's only right now one, the owner lives locally in Rochester, and so they only own that one and they're building one other. So, the owners are hands-on. It's not a chain. Like most of them, they have a couple of hours a day where they get together as a group and they play games or they do social activities together. They also have craft rooms they go to. They get taken down for entertainment if they're interested in the first level. So, they have use of the whole building. They can go down to the assisted side, but only with either a caregiver or a family member or friend. They can't go down there without them, but they have access to the theater. They have a movie theater downstairs, entertainment, a beauty shop, and normal things. I like the smallness of it. That's part of it."

"My mother has lived at Flourish Collection (previously Blossom Springs Assisted Living) for the past 4 years. The care she receives after suffering a stroke has been wonderful. The staff treats her like a family member and gives me piece of mind when I can’t be with her. While nothing is perfect, they are always willing to listen and try to correct whatever the problem may be. While I don’t live that close to the community, I wouldn’t move her anywhere else based on the facility and care she receives. I would recommend Flourish Collection to anyone looking for a community for their loved ones."

"It is never a easy decision to make when choosing assisted living for a loved one. That being said, we are extremely pleased with the decision we made for our mother. The staff, living conditions, cleanliness, and food are all top notch! The communication through every process has been flawless. Our mother is 92 and is adjusting very well. We feel she is in excellent hands day in and day out! We would highly recommend looking into The Barns of Rochester Hills. I truly believe you will be very please with this facility!"

"I toured Fairmont of Farmington Hills. They showed me everything. The place itself is beautiful, and it pretty much feels like home. Their room feels like you're inside of your own house rather than in an assisted living place. There are memory care rooms and regular rooms. They also have a giant field outside. They actually were throwing some sort of party there. There were multiple people who took me around and showed me their stuff, but all of them were phenomenal. The place was super clean, too."

"When I walked in American House Elmwood, it smelled beautiful, not like they're trying to cover up or anything. It just smelled very clean. I liked how you could walk around like a square, and you could see the dining room pretty much many times as you're going around that square. It seemed like it would be easy for my mom to get around in. I loved the assistant director. Her name is Jessica. She was just a lovely, lovely girl. She hit it off with my mom because she likes the same author that my mother likes. Right away there was a camaraderie. I like the smallness and the intimacy of the place. It's small, so my mom wouldn't feel so intimidated by that. It's little older, but it's OK because it's still nice, so I was quite pleased with them. I thought Jessica was very appropriate for her job, because she articulated her words and spoke very clearly, which is really important for people who can't hear. She's definitely gets an A-plus in my book. She was very good. They have a refrigerator in the unit. You have to have your own microwave and you can't use the burners, and those are turned off. When I toured the place, they gave us an apple pie that was absolutely out of this world. And I said, "Where did you get this because I want to buy more." The staff said, "We make them right here," so that had already sold me there. The place itself was very clean. There's a courtyard that is in the center of the whole facility. They said family is allowed to use those areas as well. They also have rooms where your family can have like a birthday party or something. They have access to a big room. It met all our needs, and they provide three meals a day."

"My mom moved to Arden Courts recently and has a very clean and light room. The building is welcoming and seems easy to navigate for all who are there. The staff is present and go out of their way to greet my mom and our family. They have a team approach to helping and it’s not hard to find someone to assist when needed. The outdoor space is the best over quite a few other memory care facilities we visited. Food service has been prompt with staff helping all residents at different levels of needs."
