"Sunrise of Leominster was really good. It was better than the other facility we toured. The rooms were set up better, but they were constructed as an assisted living home. So, construction-wise, they look like regular apartments. They had a living area, separate bedrooms, a bathroom with two baths, and a kitchenette. They had space to put a microwave and a little fridge. They had a sitting area outside and a parking area for the residents if they had a vehicle. The staff members were fabulous. The dining area was very cozy and inviting. It looked nice. They had plenty of activities planned. They had different groups for activities. They also had a hairdresser, a podiatrist, and a priest who came by. They do a lot of community work."

"My brother moved into Benchmark Senior Living at Leominster Crossings. They have a lot of programs they offer to the clients there, and they have a very active social group and game group. They also have light activities and exercise activities, and they may be more moderate depending on what the clients can do. They have chair activities to keep them going. Also, with the activities, they provide good hand-eye coordination. There are a lot of sensory activities to help keep the perceptual and muscular system active. They provide simple ones like movies, and they have local entertainment. They come in and sing songs from different genres. They have a cocktail hour that they do once a month, where they create different cocktails of the month. It has a lot of things to choose from for participating. My brother says everybody is very friendly and very attentive, and if he doesn't go down for meals, they come and make sure he's okay. He says that the food is good. If he doesn't like what's there, they can always make him burgers and stuff like that that is not on the menu. They have a menu where you have a couple of options to choose from. They have a good maintenance staff, and they come and do his laundry. The place is very neat, and I haven't seen any issues there at all. Compared to some of the other places that we viewed, they were slightly above, but the quality of the environment just seemed welcoming, and that's why we chose the place."

"The above facility does not offer food, however it is specifically designed to provide a wholesome environment for active seniors. Amenities are very good and provide a meaningful resource for active seniors in a beautiful setting. Most occupants are capable of making meals and seem to be fully occupied with things to do. These accommodations are in the $1200.00/mo. range. I'd be there now if it weren't for a waiting list. I'd be at Overlook hands down if you were to meet the price point. Remember seniors are healthier and live longer today. Maybe it's time to reach out to a more active senior population. "

"We moved mom to Heywood Wakefield Commons. They're very caring, attentive, and patient. They try to get to know the residents and take care of their specific needs. They have a full calendar of activities ranging from exercise, games, puzzles, and music. They have two movies a week. They have a Scrabble club. They have a lot of activities for different interests. There's something for everyone. The food was pretty good. My mom thinks overall, it's good quality. They have their big meal in the middle of the day and then a lighter meal at night. She likes the meal in the middle of the day, but she's not so fond of sandwiches and chips and stuff like that, but the food itself is good. We've been very pleased. They don't have a nice outdoor space though that's green. They have a little courtyard, but it's limited outdoors and no nature kind of thing. That's just the nature of being in the city, I think. It's very expensive at least this first year until she's eligible for some additional programs."

"The staff is really incredible there. They foster an inclusive, safe, and interactive environment for the residents, and I feel that they genuinely care for the patients. The facility is clean and organized, and it seems to be a really tight ship. The patients mostly seem to be happy, and those who are able are encouraged to be social. Patient inactivity is average for a nursing home, but I feel that if a patient is able to engage in interactive activities they are encouraged to do so. I sometimes feel a sense of college dorm at the facility, not in any of the bad ways, but in the way that they attempt to build community through social events and the diversity of activity areas throughout the home. It is an excellent facility with a dedicated staff that is an asset to the local community. Of each of the horror stories I hear about nursing homes in the media, I cannot imagine any sort of that instance happening here. The facility is second to none, and the excellent staff complements it. "

"When you come in the door, the reception is always pleasant at Sterling Healthcare Nursing and Rehab. They make me comfortable and welcome, and it is just a lovely place. The administration is good. The food is excellent, and the nursing care is very good. We really have made a good decision. You feel good, and I like everything about it. The activities group is excellent. There is something going on all the time. It's a good size place, and what they do is amazing. "

"I'm moving into The Willows at Worcester. It has a lot of updated things, whereas the other place does not. The kitchen is nicer. It's a full kitchen, but it's small. The Willows at Worcester is nice. I am getting a two-bedroom, two bath. I don't need it that big, but the one-bedroom was a little bit too small for me. I met a lady named Joan, and she was awesome. My power of attorney came with me, and we expected to spend an hour there, but we ended up spending a little over two hours there because she went through everything. It was really thorough, and we went through the whole facility. She was really, really thorough. She was very nice and very courteous when it came to me, when I needed to sit down and rest. She was very nice and polite, totally 100 percent all the way around. The main things I like are the saltwater pool and the Jacuzzi, because it'll be great for my back. They also have exercise rooms. They have a barbershop, hairdressing, a massage area, a movie theater, and a place for theater arts. They also have a billiard room, a ping pong room, a game room, a nice library, a bar, and a big lounge area. And there's outside barbecuing in places where people can sit or walk. There's gardening. If you feel like doing your own vegetables and stuff they have a place for that for you."

"The Alzheimer's unit at this facility is designed very thoughtfully to create an environment to help ease the anxiety of the residents. The exits are disguised to relieve the feeling of being trapped and the decor is warm and "homey" rather than stark and depressing like a hospital. The unit includes several different rooms that allow for different activities and comfortable environments to sit and visit with residents. There are also private rooms that were available for special occasions or sensitive situations. I specifically enjoyed the outdoor courtyard that was completely enclosed within the unit so residents to could enjoy the fresh air whenever they choose. The staff members are warm, compassionate, patient, and gentle people. I believe they genuinely cared for my grandmother and did everything they could to make her comfortable and relaxed. My family and I were so grateful for all they did during a very difficult and emotional time. "
