My mom moved to The Rubin Home. Although everybody is great there, there are quite a few people who speak with an accent. My mother can't understand them, but other than that, it's great. It has semi-private bedrooms, and TV in each room, and three meals a day. They don't have big, huge kitchens over there. The activities are very good.

My mother has been in four other assisted living communities due to not wanting to be there and behavior issues. I heard of Eric from an in home care agency and was recommended to him. My mom had a stroke and was in a wheelchair. I am a nurse, so what I really like is that they do everything for my mom that needs to be done. This gives me less responsibility. They are self directed. They know how to manage people like my mom, where the other larger communities did not! The larger the community, the less care my mom received. Eric runs a homey family-oriented environment. If I didn't have Eric during this time of my life, I would not have been able to manage my own life. He is honest, respectful, caring, professional and has become a good friend. He has even helped me with the grieving process when my mom passed away earlier this month. I would highly recommend Rubin & Thompson!

Eric is a great guy. I was the primary caregiver for my aunt who, due to the dementia, was wonderful but very difficult. The staff was caring, awesome, patient and went out of their way to please my aunt. They customize the services that are needed. Eric and his nurse came to visit my aunt for an assessment. We were so very pleased with the home. It was impeccable, homey, and cozy. Best place if you can’t stay in your own home. The food was homemade and wonderful and again, the staff and Eric went out of their way for my aunt.

I am a local professional baker and have had the privilege of doing monthly baking/decorating activities with the residents. Over the months I have had a chance to not only witness the staff interacting with the residents, but to see the care given to the facility and grounds, which has been nothing but impeccable month after month. Not only is the home situated on a very quiet dead end street, but the yard has a serene view of the Saugus River. The staff are extremely interactive, caring and very patient with all the residents. Dealing with people who have dementia and Alzheimer requires not only a sensitivity, but an authority to help the direct the resident do what is best for and safe for them, i.e. persuading to use a walker when they resident believes they don't need to. I have personally witnessed many of these interactions between the caring staff and those that need the care. If I ever needed to make the hard decision to place my parent or loved one in an assisted living home, I would definitely choose Rubin & Thompson.

I have visited this facility many times, I am very impressed with the owner Eric, Management Roberta, the staff and the cleanliness of the facility. They treat the residence as if they were their own family member. The personal care and love they give is incredible.

I have know the owner for years and have been to the facility many times. What so impresses me is the cleanliness of the home and the level of personal care the staff gives each resident. The staff is so dedicated to ensuring the residents receive the best personal care with kindness and respect. The location over looks the water and is so peaceful. The facility does not feel like other assisted living facilities, it feels much more like a home.

As a new provider in the area it was a pleasure to meet with Eric and tour the facility. It has such a nice home feeling that is so important to many people. It does not have that "institutional" feel to it. The residents have the ability to sit and relax in the living room with a nice large screen TV, enjoy the view of the river and the peace and quiet that comes with all the comforts of home. It's a difficult decision/transition for many families having to place a loved one in a facility that has the ability and capability to treat them with the care, respect and nurturing that is needed. Just like being home.

I am VERY impressed with Rubin & Thompson as well as it's owner Eric Rubin. I toured the facility as a preliminary visit given my mother in law's family history with Alzheimer's as I live close by and this home could become an option for us in the near future. I wanted us to be prepared. Not only was I impressed with the perfectly landscaped grounds, but more importantly, the fact that it is at the end of a very quiet street, has coded exits and entrances, but the STAFF IS OUTSTANDING! I spent a few hours there over the course of a few visits and experienced some meal and activity times and I was just so impressed by how "at home" we felt there. Rubin & Thompson is exemplary compared to other "facilities" we've seen and experienced with other relatives in the past.

The owner/director has good intentions but in my judgement, misguided in thinking that what a resident "wants" to do is fine, as apposed to what they should do. I'm speaking of the example given to me from the director. If they want to sleep for the night where they lay, whether it be on the couch or on the floor. Whatever makes them happy. Dementia sufferers do not have cognitive reasoning. In certain circumstances their wants cannot be allowed. I did not find in my visit that the director had a true understanding of the disease.

Rubin & Thomson assisted living is located on a quiet street in Saugus, MA. I am not employed by the assisted living facility. I have visited Rubin & Thomson several times this year to perform nursing assessments on a patient who receives homecare nursing services from the homecare agency I work for. Rubin is a small assisted living that has a homely feeling. Residents seem to interact very well with staff. Balanced meals and snacks are served regularly. My patient seems very comfortable. I would recommend Rubin & Thomson to seniors who prefer living in an assisted living facility that feels less like an institution.
