"We visited Brookdale Salina Kirwin. My husband was going to stay there for respite, but I had to get a hospital bed because the beds they had there were for college students and he's 6 foot 1. If you were a 95-year-old woman and you're about 95 pounds, that would be perfect for you. It just was not appropriate for him at all. Everything else was fine. The people were friendly, the place was clean, and it didn't smell or anything. The beds just were not going to work at all. I was going to have all the furniture moved out because he has a wheelchair and he would need all the space in the room just for it. I would have a hospital bed and a TV and that's it. It's small for him. There have a beauty shop, a barber shop, and a nice place where everybody could sit down and eat and they had organized activities for them. The facility was really small."

"Brookdale Salina Fairdale was nice. When you walk in, there's no smell. It's clean, and for assisted living, it's a real nice place. The rooms were not real fancy. They're just plain rooms, and you can decorate it the way you want and move your furniture in. They have bingo and they have a van so they can take people where they want to go. The staff was real good and real pleasant. The lady was knowledgeable about the place and took me on a good tour of it. We had my husband evaluated by a couple of nurses that work there. They came over to our home and visited with him and got the information and all that. The trouble is, they only have two people that are there part of the time to take care of all these residents, so they really can't call themselves a skilled nursing. They have a salon, laundry, and a room for people to gather. I haven't met all the staff, just about three of them, but they were all nice and helpful."
